A Thousand Ways To Say "I'm Sorry."
Characters: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (Zero Lancer), the list of people he feels he has to apologize to after the experiment, and anyone else who runs into him around the tower looking quite a bit worse for the wear...
Setting: Anywhere in the tower
Format: Whatever you want to use. I will match.
Summary: After the experiment, Diarmuid finally gets around to dropping off a bunch of letters to the people he feels he needs to apologize to. He is also spending too much time fighting monsters and trying to make sure everyone in the tower is safe. Even for a servant, he's starting to not look so go. Stop him? Be saved by him? Save him?
Warnings: Angst? Derpiness? Updated to add: Clowns! Beware the clowns... Oh and blood, violence and death. Yep, both Lancers are going to bite it in here...
Note: The letters may be ignored or responded to as the character's muns see fit. I know not every character is going to care that Diarmuid feels like he needs to apologize. He's going to do it anyway cause that's how he is.
[Maybe it's because Diarmuid's old-fashioned or maybe it's just because he wants to see the letters delivered to a place that he knows the recipients will find them, but despite the new mail system, today many people within the tower will find a note or small gift sitting on their bed when they next stop by their room. If they don't spend much time in their room, they will instead find the note waiting for them in whatever place they spend the most time.]
Catarina:
Catarina's note is folded into the shape of a rose. The outside 'petals' have even been tinted red. Once unfolded, the note simply reads:
Lady, I hope your necklace turned up safely after the experiment ended.
--Diarmuid
Zelda:
Lady, we met under...non-ideal circumstances. I hope that our future encounters will be far more pleasant. If you need another warrior in the fight against those who keep us here and you are willing to trust me after everything, my blade is yours.
--Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Mami:
Mami's note is folded into the shape of a rose with its 'petals' tinted yellow. Beside the note will be the small jar of tea he got from Lambdadelta. It's suppose to taste like Earl Gray with rose petals and white chocolate, but he hasn't tried it to find out accurate that description is.
Mami, I don't know how to begin to apologize to you for what I have done. Please take this gift as a small sign of how sorry I am. I will understand if you don't wish to speak with me again. However, I would like to try and continue to make things up to you. May I have that chance?
--Diarmuid
Hidetoshi:
If you want, I can teach you how to skin a deer...
--Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Rin:
Rin's note is folded into the shape of a rose. Its 'petals' are red, though the edges have been blackened.
Lady, may we talk? I have much to say to you.
--Diarmuid
Shotaro:
Are you all right? I never wanted to hurt you. Tell me how to make it up to you.
--Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Suzaku:
Since they never exchanged names, it takes a long time for Diarmuid to track down Suzaku, but his determination finally wins out.
We...need to talk. I was unforgivably rude to you, though I have every reason to believe the things you told me about your past were true.
You cannot become like I did. I won't allow it.
--Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
The Endless Witch:
I have not forgotten that I owe you a favor...
--Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
Aleph:
It takes a while to track down who Aleph is since they never exchanged names, but fortunately for Diarmuid, there aren't a lot of demon summoners in the tower.
We should hunt them again soon...
--Diarmuid Ua Duibhne
[After delivering his notes, Diarmuid returns to what he has been busying himself with ever since the experiment ended--making sure everyone is safe from the monsters and floors in the tower. With all the new floors that have just shown up, he has plenty of places to be in too. The problem is, he is taking no time to rest and not eating. While servants really don't need to eat or sleep, with as much energy as he is expending fighting monsters day and night, he really should be because otherwise, it's only going to be a matter of time before he runs into something he can't handle...]

floor 93
[A silver-blue woman materalized beside Labrys, surrounded by intricate red glowing threads. Throwing her arms forward, the threads lashed out to strike through the monster that was coming uncomfortably close to Lancer's back.]
Geez, that was too close...[Labrys crossed her arms and shook her head, Ariadne disappearing into nothing.]
Re: floor 93
No monster should have gotten so close to him without drawing his attention.]
Apparently, I was being more careless than I thought. Thank you Labrys. I'm sorry for troubling you so. These new floors...the administrators spared no effort to find new ways to hurt us, did they?

[She uncrossed her arms and walked forward, smiling.]
Sure looks like it, huh? All a' the ones I've seen look kinda crazy. I ain't even gonna dare walk off the staircase for most of 'em.

[A dark look crosses Diarmuid's face.]
So many people are going to die when they first find these floors. I'm doing my best to patrol them, but there are just so many...and I'm already making mistakes. How can I protect anyone like this?
[While his first words seem strong despite his exhausted state, the tone of that last question better matches how he looks--tired, defeated, and maybe even a little hopeless.]

floor 80 (let's have some dead Lancers)
[A little too fascinated, unfortunately. The clowns had turned their attentions to him and were determined to use him as some sort of training dummy. As a result, he found himself repelling bomb pies and knives thrown with deadly accuracy.]
Tch. Are all clowns this troublesome? And just when the stuff was getting good.
Re: floor 80 (And this is why we can't have nice things...)
[Diarmuid uses the back of his hand to redirect a knife coming in at his roommate and then grabs said roommate by the collar and tries to pull him back away from the clowns hoping to either cause them to lose interest or cause a few to peel off from the others so they will be easier to fight.]
Haven't you been listening to the warnings that have been floating around? Those aren't the usual workers that run places like this!
[Unlike his roommate Diarmuid has been listening to the rumors and warnings that have been spreading through the tower like wildfire since the new floors appeared. He's also managed to confirm no small number of those warnings first hand as he's made his own runs through the new floors.
The administrators have really outdone themselves this time...and not in a good way.]
Re: floor 80 (And this is why we can't have nice things...)
[He directs a glare at Diarmuid. Not that he's not grateful for the save, but he could've handled the clowns by himself.]
[...Maybe.]
What about you? Haven't you just gotten close?

He-y. What do you think you're doing, randomly leaving behind letters in people's rooms..? [ She sure saw the one he left for her, apparently. ]
Re: floor 81
Despite the note he left for her, this person is one he would have been happy to not see again. However, he had promised her a favor and he isn't going to start breaking promises now.]
Good day, Lady.
[He doesn't turn toward her, instead he continues to look out the window.]
It's an amazing view, isn't it? What they let us see, anyway. Have you been enjoying the new floors?

LMFAO SERIOUSLY.. diarmuid, stop, don't let your e-rank luck lead the way
If he could stop, it wouldn't be E-Ranked luck anymore. It would be like E+ or something...
ah, this is true.. so he'll just keep running into the worst people forever
I worry how she would react to knowing the best way to power up a servant in his world...
dfhjsdjhjfskj let's just.. never tell her...
You realize E Luck means he will probably just let it slip someday, right?
AHAHAHA IT'S TRUE.. everything will just forever be awful between these two
Awful for them, hilarious for us. I like this arrangement! LOL!
i know, their cr is just so funny to me.. even if i feel so sorry for poor diarmuid..

Of course, that plan quickly ended when a hand shot out of the water and grabbed her foot.]
Gah! Let go of me!
[Despite her struggles, and the stab wounds she gave the mermaids, there were quite a lot of them. Help a book girl not drown? Of course..this means that you'll have deal with the consequences.]
Re: Floor 90
Said mermaids are not happy...not happy and all and their shrieks express that clearly.
Diarmuid can't help but smirk at their anger as he looks down at Tohko making sure the girl is all right.]
Sorry about that. Did they hurt you?
Re: Floor 90
As his words, she shook her head.]

And well, surreal or not, he did have a few things to clean up with Diarmuid. So, once he's read the litter and considered a course of action in response, Hidetoshi figured it would be beneficial to check it out, set off to track down Lancer somewhere in the Tower. Wouldn't hurt to get some exploration of the new floors that been added at the same time, as long as he took care to avoid the monsters.]
Re: floor 75
He pauses though, when he sees Hidetoshi enter the floor. Should he bother the boy? He has no idea if he's gotten his letter yet and even if the boy has, Diarmuid has no idea how he's reacted to it.
That decision is taken from Diarmuid's hands, though, when a monster appears out of the darkness near Hidetoshi.]
Get back!
[The warning is a force of habit that probably isn't necessary because by the time the words leave his mouth, Diarmuid has already launched himself off the roof and is on a path that will place himself between the boy and the monster in only a few seconds.]
floor 75
—Huh? [And it registers that there's a monster coming at him, and Lancer's putting himself forward as a barricade between them, and—]
—Damnit!
[His knives are out, readying to fight, but he is not his older self; Hidetoshi is devoid of magic or spells or experience beyond that of a couple months. He can hold his own for a couple minutes in actual combat, no more.
The monster lunges with a triumphant howl.]

*claps* Well done Hidetoshi. Too bad that problem w/Honor etc goes waaaay deeper than you think.
*s-sigh* He tried his best, for not being a therapist and not knowing the depth of the issue.
Indeed! He did very well! Oh, and idiocy warning...
You mean: Lancer warning...
How will he feel after reading the story? Will he understand any better?
Idk He might, but at least knowing about the curse would clear some things up. :/

Huh? [ She opened the note with a smile slowly spreading on her face. Mami quickly placed the jar in her room before hurrying out. She had a Lancer to look for. ]

[ She wandered on the 81st floor, looking around with some awe. So this is what they were doing? Hearing a noise, she looked to see who had entered the room. ]
Lancer-san?
Re: Floor 81
At least she's not attacking him, though. That's a good sign, right?]
Lady...I... They did a lot of work this time, didn't they?
[Diarmuid is a coward really, afraid to say what he wants to now that he is face to face with her. He looks away and waits for her to start yelling.]

floor 99;
From him of all people.
It was a bit of trouble to get Archer to leave her alone, but he did help her locate where this "enemy" Servant was. Fortunately the crystals remind her of things long ago and so her mood is elevated just a bit. Having fashioned a throne in the crystals, Rin sits lazily with her head propped up waiting for Lancer to find her. It shouldn't take him long if he follows the crystallized bats flying around her; fully-animated, it was almost as though they were alive.
Sitting in her lap is the folded letter. She got it. Now it's just a matter of whether or not he can find her. ]
Re: floor 99;
Just as impatient as your mistress I see.
[The bat might be in a hurry to complete its duty, but Diarmuid is a little less pressed to arrive at his destination. He can't help but wonder how she will great him after everything. Will she wish to forget it ever happened? Will she hate him for getting so close? It doesn't help that he's not sure how he feels either. Oh, he doesn't regret helping her, not one bit.
But how will Kariya react if he finds out? How will his roommate react? They have both asked him to check on her. To help her.
They have no idea he's way ahead of them on that.
The bat makes an odd little sound...like some kind of chirp if the sound of two crystals scraping together could ever hope to simulate a chirp. Diarmuid starts slightly when he realizes while he has been lost in thought, he has arrived.
He takes a deep breath and crosses to Rin's throne, dropping to one knee in front of it.]
Lady, you sent for me?
no subject
Even if said behavior meant taking over an entire floor and not being driven mad by the crystals around her. Or perhaps she was maddened as a result of the glistening beauty, it's often difficult to tell when it comes to someone who's mood shifts often. ]
You sent for me. [ She counters as she holds up the letter. ] I thought it proper to return your summons.

Wow I am horridly late. Also his room okay?
He did wonder once he realised that Rolo had been under an experiment, if the man who knew about Geass had been also, but he had no way to tell.
The note at least gave him a name, and he wandered the corridors looking for his room, it took him a little while but soon he was there and knocking softly, hoping he was in.]
Not at all! You are fine, and so is his room. :-)
The knock on the door startles him awake, though, and he quickly crosses the room to answer since he has no idea how long the person has been knocking for. When he sees who it is, he is surprised, but it's a happy surprise that, for the moment, hides the exhaustion that still fills his face.]
You got my note. Thank you. Please, come in.
[Diarmuid doesn't know what the boy wants to say--if he's angry or what--but at least he has acknowledged they need to talk and that is a step in the right direction.]
yay!
