Collar Checkup Boycott
Characters: open to all
Setting: infirmary; around the Tower in general
Format: party-style all week; please note the date your post is taking place in the subject line
Summary: The results of the collar boycott slowly become clear...
Warnings: standard Tower warnings
Note: You may NPC your own retrieval units.
The results don't begin to become clear until Tuesday--Monday passes more or less without incident, except for the number of orange-collared residents who miss their checks. And on Tuesday, the retrieval units are out to search for them. It doesn't seem like they were meant to recover so many, though: a clever resident will be able to avoid their retrieval unit entirely. And so, some oranges continue to have escaped their collar checkup today.
It's worse on Wednesday. Retrieval units are out and about again, but this time to try and search for the yellow-collared residents who skipped the day before. No orange-collared residents are searched out at all, and even then there seems to be enough confusion in the programming of the retrieval units any boycotting yellows can run off and hide if they're careful about it.
By the time Thursday arrives, there's a general, obvious level of confusion in the retrieval units' retrieval programming. They were obviously not programmed to be searching for so many colors at once. Some residents may find themselves being dragged in for a second collar check this week, even if they went to theirs, and the infirmary seems to be working at double time. No one even bothers to search for the two wayward greens.
By Friday the retrieval units are out in a number that seems more fitting for a small militia than anything else. Still, they seem more intent on tracking down the greens--their programming still telling them to retrieve those who were missed the day before--but they don't seem to know which greens they're looking for. Anyone with a green collar may be dragged in for a collar check, possibly multiple times today.
Saturday is chaos in the infirmary. The retrieval units seem to have entirely lost sight of who they're actually searching for, and anyone brought into the checkup room will be able to see how messy and confused it looks, with no real time to clean it and orange through violet collar fluid all lined up at once where normally only the color of the day and of the day before would be out at all. Again people may be brought in for multiple checks while those intent on evading capture can remain elusive.
But Sunday--on Sunday the entire process breaks down. There's too much volume for the retrieval units to handle, and they scatter about in a strange catch and release program, dragging anyone they catch to random places around the Tower before letting them go. They don't seem to be entirely certain of what they're supposed to be doing.
Something else happens on Sunday, as well...

SUNDAY, MORNING
In fact, for the first time, anyone who wishes will be able to enter the collar checkup room unsupervised.]

With a glance up the stairs and then down at the retrieval unit Jason had following him, he cautiously steps off the stairs.*
Is...is anyone working here?
*Tentatively, he heads towards the examination rooms after not being met with any worker units.*

Never one to turn down such an invitation, Kyoko walks through the room, carefully searching it as she passes through. She uses the same amount of caution as she attempts to enter the checkup room, opening the door and only half-stepping in to look for any signs of trouble.
Might as well try and see what this is all about.]

[Considering how many times he'd been dragged to the infirmary the past couple days (despite going on his own when he was supposed to) John was a little surprised to see it completely empty when he walked by on his way to the cafeteria.]
[He peeks his head in curiously, glancing around to see if maybe people are just hiding somewhere where he can't see them.]
Helloooo? [He wanders around a bit, followed by his own retrieval unit.] Anybody in here?? Okay, guess not... hm?
[He's about to leave when he catches sight of the open check up room. For a moment, he's tempted to just keep on walking out but... well nobody is in here. Surely a quick peek can't hurt....]

[Exasperated and only managing to contain his temper by reminding himself he couldn't fight retrieval units, Waver cursed vividly under his breath. Swearing up and down he was going to punch whoever was responsible for this mess, he let himself be dragged along for what must have been the third time.]
[Deep breaths, Waver.]

Sunday, afternoon
I think I liked you better when you just watched me silently all the time...
[She mutters to the unit disdainfully, knowing fighting it at this point is futile. Another would simply take its place and start following her until it too bugged out.]
Honestly, we are not even going towards the infirmary anymore!
[Goddesses above, this gamble had better been worth it--!]

Well. It's not the way Lina had intended to touch base with Zelda again, but when opportunity knocks, you answer. From behind the retrieval unit, Lina pops out of hiding while whipping up a bit of blue magical energy.]

sunday afternoon
He doesn't know where it's taking him, but it sure as hell isn't the infirmary.]
Stupid herbivore.
[They've taken Hibird too, the canary that he's rarely seen without. Hibari thought maybe one of the units would take him to where they'd stolen the bird away, but each unit has abducted him to a different location each time.]
Re: sunday afternoon
Honestly, he leaves the group to use the restroom and gets abducted on the way back. All of this had better pay off.
But really, he doesn't understand the insult and is a little dazed from being carried upside down for so many flights of stairs.*

Re: sunday afternoon
Friday
The first time she hadn't struggled all too much, but after the second time she had had quite enough of it already. She struggled against the retrieval units when they cornered her, kicking out at them with her feet and beating at them with her wings.
By the beginning of the afternoon, she had decided that she just going to stay wherever the retrieval units weren't. But that was proving harder than anticipated.]
Sunday morning
It's less amusing when they catch her, but at least they seem to let her go pretty quickly. Even better is the fact that she knows she's seen people heading into the infirmary to look around - and that's a good thing. She's not sure she'd understand what she finds in there, but at least now they have the opportunity to look.
At the moment, she's tucked into an alcove and is watching the goings-on curiously. She'll jump in if anyone looks like they're in trouble, but this is definitely one of the easier days she's had so far.]
no subject
With her luck she'd go downstairs and some worker unit would have taken her nearly-completed sundress and thrown it away.]
Get off me. I already went!
(no subject)
Thursday
And it was because of the knowledge that he had done absolutely nothing wrong or against the rules that he figured the increasingly strange behavior of the retrieval units to have anything to do with him. For the next few days, he went about his business (or lack of business if we're being real).
One can imagine Quark's surprise when on Thursday, regardless of his innocence, one of the aforementioned highly confused units grabs him firmly by the wrist and proceeds to drag him away from where he had been reading a book about robotics in the library.
He squeals in alarm and a small twinge of fear, tugs against the hold the unit has on him and digs his heels into the ground.]
H-hey! Let go! I didn't do anything! Stop it!
[Of course, being so small and (naturally) powerless, his defense is weak at best.]
Thursday
When she saw the boy and the drone he was struggling with, she stayed back, an idea forming in her brain. Carefully, she concentrated, and as she did so, a black storm cloud formed over the retrieval unit that was bothering the boy. Keeping her concentration, she called out to him, hoping the drone didn't turn on her too.]
Are you alright? What's going on here? And do you think you can get a few inches away from the drone? I don't want to hurt you.
Threadjacking if that's okay!
Perfectly fine with me! :D
It's fine with me too! :3

Saturday
Um..could you..ah..stop pushing, please? And..ah, leave him alone! He..doesn't have a collar!
[..One of them had gotten the idea to grab Magnemite for some reason, and Jasmine wasn't too happy about it, so while the other drone that had grabbed her kept trying to shove her forward, she kept doing her best to stay in place, even though she was weak. A moment later, the drone would let the Pokemon go, and Jasmine would get a second collar check-up before being quickly pushed from the room to make way for the next person. Jasmine, puzzled and a little mad at the treatment, did her best to stay by the side and watch everything while holding Magnemite in her hands and soothing it.]
...What..what's going on here?
Saturday
Ivan, put me down! We have books to sort, and a mess to clean up that you made me make! You're not a family member or someone that I'd let carry me like..this, so put me down! Now!
[..While Tohko hadn't gone in yet for the check-up, since the whole place was a zoo, she could still talk to people. Or have others wonder why there was a drone wearing a paper hat, a nametag marking him as 'Ivan' and a copy of Enoch's recent information about souls left behind taped to his chest.]
Multiple -- put the day you want in the subject
[--Oh, that's wonderful. That's just rich.]
Alright, big guy, let's be clear on something -- I went already. Twice, in fact. What gives you a reason to just drag me there again?
[A retrieval unit -- obviously conked out by the boycott -- has Shepard carted over its shoulder, and it's already dragging her back towards the infirmary for a third dose of green goop injection. To say she's displeased with this development would be an understatement, especially when she'd had things to take care of, like helping Diarmuid out.
But she doesn't exactly plan to resist just yet, so there's that. Once she's dragged in, given her collar fluid dose, and released (again), she stares in exasperation at the sheer number of green-hunters the day's brought, bringing a hand to her head.]
...You're shitting me, right?
[Sunday, Early Morning, Anywhere]
[Well, this was getting out of hand, now, wasn't it? Whoever the admin was for the month is probably going to pitch a fit later, if not one of the others...
Shepard is carted off again, but where last Friday brought multiple bloody collar checks in a row, today seems to have brought her an impromptu meeting with someone else. Well, then.
At least they weren't on a floor that was full of risks, right?]
...So, come here often?
[In as dry a tone as humanly possible.]
[Friday Afternoon - Infirmary; near the lift]
That doesn't stop him from lingering near to the lift at various points on Friday, idly observing as retrievals bring in one green after another - hey didn't that person already come in here twice already? That being said he's fairly certain they shouldn't even be hunting greens today, shouldn't it be blues? Either he's got his timings wrong, or the boycott is producing backlog results that he couldn't have hoped for. Well, points for those residents that had actually taken on what he'd had to say - it had seemed so pointless in hindsight when he'd calmed down.
Arms loosely folded and leaning against the wall slightly, Sephiroth chuckles as Shepard approaches. There is no mistaking the pleased grin permanently creasing his features.]
They've really got their wires crossed, wouldn't you say?
Hi Seph. How's your afternoon? :|
s'all good Shepard how are you enjoying this?
Sunday, Early Morning, Infirmary
Oh this'll be fun. :| Sorry for late, by the way, things got a little hectic for tagging motivation.
Hopefully it will...and that's alright! Don't worry about it! ^^;
Thursday; Afternoon
She kept her distance from the infirmary, but watched carefully. She had grown accustomed to being perceptive, even if she was an idiot who slipped up a lot. She clutched the handle of Sidia close to her form as she waited.
If anything were coming she would try to deal with it, otherwise she was quietly watching the infirmary in hopes that it would get empty for her to grab a few things for wounds. ]
Would a healer be fine too? :3<
That's interesting.
As such, she's going to very quietly walk up to the girl, tilting her head a little as she asks:] Are you waiting for something to happen?
Sorry late reply and yessssss would love to healer + healer = awesome!
It's cool, it's cool, I'm late to this too. :D

multiple days
[ There's a huge mess going on and Kuwabara's using his spiritual awareness to avoid it. All the touchy feely things were going to be avoided but he was trying to find his friends and see if they were alright. He wasn't exactly worried about himself, since most of the things here, he could manage to take care of.
He was more worried about everyone else if anything. ]
[ SATURDAY ]
[ Saturday was hell and Kuwbara's running around trying to get information. Hopefully it would be useful to him later. For now, he clutches his cat in his arms and makes a break for it in hopes of avoiding enemies if they appeared. ]
[Sunday, Early Afternoon - Floor 86]
He'd been knocked unconscious, as powerless against these units as ever. Same as whenever he'd get cornered - Sephiroth always tries to fight.
However he wasn't expecting to come to, to blazing summer sunshine in his face. Sephiroth stirs in the grass of the meadow on this floor, vision slipping in and out of focus. He flexes fingers, turns his head away from the sunlight so it can not blind him anymore. Then blinks harshly a few times before the mushrooms less than a feet from where his head rested come into focus. Ugh. This isn't good.
By chance the unit has dropped him in the free space between two of those mushroom rings and then left him there. Someone a little more experienced with this floor might want to warn him of the way he could be a little careful in getting to his feet. Any remaining nausea from however long he's been unconscious there for might cause his foot to slip. - Or then you might not be so inclined.]
no subject
She's just heading down the stairs when she sees someone stirring out of the corner of her eye. She turns, then steps out onto the floor. She recognizes that person.]
Funny place for a nap, Sephiroth. [She smiles good-naturedly - she's not trying to tease him, she just can't help it. Unfortunately, she's never dealt with this floor either, so she has no idea to warn him about the mushrooms.]

Arturia stumbles from the checkup room, looking weary. The first time she had been brought in, she had gone willingly if only because the way the retrieval units were acting had her alarmed.
Then they brought her in again, despite her protests she had just gone.
And a third time. This time her powers had to be disabled to bring her in.
The fourth time she had barely walked out the door when the retrieval units brought her in again. It was getting rather tiresome.
By the fifth time, her liquid had been changed so much she felt dizzy from it all, as if she had lost blood repeatedly during the day. Arturia didn't know if it was the thought of what filled the collars as her blood making her mind play tricks on her, an actual affect of so many transfusions, or just tiredness at being dragged into the infirmary so many times. All she knew was that once she was released she made a mad dash for the staircase before she got pulled in for a sixth transfusion.
Once she made it up a few flights and believed she had managed to get out of sight of the frantic retrieval units, she sat on the steps, rested her head on her knees, and tried to will her dizziness away.
Saturday, before lunch
Seriously, retrieval units. Are you so broken that you can't even--
One look at the state of the clinic this time around, and he can't help but be slightly amused.] I guess those idiots are managing something after all.
[That still doesn't fix the fact that this is his third time over here.]
Saturday, before lunch
They are managing to pull people in for collar check-ups..even if some of them have been here before. I do wonder what has caused them to act like this.

Minato wasn't going to participate the boycott, and so he quietly and obediently attend the checkup with the other blue collared residents. However, he did notice the confusions.
How the retrieval units acted, as well as the number of people with different colours inside their collars. He glanced around, studying the situation before he spoke up.
"...They seemed confused."
SATURDAY
Minato was at the kitchens, considering what to cook next. It might be an illusion, but he still want to practice his cooking skills.
Well, he would if a retrieval unit hadn't come and drag him over towards the infirmary. He's mildly disappointed by this, if only because his snack time will be delayed.
saturday
When she sees Minato, she raises a hand at him as if in greeting. As if this situation is totally normal. ]

[Even when Sora had found out about the boycott, he hadn't put very serious consideration into participating. He wasn't always the smartest or most cautious person in the world, but even he had a bad feeling when he heard about it. He'd been here for awhile, and a lot of his early - and later - negative experiences in the tower had involved things going wrong with the collars. When checkups didn't happen, or things got mixed up, there were always bad consequences. His friends got hurt.
Of course he wanted to find ways to do more to help everyone, but this just didn't seem like the way to do it. When his gut feelings were protesting as loudly as they were, Sora wasn't one to ignore them.
So when the blue collar checkup date came, Sora went just like he always did, no arguing whatsoever. He had noticed that the Retrieval Units were acting really...well, weird, though. There were a lot running around - the boycott must have really caught on - and they all seemed out of sorts in general. As days passed, he heard about people getting brought in for additional collar checkups, even people who hadn't tried to boycott, but Sora hadn't been the target of this himself.
Until today.
Though Sora doesn't struggle, he protests - loudly - all the way to the infirmary, where he's much grumpier for wear when he's finally left to wait for a second checkup.]
Sunday
[Okay, now this was just ridiculous.
Sora has been hit with some bad luck today. He was grabbed by yet another Retrieval Unit on his way to the elevator. He thought he was going to get dragged in for yet another collar check, but...well, they sure aren't headed to the Infirmary, so he has no idea what could be going on.
He isn't sure the Retrieval Unit knows, either. He's actually a little worried about the thing.
In any case, the Keyblade Wielder is going to spend a very long while in the elevator - they go all the way down, and all the way up. Where will they eventually go? Will anyone else get in the elevator so that he at least has someone to talk to and the ride doesn't seem as painfully long?

He hits the elevator wall and rubs at his temple. Those units are getting crazier with each passing second, it seems. Thankfully, Sora's presence does ease the situation at least a little, and he looks to his friend with a lopsided smile.]

But now that the day has arrived, she keeps running her fingers over the collar around her neck as she sits on her bed. Eventually she looks up at the other girls in the room and sighs. While she still doesn't know them very well, they seem to have been her longer than she has, so maybe they'll know what's up.]
Hey...can I ask you guys something?
