PARTY TIME!
Characters: Marty and EVERYONE ELSE. Start your own threads, mingle, make CR!
Setting: Floor 38, the big lounge floor just under the dorms, BEST STORM VIEW
Format: Your choice
Summary: STORM WATCHING PARTY! So the power is out and there's tons of thunderstorms. But don't let that get you down, WATCH THE THUNDERSTORMS! Also pancakes and coffee.
Warnings: STORM WATCHING ! Lots of thunder
Marty had enough of the darkness in the tower and the creeping monsters, so when he looked at the mass of pancakes the automatic pancake maker had made, he loaded them up along with the coffee maker, coffee, the syrup, and toted them all the way up to Floor 38.
There was no way he was going to let those massive stacks of pancakes go to waste, and this was the closest floor to the dorms that actually had some place to hang out, so he set the pancakes up as a sort of continental breakfast, and sat watching the storm.
What he hadn't expected was the people to start trickling in.

There's the slightest of pauses. ]
I would not want to trouble you. ... Though I must ask if you know what any of this is? I recognize tree sap when I see it, but the rest is foreign to me.
Link you forgot to turn your ugyuu off
Of course. The "sap" is actually syrup, which is a processed and reduced form, so it's sweet and often used as a topping. The food itself are pancakes, a light, fluffy sort of bread or cake often eaten for breakfast.
[Kuja nudges the plate toward Link and places one mug next to it.]
The drink is coffee, a bitter sort of drink that causes wakefulness, but I put milk and sugar in it. I hope you don't mind.
Link's ugyuu button is always stuck to ON
O-oh, no thank you, my friend drank some of this koff-hee and was very... she was not able to make sentences properly.
[ Excuse them they need to go find a fork. Link returns with one shortly. ]
I am afraid there are quite a few things in this place that I do not understand... I have actually never had bread before coming here, either. We did not have it in my home.
Wakes up covered in sparkles?
No? That's rather odd. It is energizing, but not to that extent. Unless they were unused to it and drank a lot... Ah well.
[Change of topic go! That doesn't stop Kuja from drinking the coffee himself. Not super great, but it's not bad, either.]
Is that so? How interesting! What sort of staple did you eat at home, then?
It's like the Swag. Link also can't turn that off, and then she's got a Fish Wife...
... It's hard to believe they hadn't handled a fork before coming here, but you adjust pretty quick from just a spoon and a knife, so. ]
Mostly berries and nuts, as well as small birds and fish. Whatever the Forest provided for us, truthfully. We had sap, as well, though not quite as sweet as this.
[ It was so simple back then. Link missed it. ]
Of course, you could eat Deku Nuts, but... they're far better for self-defense and hunting, so we would generally save them for that, and the seeds for a sling shot.
Link gets all the luck UwU
Hm, I don't think I've ever heard of that sort of arrangement. Ahaha, then again, I'm very urban myself. How could you use decku nuts offensively? Were they poisonous to animals?
Unless you are Link who thinks it is the opposite of luck??
[ The smallest of laughs. But oh hey, before they eat... ]
Ah--I apologize, I am afraid I did not thank you for this. Your name is...?
Guess so...
[He's gonna take a bite himself. Hey, pretty good! Even if he wasn't craving sweets and flavor he'd think the same thing. At least, he assumes so.]
I've never known a nut quite like that. What does it grow into?
no subject
My name is Link, Kuja. It is nice to make your acquaintance. As for the nuts, they... come from Deku Babas, though they can be very dangerous to harvest, as the adult plants will try to eat you. You can cut their stems for Deku Sticks, though, which are also useful for when you need kindling.

Are those monsters mobile? If they're truly like plants and rooted down, then it should be trifling to deal with.
no subject
[ Hahaha Monsters, man. ]
But they're surprisingly more dangerous than you would think. They're quite tall.
I have Kuja at 5'10", not counting the feathers
[Monsters, totally. And yet Kuja can calmly sip at his coffee while discussing walking people-eating plants.]
How tall are they? Taller than you or I?
Link is.... substantially shorter and I don't even have a decent height for her?
About to... here, though some grow far taller. It really varies.
[ Link holds a hand up to their chest, to demonstrate 'here'. Link is around 5 foot nothing, so... ]
Eh, we can handwave it!
So frightening, but not too dangerous if one keeps one's head. I could be speaking from experience, however, since I am accustomed to monsters.
except NOW I have a height pfff 5'3''...
So you have monsters in your home, as well, Kuja?
Same as me .D.
[Well and also there's monsters in his literal home but Link doesn't need to know that, or how unnatural the Mist truly is.]
Cool!
I see... most people I have met are not used to such things. It is... unfortunately commonplace in Hyrule for dangerous encounters to occur, however.
no subject
Well, people adapt when they need to, don't they? I do envy people without monsters sometimes, but I don't think I'd be as strong as I am now without them.
[But not because Kuja ever had to worry about fighting them. No need to worry Link with the details, was there?]
no subject
[ Chivalry and a compassionate heart--Link is oftentimes a Knight, just without the shining armor. Or, you know, the man thing. Perhaps it's just how they were raised, but being taught to care for everything and everyone has made Link a very compassionate and empathetic person. ]
no subject
Very true. Those who are weak either need help to become strong or should be under protection. I'm glad there are so many strong people here, those who can train others less fortunate.
[Kuja didn't really think that: the strong always devoured the weak, unless the weak used their numbers for a group advantage. Link however, with their "knight" personality, didn't need to know that.]
no subject
[ A problem, really. How can you teach people if you don't have equipment? Wooden swords for training are fine, but in practical application here... not good for protecting yourself. ]
no subject
[Even wood is better than nothing, but keen metal is best. If only Kuja paid more attention to synthesizing before, or he wouldn't have to learn it by tickering alone.]
no subject
Surely someone here may be able to teach us. If we can make weapons for ourselves and others, it would make maintaining defense in this monster-infested tower that much easier.
no subject
[Since Link could wield a sword, they would be a valuable member on that count.]
Even if the weapons were poor, surely skill could make more of a difference.
no subject
I could try, I suppose? It is not as though I don't have materials resistant to fire. It's merely that I've no idea how blades are actually... made. The ones I have were borrowed or...
[ Pulled from a Pedestal of Destiny, really. ]
