Setting: The few days after the event, throughout the Tower as you will.

Summary: Jason's dead. So are a lot of other people. Fallout and picking up the pieces.
Warnings: Discussion of death and cannibalism inevitable.

I’m not waiting, I just know to expect that from you now.

[Ryoji looks away from Sephiroth, knowing the real answer to that question, but also knowing that Sephiroth doesn’t deserve an honest response. He sighs heavily and changes the subject.]

What do you want from me?

[It's all very well noted. Ryoji doesn't want to play his game. Sephiroth isn't surprised at all. It doesn't stop that light grin to his features though.]

What do I want from you? [He raises both eyebrows almost as if expecting an answer. Then lowers them in the next instant.]

There is nothing that you could offer me to know. I learned what I needed to from a traitor who deserved it.

And what exactly, do you think I deserved?

[Yet again, his laughter has no amusement in it.]

It’s rather harsh to call me a traitor when I had no idea what the real plan was, and what I was getting into, don’t you think? I was kind of sucked into this with no time to weigh my options. Trust me, if I had time to figure out more, you would never have had to deal with me.

Honestly, I would have preferred that.

You deserved to learn that it is just as easy for me to bend you to my will as it is for the Admins to do the same to you.

[Despite his less-than-perfect condition in this instant, Sephiroth's smirk is heavily molten with a world of his selfish intentions. He does shift on the spot a little; perhaps the smallest chink in his armor to betray that he might not be at his best right now.]

Just keep it in mind, Ryoji. Ganondorf was interested in you. No surprises, considering the power present in a certain form of yours. Only, I am not so foolish to think I could use that for my own ends.

I, however, do not need you. You would do good to remember that.

I doubt that. Contrary to popular belief, I’m not some puppet that can easily be used to carry out someone else’s wishes. [Not anymore.] I have the ability to fight against that, and even if someone has control for a moment, it’s only of my body. I and everyone else knows where my true intentions lie.

[He notices the shift, takes note of it in case this does come to a fight. He may not be killed so easily if Sephiroth is also weakened.]

I don’t care whether you need me or not. The only people I live for are myself and the people I care about. How necessary my life is to you doesn’t much matter. I’ll keep living on to be with them… and maybe just to spite you.

[Luckily for Ryoji Sephiroth will not fight anyone unless he's at his required standard of perfection. He must step on them from on high, not claw at them from equal (or below) footing.

He looks to the elevator button and reaches to press it once more. He doesn't take a step towards it though, almost as if distrusting his own balance. Sephiroth even looks away from Ryoji momentarily before looking back to the boy.]

Then spite away.

[Sephiroth has bigger goals than you, these days, Ryoji.]

I’m content with doing that. Stay away from everyone I care about, and we won’t have to speak to each other again.

[Ryoji hopes Sephiroth will take that option. He’s done with the fighting and fear and anger that came from getting involved with Sephiroth. He’d much rather let go of that worry and focus on the few months he has left with his friends.]

So cold, Ryoji. [Yes, that was almost a sardonic tease followed with a fitting smile.]

You almost sound as if I might go out of my way to do the opposite.

[Which Sephiroth certainly has no interest in. All the fights, all the sour words, all the entertaining (and then not-so) events that have spiraled from that one fateful day that he'd first met Ryoji; really won't be worth anything to Sephiroth soon.

It has been fun being his enemy, though Sephiroth's time playing with Ryoji has certainly past.]

I wouldn’t be surprised if you did. I’ve learned not to trust you at any moment, no matter if you seem busy with something else. Hurting other people seems to always be on your mind… and I can’t accept that.

[He clenches his fist at that smile, tempted to punch him, but he restrains himself and just turns to walk away.]

Until you do, though, I’ll have nothing to do with you.

[If only it were that simple. Despite the reassurance of himself that he gets from delivering pain and misery to others, it is only as limited as the means that the Tower provides. Sephiroth hasn't gone out of his way to hurt anyone deliberately in a long time before the most recent game which saw Jason get eaten-

He nearly grimaces at the thought, he'd been very much inspired to do that by a reward he knew really couldn't have been achievable. It's likely he won't forget the last comment the Admin made at him in his part of the scuffle.

He watches Ryoji leave without a further comment, then relaxes a little more into his not-quite right posture while waiting for the lift to arrive still.]
