Midsummer Bash
Characters: Lancer, the people he invited to the party, and everyone else who wants to stumble in
Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.
[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]
[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]
[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

[Diarmuid smiles, though his eyes are slightly conflicted. He is happy to hear that Kariya has finally moved forward--if not completely on--from the feelings he held for Diarmuid that Diarmuid could not return, but at the same time he is very worried. He knows what the Tower does to people who are close to each other and fears what that means for them both.]
Kariya deserves the greatest happiness of anyone I have ever met. If you can give that to him, then it will bring me great joy.

[When she realizes she has started to ramble, she promptly blushes and forces herself back on task.]
...A-anyway, I hope I'll be able to make him happy. That...what I want to do.

I am sure you will succeed. You are a very determined woman when it comes to the things you want. I am very happy for both of you.
[And he is. Just listening to how happy she sounds eases his worries. It is so rare to find such happiness in this place after all. Especially such strong happiness. If she can keep a hold of that then no trial will pull them apart.]
no subject
Oh, um, I, I don't know if I would say that, but... Th-thank you very much.
[She sets her fingers against her own cheek. She can feel that she's blushing, and she laughs abruptly, the sound embarrassed.]
Ah, I'm sorry. I'm being ridiculous. Here I am, almost 30 and with one child already, and I'm...
[Well, he can see how she's acting, she's sure.]

[Diarmuid picks up on her mention of her being a mother and while he would like to ask her about her child since he too is a parent, he decides not too just in case it might make her sad since she is currently parted from her child.]
Besides, you are among friends here. And we like seeing you this happy.
