Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba

The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.

Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.

Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

Ha! I'm glad that you like it. And less glad that it seems to be accurate.

[His question feels... not rude. Not overly curious, not with a tone of 'what ARE you' to it. He wants to know. She ought to tell him.]

I look like me because I'm dead. Or should be dead. I'm undead.

[She gives him a moment to process that, then continues.]

We call ourselves "The Forsaken". We're... what's left of The Lich King's efforts to slay every human in Lordaeron and turn them into an unstoppable unholy army. When his will weakened, a good number of us came to our senses, returned to our towns and fields, and tried to do the best with what we had.

It's the kind of world with... that in it. It's not a world that cares very much for us. I don't really blame it.

...Is that all?

[WAVER FOR GOD'S SAKE.]

Honestly, I was worried you might have been ill or something. I suppose that's a rather more extreme end of what I imagined. Although that is a strangely adequate example of the kind of place you must come from, if beings and ability like that are any common occurrence.

Is....

[She's at a loss for words, now. This man... this man is so unflappable that talking corpses cannot move him? Her jaw hangs open, a few dry noises escaping her throat as she tries to think of something to say.]

I...

[And then she claps a hand over her mouth and shakes her head, needing a few moments more to get some composure back.]

Strangely... adequate. Yes. I suppose it would be.

It doesn't bother you?

[The amount of fucks Waver Velvet does not give really can not be measured.]

The academy I teach at has several lines of study involving necromancy, my closest friend is a long-dead hero manifested through magic, and frankly I've seen far more disturbing things here than a perfectly amicable speaking corpse.

As long as you're not shambling around looking to devour human flesh, it's not really any of my business what your origins or existence really is.

[They are nega-fucks. Anti-fucks. Fucks that require complex calculus and imaginary numbers to properly express.

Annika, however, still has a fuck or two to give on the subject.]

Not everyone is quite as iron-willed as you. [It occured to her that he'd make a fine enough Forsaken. Which is a terrible thought that she immediately attempts to banish from her mind.] Not everyone is as... accepting of it as you. There are too many people from worlds that have issues with 'zombies'.

If worse comes to worse, I can set them on fire, but I'd rather not have to....
fionnuisce: (and it was not your fault but mine)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-10 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He smirked at that, as if the concept seemed amusing to him somehow.]

I'm used to people not being all that accepting or open-minded on ridiculous matters. Heaven forbid I should turn out the same way, right? [Shrugging, he continued.] There's plenty of fiction on the subject, but actual walking dead where I'm from aren't all that common. On top of that I believe I've read they're often familiars to vampires. Since you're very clearly not a mindless puppet, I can't say I'm very concerned.

While I can't say fire's a terrible solution to such a problem, but I'm usually more partial to cutting one down verbally...Or just breaking their nose, in extreme cases.

You do come from the mage hierarchy with all the heads up all of the asses...

[This can't help but make her smile. Such easy acceptance was such a rare and precious thing.]

I'm no one's puppet. We take pride in that, being masters of our own will.

Fire is an excellent solution to a vast majority of the problems that I've faced while out on missions. Even if you don't set them on fire, setting something nearby on fire can have fantastic effects!

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-10 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
As well you should, I'd think. Free will is something I occasionally think might be undervalued by most.

Unfortunately fire magecraft is a little difficult for me without proper planning ahead of time. So while the threat of setting someone aflame has a nice ring to it, I usually opt for other methods.
absentapothecary: (Curious)

[personal profile] absentapothecary 2013-11-10 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
You don't know what you have until you've lost it and found it again.

Hm, what sort of methods do you prefer? [Oooh, ooh, she was sure that the answer was bound to be interesting.]
fionnuisce: (and it was not your fault but mine)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-10 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
You might be surprised how far a carefully constructed reputation goes in getting people to shut up when you tell them to shut the fuck up. When that fails, I opt for either physical force or a familiar made out of liquid mercury.
absentapothecary: (Pleasant)

[personal profile] absentapothecary 2013-11-10 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Reputation... [She went wide-eyed, soaking in the wisdom of those words. He had a point. That said, the only reputation she had previously managed to establish back on Azeroth was a reputation for unreliability.]

Those both sound like they could be quite effective! Although the reputation saves you from having to get your hands dirty, I'd imagine.... hmm...
fionnuisce: (pain held in your hands are shaking cold)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-10 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hm...I could say that it does to an extent.

[Waver sounded as though he hadn't actually looked at it from that perspective, expression one of serious thought for a second or two.] Certainly a measure of authority does prevent me from having to use any particularly extreme problem-solving paths when just snapping at the offending people in question works.

[personal profile] absentapothecary 2013-11-10 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Authority gets you a long way, in that regard. I'm used to being a subordinate. Subordinates apparently get to set things on fire with much more regularity?

[She's really good at it, okay? But a much more serious thought comes to her.]

...how much authority do you have here? I've heard about... organizations. That's a bit of what this is all about, right?
fionnuisce: (move along just to make it through)

[personal profile] fionnuisce 2013-11-10 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Here, specifically? None worth speaking about. I'm a little more clever than most and that's about all I have working in my favor. [Waver shrugged, voice casual and none too bothered by his relative obscurity.]
