Finally, another party
Characters: ProtoLancer
puppy_lancer, Zero Lancer
oathshackledbird and anyone interested in attending a birthday party. Details here.
Setting: Meadow
Format: Anything goes
Summary: Lancer throws his brother a party. Everyone can come except for the Archer (meaning they can come crash the party anyways)! Feel free to tag into any of the threads set up or invent your own scenario.
Warnings: None yet!
[It had taken some preparing, but the party was finally set up in a satisfactory way. There was a table for food and drink dragged in from the cafeteria, a wooden bucket filled with water with fruit floating in it, a strange paper mache Jason head pinata stacked on a scarecrow body, and a board with a pig with a Ganon head scribbled on it along with several spiraling paper "tails" attached to thumbtacks. There are no party decorations, but Lancer figures the flowers and sunshine should be decoration enough.]
[Now it's just a matter of waiting for people to show up.]

[At the mention of a Birthday, Yotsuba's grin grew.]
Oh! Happy birthday then! Eat lots of cake!
[..If there even was any. However, that last part made Yotsuba's grin drop a little bit, and she nodded.]
I would! Lots of scary people have been wandering around..one of them tried to burn Yotsuba, but I ran and hid under a bed!
no subject
[If so, Diarmuid is going to have to make it a priority to find this boy and find out why he keeps hurting a child as innocent as Yotsuba. There is no excuse for the things he is doing.]
I hear you have a new friend who is helping keep an eye on you. Rabbit, I believe he said his name was? I am very happy to hear you are making friends like that. He is a very...interesting character.
And I appreciate your birthday wishes, though, this party really is just so people can have fun and take a break from everything that has been going on. So...
[He motions toward the table they are now standing next to.]
What would you like for me to grab for you to try?
no subject
It wasn't! It was a girl with long yellow hair..and a weird crown! And pointy ears!
[That..might sound similar to someone Diarmuid knows. However, at the mention of Rabbit, her smile grew again.]
Yup! Rabbit's my hon..hon..honrary big brother! He's a super cool and nice robot! And he's good at singing!
[At the food, Yotsuba looked over everything before pointing to some kebabs.]
Yotsbua would like those!
no subject
[He pulls gently on the sash she is wearing. It's a tactic to distract her from talk of the person who had attacked her. From the description, it sounds like Zelda, but while Diarmuid doesn't know the woman well, he knows she would never intentionally harm a child. The only explanation is that Yotsuba had run into her during the experiment and Zelda had no control over her actions at the time. He is relieved to hear that the green-haired boy isn't stalking her, but at the same time, he is saddened that even Yotsuba had suffered during the last experiment.
Diarmuid reaches down and picks up one of the kebabs that Yotsuba had pointed toward.]
A meal for my lady!
no subject
[The sash would have a cloth waist pouch, if Diarmuid looked carefully. Inside, smoosed together, was a child-sized sling and three or four smooth rocks. After all, it wasn't like Yotsuba had taken to Diarmuid's advice to not try and learn how to defend herself. After all, if a monster or a bad person came after her, a brave death wouldn't stop Daddy from crying and others from worrying.
However, the tactic worked, and Yotsuba kept on smiling and reached out for the kebab Diarmuid was holding.]
Oh! Thank you!
no subject
[Diarmuid hands her the kebab and then grabs one for himself. He's not entirely unfamiliar with eating food off a stick like this, though this food looks a lot different than what he is used to.]
How is it?
no subject
[And with that, Yotsuba would take the kebab and bite off the first piece of meat. While she wasn't quite used to something like this, but it wasn't bad. She quickly chewed and swallowed before replying.]
It's yummy!
no subject
Is it really fair to keep her from finding some way to defend herself?]
And how is that going? Does the sling work well for you?
[He pauses to take a bite of his food.]
It is very good isn't it? My brother apparently knows some very talented cooks.
no subject
It's the bees knees! It's great!
[While Yotsuba didn't look it, she was a bit tougher than most kids. Still not that strong, but a bit more durable, which helped with flinging rocks at things. Yotsuba took another bite of her kebab before she replied.]
Oh! Maybe he made it himself!
no subject
I don't know if my brother made anything himself or not. He likes to fish, but I'm not sure if he is so big on cooking things. I should ask him sometime.
Does anything else look interesting to you?
[He motions out toward the table again. There are a great many things on it he doesn't recognize and what better way to decide what to try than to have her pick?]
no subject
You should! He could make curry next time!
[Curry being Yotsuba's favorite actual meal, not counting desserts. At the question, Yotsuba took another bit of her kebab before she replied, pointing at the purple spaghetti balls over some noodles.]
Why are they purple?
no subject
[Diarmuid looks at the food she is pointing at. Purple...it is a color for food he is still getting used it.]
I am going to guess that is because of what it is made of. The ingredients are were most foods get their color unless the cook wishes it to look different for some reason. Do you want to try some?
no subject
[She was still happy, but a little puzzled about that. She seemed to be taking the knight thing like it was nothing. At the question, she nodded.]
Yotsuba does!~
no subject
That is why we we make the fire outside, little one. The kind of cooking he and I would know would mostly be of the outdoor sort because, yes, otherwise we might burn something down.
[He picks up a plate, putting some onto it and then holds it up for her so she can try some.]
Here you go!
no subject
Ah! Okay then...oh..but I forgot. What's a knight?
[She was aware of the concepts of presidents and governments, but not old knights and royalty. After she asked, she ate the meatball.]
no subject
Is it good?
Do you know what a king or a lord is? They are someone who rules over an area and the people who live in it. They make the rules and make sure that everyone is taken care of and that they follow those rules. Knights are a lord's trusted warriors who work in his name when he cannot be someplace.
[It is an extremely simplified explanation, but hopefully it is enough to satisfy her curiosity.]
no subject
It is, but isn't that the guvernment? It builds schools and really tall buildings and has police protect people from bad people!
no subject
You are correct. Those are the names given to the people who take care of those things in modern day. Back in my day, it was the lord and his knights who did those things. I lived for the first time a long, long time ago so things have changed a lot since then.

It is a long story. Do you know much about magic, little one?
no subject
A..a little bit! Magicians can pull things out of nowhere and make things vanish, right?!
no subject
It is something like that. How magic is used varies widely between worlds and on my world there is more than one magical reason that I do not look as old as I really am.
no subject
[..Not really, but on some level, she gets it.]
no subject
I didn't use it on myself. Someone used the magic on me, but that is close enough.

And shall we end this with them heading off to talk?
Sure! That's fine with me!
