Event: Quarantine

Summary: An unexpected series of explosions has trapped residents in the dorm rooms with no power and no way to get out. Try to communicate with the outside, deal with being stuck in a small room with other people... Deal with the really strange things that seem to be happening, too.
Warnings: typical Animus horror event warnings

[There are several more explosions, and the sound of things falling and crumbling outside. The dorm rooms themselves don't collapse or cave in, but the furniture and trunks and nightstands may be rattled and knocked about. Eventually, the lights flicker and go out entirely, leaving everyone in the dark. There are small red emergency lights lining the floors, but they don't seem to have come on all the way, and flicker on and off eerily.

After maybe twenty minutes everything falls silent. However, if you try the door, you'll find you can't get out...]

At any rate, I'm fine. Started as hell, but I don't think I'm hurt. And provided that's the same for the rest of you, I'd like to see if we can attempt to figure out what the fuck just happened.

Well this is great, isn't it?

[Asagi pipes up from the back of the room, looking as nonplussed as she ever does, and raises a hand to her mouth, nibbling on the tip of a finger idly.]

God, this so-called emergency lighting doesn't work for shit.

[Her eyes scan across the room, recognizing everyone but two- though she's picked up that the youngest is Ken, and sets her other hand on her hip.]

Well isn't this a charming gathering.

[puppy_lancer]

[Lancer scoots toward the direction of Asagi's voice.]

Hey, at least we can see each other. If you want brighter lights, I guess either me or Waver could make one, though I'm not sure how long it would last.

If you pull off one of the sheets, I can set it on fire.

[Waver's outburst causes Diarmuid to step closer to him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. Whether the comfort is meant for Waver or for himself is up for debate, though, since Waver's outburst is only slightly less extreme than the outburst that had been about to burst from Diarmuid's lips.

Can anyone say 'on edge?']

Waver's right. The last thing we need to do is accidentally do anything will make this worse for us. We don't know how long we are going to be stuck here which means we are going to have to conserve our energy and resources. The light is dim, but it will suffice until we actually try to do something requiring more.

[Lancer look over to his brother, and then to Waver.]

He said it better than I can. I'd rather not burn the sheets yet. Not if we need to sleep in this room or anything

[He looks down at Ken.]

Look, kid, Waver and I do magic. So I was talking about a light spell or something.

[He directs his eye back at Waver.]

You can make a light spell, can't you?

Not to mention that if whatever pumps oxygen in here doesn't run on emergency power, we'dbe out of oxygen and choking on smoke in no time.

[She looks between Waver and Cu Chulainn with veiled interest.]

So make with the magic so we can at least see who we're all dealing with, hmm?

[Muttering something about idiots under his breath, Waver took a small white and green capsule from his pocket. Crushing it between his hands produced a pale green light, which he tossed to the ceiling. It seemed to affix itself there, and he shook the excess magical energy that lingered off of his hands like it was water.]

That should last a while. I only have so many of those, so don't expect me to maintain this forever.

Stop it... Don't use resources unneces... [Suzaku finally speaks from where he was stood staring at everyone talking, bickering and offering to set things on fire. But he was too late as Waver had already lit the thing up.]

We don't know how long we will be stuck here, we have to preserve energy, magical and not. And no one is setting anything on fire. [Pointed look at Ken at the last, takes after his big not brother it seems. For those who know him this is a lot of words for Suzaku, but really someone has to take control and actually organise things.]

[What the hell, people. He looks over at Cu Chulainn and growls a little bit.]

And don't call me 'kid'. My name's Ken. Use it or we're going to have problems.

[He huffs a little and looks over at Suzaku.]

I remember you and Jin having problems. Don't take it out on me.

[While he's protective of Jin he does not want to even get into this shit.]

Anyway. If anyone needs healing, let me know. Dike can heal pretty well.

[Having said all of that, he relaxes slightly, though keeps a grip on his spear.]

...You're still a kid, Ken.

[He mutters. It's just a habit for Lancer to resort to nicknames over actual names.]

[And since he doesn't need healing, he falls silent and waits to see if anyone else does need it.]

[Diarmuid rubs at the bridge of his nose. With everyone so on edge and there obviously being a few personality conflicts in the group, focusing them on a task might be the best way to keep people from killing each other. It's worth a try anyway.]

Brother, please...

It seems we are lucky to have so many people with healing talents in the room. If anyone is even slightly injured, please speak up. There's no reason to remain so even if we are trying to save energy.

Now that we have light, our first course of action probably should be to see about getting the door open again. Does anyone have ideas?

[He pause a moment, giving a few people in the room a 'look.']

Please remember that any ideas shouldn't make this place unlivable for the rest of us should the plan fail.

How about I just kick the sucker down?

[Asagi pipes again, looking as bored as she probably can. Even as she talks though, she gets a little height boost from her armor coiling up her arms, down her back and appearing only on her legs.]

I mean if we're talking pure force here...

[Not to mention, it'd make the least amount of mess.]

Though someone might have to stand by and catch me if there's anything weird going on with the door. I don't need to go rebounding off some poor idiot.

I'll do it. And if you can't get it down, then let me try.

[He throws a look at everyone else.]

...And the rest of you should stand a little back. Especially you, kid. Unless you have some sort of defense magic.

[You just crossed the line, Cu. Ken quickly reverses his spear in his hand and goes to smack him with the shaft of it.]

What did I just tell you, asshole?

[puppy_lancer]

[Lancer reacts just in time to block the whack with his arm.]

Stop antagonising him. [Seriously did Cu want to be set on fire? Suzaku had went silent after Ken's comment about Jin, and had merely nodded at the ideas to kick down the door, he would be able to help with that as well, since he doubted it would break easily.]

Girls, can we save this for later?

[A tendril of hair snakes backward from where Asagi's squared off in front of the door, grabbing Cu Chulainn by the wrist.]

Kind of need your attention here, Cu Chulainn.

[Ken huffs and retreats back into his corner, glaring at Cu Chulainn.]

[Lancer nods and turns back to Asahi.]

[Said so very deadpan. But she takes a couple of steps back and then forward again to slam her foot into the door with an almost deafening sound of metal-on-metal.

Nothing happens the first time, despite the force she puts into it, so she tries again, and again-- and on the fourth try or so she actually does kick it hard enough that the door's unwillingness to budge finally sends her stumbling backward and into Cu Chulainn with a grunt.

Well- at least it didn't shock her or anything.]

Son of a-! That thing's done up tighter than the virgin mary's chastity belt.

[He holds Asagi, steadying her. Then, he steps in front of her.]

Then it's a good thing I'm experienced with opening a virgin's belts.

[He cracks his knuckles.]

It's just that I've always persuaded the virgins with words of love. Obviously, that's not gonna be useful here.

[Holding out his hand, he manifests Gae Bolg.]

Now, Gae Bolg fits this thing better.

Oh yes, I can hear the belts, they are a-loosening.

[She doesn't hesitate to smack him on the ass nonchalantly though.]
