"A-A portal?" Quark tenses and he looks around frantically as if to find it--not that the portal is within the same room they're in. He puts his thinking hat on quite literally, lifting the clunky object out of his lap and stationing it over his head. After a moment of quiet contemplation he blinks away the last of his tears and stands.

He's still shaken and scared and confused, but there's no reason he can't try and be helpful! His grandpa may be dead, here, but...he raised him to be the best that he could be, and even now Quark was going to honor that.

"Zo's the one that brings everybody from their worlds to the Tower, right? So...so he could be doing it, right? I dunno why but..."

He shuffles his feet, looking down. "Either way I'm happy not to be alone anymore."

At that, Riku cracks a smile, crouching down so that he's closer to Quark's level. He may not be Sora, but he can at least try to keep a positive attitude for the kid's sake. Besides, there's still hope, and he'd be stupid to let his own cynicism blind him from that fact.

"Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere, all right? Why don't we stick together until we get to the next portal? Bet if we put our heads together, we'll find it in no time flat."

Besides, maybe it'll keep his mind off of the surrounding death. Focusing on something constructive makes even darker situations a bit more bearable.
