Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba
The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.
Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.
Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

You guys all remember what happened during August? Some people started waking up in the admin levels, and a friend of mine got stuck doing processing.
[Riku's expresion darkens, and he rolls his hands into fists.]
Well, turns out there's a way to remove the collars-- these little styluses. Don't know how it'd work on living bodies, but someone might have snagged a couple.
[Or a couple of someones. Of course, he won't disclose their location for obvious reasons.]

Great Scott, that's exactly what we need!
[ It had been one of his main worries-- How'd they manage to actually use the researches' results. After all, they had no mean to alter the collar fluid within their bodies. But it sounded as though this was a viable way to go about it. ]
When we'll have completed the researches, we will need something like that to actually put the results into practice otherwise none of what we are doing will matter.

[A frown crosses Riku's face for a split second before he shakes his head.]
We'll just have to make sure it's safe before we start ripping the things off of everyone.

I hate to say this, but it sounds like the most efficient way would be to test it on one of the worker unit.
[ They lacked a soul or heart and weren't really alive after all-- Though this would be an extreme measure as far as he was concerned. ]

[Or, well, maybe it's possible, but safe? Debatable.]
//casually cuts in
[If Riku thought he wasn't going to get listened in on, well, too bad. This is the first discussion that's really caught Asch's attention.]
For all you know, you might be the next one to disappear, and then the knowledge would be lost.

[Still, mailboxes... there's an idea.]
Honestly, I'm surprised the mailboxes are as safe as they are. You'd think they'd be one of the first places the admins would monitor.

[Reading plans, and even just outright preventing things from getting to the people they were intended for - there's a lot the admins could do to mess with the mailboxes.
Asch turns back to Riku.]
You can teach the combination without actually having the stylus, correct?
no subject
[He shrugs, resting one hand on a nearby table.]
It'd probably be easier to just jot it down. Maybe I could whip up some copies for the science teams, since they'll probably be the go-to guys for this.
tardy party
[Even if it did work without the stylus in question in the first place.]
If you do, I'd like a copy.
[Something to commit to memory and then burn.]

wow I'm the worst

[Right now, they're hidden. It's probably better to keep it that way for the time being.]

I wonder if it was all for show, to make us think that we couldn't remove them.

[He blurts out a dry laugh. Oh, those admins...]
But I've got the code all taken care of.
[He points at his head.]
It's just a matter of passing it around in a way that won't attract unwanted attention.

Something similar happened to me.
[He wasn't so sure how useful this information might prove to be, but it felt relevant, and Ion didn't want to regret holding his tongue if it turned out what he had to share could end up being at least somewhat helpful.]
When I woke up during that time, I don't believe I was doing anything related to processing, but I was refilling the collar fluid on retrieval units. [Ion nods.] Like you said, there was a stylus involved. It may not be as important as knowing how to remove the collars, completely...but I do remember how I was made to use the stylus to access a sort of control panel on the back of the collars.

[So the styluses could be used for refilling fluids, too... Actually, now that he thinks about it, he wound up working with retrieval units.]
I wound up doing some work with retrieval units too. Not with collars, but I do remember there being this empty pod. One of the units hadn't checked in for months... Makes me wonder just how important the fluid is for them in the first place.

I woke up on the admin levels as well for a short time, I didn't really recognize where I was... but I remember facing a bunch of those shadow children. I don't know what it was or how it worked, but I had some kind of device that seemed able to injure them, with some kind of ray of light.
... given how much trouble they've been giving us, I hope there's something we can do with that information.

[After all, it's very much the same with most Heartless. A grim smile spreads across Riku's face at the thought, and he exhales softly.]
But I wonder how long they've had that kind of technology. Have those shadow children been here longer than we thought?
