Summary: Aleph is in search of something in particular: a Bible. He has no success and eventually retires to the meadow.

[Floor 3]
[The first place to look would of course be the library.

But, it seems that religion and history are intertwined, and the histories of the worlds aren't covered in this library. No matter how hard he searches, Aleph can't find a single religious tract or book of divine scripture.

He's basically going to check every section of the whole library before he gives up, though. It'll take him awhile and make him obviously noticeable.]

[Floor 13]
[Churches generally have religious books in them, don't they? To read from and all.

This one doesn't seem to. It's not a clearly Mesian or Christian church, and he doesn't know well enough to determine if it's anything else, but he thinks its pastors must be hard on their luck if they have to recite everything from memory.

Aleph will turn this floor inside out trying to search, including looking under pews.]

[Floor 19]
[Now, he's pretty sure that this research library doesn't have anything either, but just in case...

He'll go over this entire library section looking, though with less enthusiasm than the other floor's library.]

[Floor 25: afternoon]
[Well that was a waste. Still, it was something to do. And...

Aleph knew vaguely that other worlds had kinder Gods than his had. Different Gods. But he failed completely to understand why they got so upset about the prospect of a different god than theirs being killed. He only sort of knew why Lucifer got such a bad reputation, in the barest possible sense.

He'd been reading books for a year to improve his ability to read, and to not be bereft of all knowledge but how to fight. It seemed time to get around to some of these, if he could find any of them.

Failing that, picking daisies and making them into a flower chain was never a bad use of time.]

[Sup Aleph, one curious redhead will just peeking over your shoulder at the flower chains you're making.]

What're you doing?

Making flower chains. I made a daisy crown for your Bullfairy and you once, remember?

Oh yeah. You put one on my head when I was asleep, right? [Just gonna crouch down next to him to watch.]

[Choking, flustered sound, before she quickly glances away.] A-aha, I t-think you're getting Charlie and me m-mixed up there.

Floor 13

[Stepping into the cathedral, Judas notices Aleph, but thinks better of bothering him. He sits down at a pew near the centre of the church, silently staring at the altar.]

[Well then Aleph will just have to bother Judas.]

Sorry, do you have a moment?

[He looks up at Aleph, offering a bit of a smile.]

Sure. What can I do?

Do churches like this usually keep books around somewhere? I'm looking for a bible but there's none in the library.

[Labrys leaned over Aleph with an interested expression, long silver-blue ponytail dangling not too far from his face.]

[She raised a hand to her mouth, looking overly impressed by something as simple as that.]

Woah...how'dja do that?

[She'll just be sitting right here with her robot legs and robot everything else.]

Sure, it looks trickier than it is. See, the way it works is you make a slit in the bottom of a stem with your fingernail, which you thread the stem of the next flower through... And you just keep doing that until you have enough flowers to loop back to the first one.

[He demonstrated by adding another daisy to his chain.]

Floor 3

[Naoya doesn't look terribly happy at the moment, but he's picking through the bookshelves, apparently not pleased with what he's finding.]

[He spots Aleph easily, though.]

Heh. What's going on?

Looking for a bible and not finding one. You?

... Why are you doing that?

[He raises an eyebrow, leaning against the shelves a bit.]

People tend to get upset with me when I talk about having killed God. I don't understand why it means that much to them even if they have a God that's less than evil.

Third Floor

[As usual, Tohko was tending to her librarian duties, cleaning up a few shelves and any messes the patrons left behind. However, when she saw Aleph looking though the shelves, she couldn't help but pause to talk to him. After all, not only was he a patron, but a friend and student of hers.

As usual, Ivan, her stalker drone, was a few feet behind her, wearing a paper hat, a nametag, and piece of paper with the information about souls Enoch had found taped to his chest.]

Oh, good morning, Aleph! Need help finding anything?

Good morning. Do you know if there are any bibles or religious texts in this library?

[If anyone knew, Tohko would.]

[At that, Tohko sighed and scratched her head. She hadn't seen any, to be honest, and while she wasn't a heavy user of the nineteenth floor, she didn't remember seeing any there either.]

I'm terribly sorry, but I don't think we have any religious texts or bibles here. I don't know why we don't-maybe because the Administrators don't want us to know much about people that might be involved in those stories-but, I'm sorry to say that we don't. May I ask why you're looking though?

It's because I know very little about religion other than the one involved in my home world, which has a very cruel God at its head. I'd like to know why people get attached to theirs.

Floor 13

[ What use did religion have to an android? Sertoria found her guidance, especially when she needed it, via praying. Her hands were clasped together and she had her eyes closed, mentally talking before the altar.

That was until she detected Aleph and her eyes opened again, a smile on her face. ]

Hello. I did not notice you were there, sir.

[He recognized praying when he saw it, at least some of the time.]
