"Betting...with...Richtofen..." Sephiroth repeated slowly, putting emphasis on each word as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
As clearly, Richtofen was the worst example for Nesir to be allowed to be following. He had a very special part of his overall detest of this place, reserved for that lunatic. But somewhere after the end of his comment, Sephiroth's thoughts turned to something far more important.
"You...saw all of that?"
His expression was the epitome of disgust. If Nesir and Richtofen had seen all of it, not only his embarrassing condition but also his failure to compete, might as well have been pasted over the walls of the entire Tower.

She nodded again, she had thought he had known, "It did be being on all the network monitors, nothing else did be working on them, just that."

If he'd managed to finish Jason, he'd have been proud of the show he'd put on. But he didn't, couldn't even raise his head much to look the Admin in the eye. It did his ego no good whatsoever.
Nesir's smirk just intensified Sephiroth's scowl. He rolled his shoulders back slowly, trying to work out a growing knot of tension forming between them.
"As if my day couldn't get any better."
There was a very special level of sarcasm in his tone.

"Is that right?" The fact that it had led to his own inevitable rescue seemed to escape him. He wondered if Ruana had broadcast that part too.
It would be the cherry on his cake of self-loathing right now.

"Do no be feeling too bad. You did be doing better than some people."
no subject
"Oh, like who?"
As really, what advantage was he given in that game? If anything, one might think Ruana didn't want him to win.

He wondered, in silence for a moment how events may have played out if the prey had just lain down and accepted death- then shook his head to dismiss the thought and looked back again to Nesir over a shoulder. There was little point to dither in what-ifs.
"I really could care less about them, if they weren't strong enough they didn't deserve to win."

Sephiroth certainly didn't see himself as sulking. It was a spiked affront to his coveted sense of self control that Ruana had so forced such a motivation onto him. Clearly it had been on purpose and that turned the knife stabbed in his pride.
He continued to watch Nesir's face as she looked around at the others who might still be on this floor. All the chipped worker and retrieval units mingling around for some purpose, and Aria not that far away either. They do seem to be doing all they can to put him on their side, whether he wanted to be or not. Else why else all this hospitality. Sephiroth sneered at his chipped companion momentarily, blank as he was, who was never far away from him on this floor.
"So, what did you bet on, exactly?"
no subject
"That you would be winning, and that you would be killing at least two people." She told him shaking her head disappointed.
no subject
She wasn't the only one disappointed, that much was obvious by his tone.
"It could have been so easy. I found the four of them, at one point. It could have been-"
He then shook his head, dismissing the thought. It didn't matter he hadn't been fighting for a real reward after all. Never mind he'd not been in any position to be half of the killer that he would have needed to be. Regurgitating his wounded ego wasn't going to assist him in getting over this - Sephiroth's outrage was still scalding.
"-It turned into a game of survival, rather than one of hunting."
no subject
"So in a way you did be winning, you did be surviving, do you think I can be convincing Richtofen that I did be winning that one.
She would rather only owe the doctor one favour and have him owe her in return.

He pushed against the table and got himself to his feet. His balance careened forwards but he drove heels into the floor to counter it, only the slightest sway in his height perceivable - his jaw steeled against the hot straining sensation far up and behind his hair.
After a moment of making sure he wasn't going to fall clumsily back into his seat he turned towards Nesir, rather than looking over a shoulder like he would usually.
"He's hardly the sharpest tool in the box, for what it's worth."
It wasn't quite permission being granted for Nesir to try to settle her debt with Richtofen by using that, but he does hate the Doctor and it's a fair statement. However he disliked the idea of Nesir being involved with him.

"Is anything worth betting with Richtofen?"

"He's not boring." He eventually agreed. "But he is however, entirely predictable and obnoxious to boot"

But-
"There is a reason that Ganondorf didn't trust him either."
no subject
"I did no be saying anything about trusting him."
no subject
"But you have to trust, otherwise how could you bet with him."
no subject
no subject
"So did you come to tell me specifically what you bet him against or was there another reason?"
