A dead man's wish

Summary: While Naoya gets the reveal started on the network, Enoch takes care of physical copies.

*There's something different about the tower today. Not in a big way, not like the power or glamours are out. For one thing, everyone with a mailbox will get this note, unsigned:

Souls in our world are defined as the self. Even those without anything that can be considered a soul in their own worlds would manifest one here. Souls are extremely resilient - they can be torn out of their body and survive provided they are removed in the right manner. But they shouldn't be of course - the side effects might be disastrous in ways we can't quite understand. It's happened here before. Souls can be torn out of this world the same as in any other. Here though they can split - that's extremely important. They can split and merge if you have the right skillset. Never lose your soul in the Tower of Animus. None of yours are yet lost - but never lose it! They won't come back whole if you let her swallow them up. The power must have gone by now - she'll want to restore the tower. Everyone who ended up trapped on their own worlds is now in grave danger! She can't take souls as Zo can, but she can siphon them and she can squeeze all the energy out of them.

As soon as this message is decoded put it in as many places as possible! Put it on the network make copies and plaster them on the walls. Do everything you can so that as many people read this message as possible. There isn't enough energy to erase everyone's memories!

Remember - souls born here can be split and reabsorbed here. A soul born elsewhere can be split there, but there's no way to put it back together unless you can put it back where it's supposed to be.

Not everything is as fake as it seems. Your souls are here and you have all been drugged to keep certain aspects of yourselves contained but every part of you is here. You can use that against them if you can figure out how to unchain yourselves. I'm afraid you'll have Jason as your first opponent as he's the one with the keys you need. Be careful! There is information everywhere though much of it has been nearly permanently sealed. I can make it possible for you to access it, although you will all have to unlock it.

If that wasn't strange enough, you've probably seen it already. The same message is posted throughout the tower - on bathroom stalls, on walls, on tables. There are easily over a hundred pieces of paper.

And hey... Isn't that the same note "the Observer" put up on the network yesterday evening?*

Meanwhile Romeo dragged a chair over to the machine so he could reach and grinned when Yotsuba brought back the tape. "That's great! Now what we got to do is make the metal really sharp!"

Yotsuba didn't know much about machines, so she just smiled as Romeo spoke and looked at the machine.

"Okay! How can we do that? With your knife?"

"With this machine, it whirls around and makes things sharp!" He pressed the button and let her see the blade whirling. "Like that!"

Yotsuba looked pretty surprised when that happened, but smiled as she saw the machine whirl around and make the metal a bit sharper.

"That's awesome! What else can it sharpen?!"

"Anything! But you got to be careful because it could really hurt you!" He pressed the metal against the grinder and looked determined as sparks started flying.

Yotsuba, not wanting to be burned by the sparks, took a few steps back when they showed up.

"Okay! But be careful, okay?! Being burned hurts!"

"I will be!" He grinned and continued to grind the metal. "I'm very careful!"

"Okay..how long will it take? Is it done?"

While Yotsuba was a good little girl at heart, she was still a little kid, and, therefore, could be impatient sometimes.

"Almost, it's got to be really sharp or it won't kill any monsters!" He grinned at her, "You can start cutting long strips of tape, 'cause we'll need them!"

At that, Yotsuba brightened up a little and smiled.

"Okay! Yotsuba can do that!"

Since she didn't have any scissors, Yotsuba started pulling out pieces of tape and ripping them with her fingers before sticking them to a nearby metal pile so that they could use them later. The tape was really sticky and hard to rip sometimes, so it was slow going, but she did her work, even though she glared at the tape as she did so.

Romeo kept grinding the metal, before pausing and passing down his own knife to Yotsuba, to help cut the tape with.

Soon the metal was sharp enough and Romeo turned the machine off, clambering off the chair.

Yotsuba happily took the knife when Romeo offered it to her, since it made cutting the tape much easier.

When the machine turned off and stopped throwing sparks and making noise, Yotsuba stopped cutting the tape and look up at Romeo, smiling.

"Is it done now?"

[myblueskies]

"Almost, now we just gotta make the handle and that's what the tapes for!" He took one of the strips and started winding it round the bit of metal he hadn't sharpened.

He held it out to Yotsuba so she could help.

"Okay! This is fun!" Yotsuba hadn't messed with tape much, but she had helped pack and unpack boxes sometimes, and had enjoyed it a little bit.

When Romeo held it out to her, Yotsuba didn't take it, but she did remove a strip of tape she had put on the metal pile and wrapped it around the bit of metal Romeo hadn't sharpened.

Romeo grinned, "It is!" He did the same and soon enough there was a handle around the metal that would be safe to hold.

"There you go!" He handed her the knife with a big grin.

And Yotsuba would take the knife, smiling all the while. While she didn't have a good place to put it, she could use it sometimes, if she used her sling with her right hand and the knife with her left.

"Thank you! This will help me defend myself! But..Yotsuba can't but it in my pouch! It'll rip!"

"We can make you a belt too!" He showed her his belt, a strip of fabric. "Then you can keep it with you all the time!"

Since Yotsuba didn't know what a belt was until now, she hadn't thought of that, but her eyes lit up at the suggestion.

"Oh! I didn't know what a belt was! That would be useful!"

[myblueskies]

"They are!" He grinned at her, "You can hold lots of things in them!" He went over to the pile of materials and started looking through them. "What's your favourite colour Yostuba?"

And Yotsuba just watched as Romeo looked through the piles, not thinking of searching herself. After all, Romeo probably knew where the belt materials were! He was smart!

"Green! What's yours, Romeo?"

"Blue! Like the sky!" He grinned and found some green material that wa slong enough to make a belt. "Do you like this one?"

"The blue sky is nice! It's really pretty, especially after it rains!"

Yotsuba looked at the material in Romeo's hand and nodded, moving her knife to her right hand and reaching out for it.

"I do!"

"It is!" Romeo misses the blue skies. The one's here are just not the same.

He passed the material over. "Shall we make a belt from this one then, it matches your hair!"

Well, you couldn't really see a nice blue sky in this place, but there were a few other nice things here too, even if it was dangerous.

"We will! And it does! That's why Yotsuba likes green!" And so, carefully, while having her sling on her right hand, Yotsuba tried to cut the material to fit her and succeeded-even if the ends were a bit uneven-before tying it on-a task made much easier by putting the knife down on a pile for a moment-and sticking the knife through the belt when she was done.

"We're finished! Yotsuba has a knife now..oh! Thank you, Romeo!"

Romeo grinned at her, "It looks great! You're welcome Yostuba and if you ever want to practice more you can come and find me!" He rumaged through the papers until he found the one's she had written out.

"Remember to put these up everywhere!"
