Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba

The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.

Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.

Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

I'm not drawing conclusions of any sort just yet. I'm just saying that if soul nonsense is a thing now, it stands to reason that it was.

And whatever the purpose of this place was, I think it a viable hypothesis that whatever residents were here may have understood why they were here or what their fate would be.

Then what about the alternate worlds? Where would we come in for that theory?

Do I look like an expert? Even I can only theorize so many things at once with the given information.

Well, yeah, you kinda do. You're the scientist here.

[A pause, as he listens to more of the discussion.]

Then what about the explosions? Got any theories on that?
fionnuisce: (when all you got to keep is strong)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-09 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a fucking alchemist, not a detective. I can't pull solutions out of a hat, for god's sake.

[Frustrated, Waver pressed a hand to his head.]

That I can only guess at. And if I were in fact to guess...I don't know who among us could cause it, never mind 'why' or 'how'. But I also don't think the administrators are responsible either. So my guess is that either option A: there's some fucking idiot among our number that has actual explosives, or option B: there's an as yet unknown third party pulling this shit for equally unknown reasons.

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-11-09 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Problem with A is that I don't know if any of our powers can cause that sort of damage. And problem with B is, well, are there third parties?
fionnuisce: (when you've lost yourself completely)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-09 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
They could have found real supplies to put together explosives, possibly during one infiltration or another. And for the second matter--while I'm aware how weak a counterpoint this is--do we know there's not a third party?
puppy_lancer: (Default)

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-11-09 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...but for them to not have revealed any part of their existence before now...

[He scratches his head.]

A little too sneaky, if you ask me.

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-09 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I never said it was all that probable.

[personal profile] puppy_lancer 2013-11-09 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
So...got an option C lurking around somewhere?
fionnuisce: (when you've lost yourself completely)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-09 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Still not a detective. Why don't you use your head and try to think of something?

I ain't a detective either. If anything, I know even less than you about this mess.

If you've got nothing, quit acting like I should have everything figured out just because I'm smarter in some respects.

[Well, someone's taken note of their conversation.]

Option C is that one of the administrators is on our side - and option D is that one of them exploded it just to see what could happen.

... As for your earlier question about the prayer, the earliest published form of it was from the early 18th century, and the more familiar form of it is from the mid-18th century, both in England. So yes, child mortality rates were particularly high.

Uh...how would blowing up the elevator and the dorms help us? And what happened in 18th century in England?
crouching_sin: (looking over my shoulder for a chance)

[personal profile] crouching_sin 2013-11-09 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
By revealing some of the structural weaknesses in the tower, obviously. If we can exploit those, perhaps we can do enough damage to escape.

And cities and towns grew quickly, leaving people in cramped conditions with terrible hygiene, with contaminated water, improper sewage systems, and no room to bury the dead. About one out of every five children died before they were two, and in some places infant mortality rates were at seventy five percent.
fionnuisce: (pain held in your hands are shaking cold)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-10 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Except 'escape' would be ill-advised if we don't know what's outside.even if the perpetrator is attempting to help, their actions are far from in our best interests.

Was it eighteenth? More recent history isn't my strong point, but the point stands regardless.

[waver you should know this you're fucking english]

[He winces at the history lesson.]

High mortality rates. Sure seems right.

[He shrugs.]

Guess it ain't the best plan. Then again, destroying the glamour didn't seem to be the best plan at first either.
