Midsummer Bash

Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

If you ever do, be careful about what you say. She's a great lady and an honorable knight, but man, if she doesn't have a temper.

[She killed him during her last tantrum. No joke.]

[ Shirou looks a little surprised by the suggestion of a Saber losing their temper over anything other than improper lunches or that golden douche. ]

I'll... keep that in mind. Hm, but if she's a honorable knight, and a great lady, then she's still Saber in some way as always, and that's good to know.

Oh yeah, maybe you shouldn't try comparing her to her other self either. She's...not very happy about that.

[ He nods. ]

That falls in line with the 'be careful what I say' bit, right? [ Avoid touchy subjects like that. ]

[puppy_lancer]

Yep. No talk of Masters either, okay?

[heroicprinciple]

Understood. I'll stay away from that subject.

[ Considering the Saber he knows's experiences with her Master, he can get why it would be a bad idea to talk about that topic. ]

You'll probably get a chance to see her here. I invited her. In the meantime, just enjoy the sunshine. And if you're interested in knights or sparring, I guess I can introduce you to my bro.

Sure. If I do, I'll speak politely and keep your advice in mind. [ He then grins. ] ... I think the white Saber would be really miffed if I found another sparring partner without telling her. She wouldn't want to share her chance to beat me up.

[puppy_lancer]

Really, now? Tell her that it wouldn't be nice to deny you a chance to spar with one of her old friends.

Er? An old friend of hers... Um, how did she and your brother meet? [ Lancer is from Ireland, she's from England? :|a ]

Oh, they were in a Grail War together.

[The HOLY GRAIL--bringing heroes of different times together since the Meiji era!]

He's a Lancer like me, you see.

Aha, that explains it.

[ Must have been in the Fourth War. ] Good, Saber should have more friends to be around.

[puppy_lancer]

Doesn't she? There's plenty of knights in the Tower.

[heroicprinciple]

[ He blinks. ] Hm?

[ Being a knight doesn't equal being Saber's friend though. ]

[puppy_lancer]

You know, ones she can hang out and trade drinks and stories with?

[heroicprinciple]

[ He figured Lancer was talking about there being a range of like-minded people for Saber to hang out with. Or should he write this off as a Heroic spirit thing? ]

Oh, right.

[puppy_lancer]

So she...didn't make friends with any of them? Or are they just not close to each other?

[heroicprinciple]

I don't know. [ He didn't monitor Saber's social life in the Tower, gosh. Shirou sighs. ] But she always seems lonely when I see her.

[puppy_lancer]

...I guess your Saber is a king before she's anything else too.

[He remembers what the black Saber had said. Kings had to be alone.]

[heroicprinciple]

[ Shirou looks disgruntled by the reminder. ]

It's a ridiculous way of thinking. [ He muttered angrily, but it should be clear he isn't denying Lancer's remark. ]

[puppy_lancer]

It's something that served her well once. Not now.

[He's just a little more understanding about this since he's a Heroic Spirit.]

Or rather, it didn't serve her well. It served her country well. It just...doesn't apply anymore.

[ You cannot protect people with human emotions, right. He remembered what he knew of her. Saber had served her country, not herself. ]

Yeah. But I'm not certain she realizes that. [ He ran his fingers through his hair. ] Or if she does realize that, and still won't quit with it.

I think it might be the latter. She's not dumb.
