Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

[Lucifel looks at the waterskin then. And tilts his head.]

Is that juice or...?

Ah, no, no, it's the wine from Riki's month. Zo's restored what Ruana neglected to.

*He smiles sheepishly. He knows it's a little strange to be so attached to the stuff, but...well, it was a comfort to have. Besides, wine-flavored things were always Armaros's favorite...*

Ah, I see...

[He hadn't gotten the chance to taste any during Riki's month. Rather he didn't take the chance to try taste some.]

...Would you like some?

*Enoch offers the waterskin. If Lucifel didn't think to save any, he's not going to keep this all to himself.*

... Just let me finish this.

[If he could trust the sources then it would be better to have something in his stomach before he started drinking. So Lucifel finished his hot dog first before he reached for the waterskin.]

All right.

*And Enoch waited patiently while Lucifel ate, offering the waterskin and letting him take it when he was done.*

Well then...

[Lucifel uncapped the waterskin and took a sip. The taste was a bit... he didn't know. The archangel couldn't put a finger on it.]

You seem...confused. You didn't have any when it was in the cafeteria?

No, why do you ask...?

Because of your reaction... What do you think of the taste?

Honestly... I don't know.

It's much better than the wines on Earth...ah...Earth in my time.

*He doesn't know what to make of Lucifel's reaction. He'd hoped to be able to enjoy it with him...*

I wouldn't know about that. But I trust your opinion Enoch.

[Maybe he should just give it one more try. So Lucifel takes another sip.]

Don't...don't force yourself if you don't want it.

*He hadn't immediately thought he would - he wasn't used to thinking Lucifel would be anything but open about his opinions...*

I thought if I take another sip I could say something about the taste.

[Oh Enoch, you almost worry as much as Him...]

Oh. So...what do you think?

It's hard to tell...

[Someone tell him that's the alcohol he's tasting there.]

*Enoch wouldn't be able to help much on that front, sadly, since he doesn't know that's what's striking Lucifel as strange. How awkward.*

There is this... very lightly burning taste? And bitterness and sweetness at the same time.

[Does that help?]

Ah...all fermented drinks have that burning taste, some more than others. *That's as close as you're getting to the answer.* That bit of bitterness is normal for wine, but...that level of sweetness is new. Sometimes we add syrups to wine to improve the flavor but this is blended in much better, more smoothly than any wine I've had in my own time.

*He's just glad it's not too sweet, however they make it like that. It's just right to offset the less pleasant flavors he's used to from his own time. He wonders how the future isn't constantly drunk on wine so flavorful.*

That must be it. But if the changes are as great as you say then color me impressed Enoch.

[The future is more than likely drunk on more than just wine. But that was another topic for another day.]

I am, too. The things in Meridian that tasted like wine were similar to this. I never imagined it would taste any different than what I knew.

Once we are home we should remind each other to go on a trip as soon as everything is over. I think there is still a lot that we need to see.

[No, not something that Enoch needed to see, something the both of them had to see.]

*But they won't go back to the same "home"...will they? Or is this the Lucifel from his own Earth, despite his Earth being earlier? Oh well.*

"We"? You haven't seen everything?

[It doesn't mean that they should suggest that at *home*. But did that matter? In the end they don't know what will happen to them once the year is over.]

Yes, "we". And the world continues to change Enoch, there will always be a few things I haven't seen.
