Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.

The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.

Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.

Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

That is what I have always believed, but many have gotten on my case for saying too much.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Keeping secrets leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Mine too. I don't think you should be lectured unless it was someone else's secret.

I think a big part of the problem is figuring out what exactly is a secret and what isn't. Some people want certain things kept quiet even when they aren't exactly a secret anymore.

[He thinks back to when the younger Waver had tried to do his survey of the Masters and Servants in the Tower and frowns slightly.]

I guess that's one of the few advantages of being alone from your world...

[Diarmuid frowns.]

I don't think I would want to be the only one from a world like mine. If it weren't for Waver...

[Yeah, he's not even going there.]

It's a little different when most of the people you know have been killed by you or died because of you. I think... of the people I know the names of, there's only four or five that don't qualify, and I'm not sure I'd want any of them here either.

[Diarmuid's going to wince hard at that.]

I'm sorry. Yes, that would make things very different...

That's all right. I'm glad you have one person who understands where you've come from.

I have more than one. In that, for once, I have been lucky. However, it's not just people from our worlds who can understand us. After all, April isn't from your world and I would say she understands you very well.

I didn't sound like I wasn't appreciating her, did I? [Aleph sounds a little worried...]

Perhaps a little, but I know you better than that.

[He gives Aleph a knowing look.]

You would never not appreciate her. However, sometimes it can be easy to let good things slip from your mind when you are speaking of bad things.

I have trouble remembering that sometimes.

[And it's really important to remember.]

It's all right. You aren't used to having someone so close to you.

[Diarmuid gives Aleph's shoulder a squeeze.]

It takes time. I am sure it will get easier.

I hope it will. Every conversation is when I should be practicing.

In that case, you will master it in no time. Just believe in yourself.

Unfortunately not. I thought it'd be a detriment to serious discussion.

Or it might have gotten people to loosen up a little more so they shared more information.

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

But point taken.

Some other time, we'll share another drink. The tower hasn't died yet.

[Diarmuid smiles, though the smile is slightly strained.]

I am sure we will. I just...suddenly have a lot on my mind.

I will probably be taking you up on that once I figure things out a little more. I hardly know what to say at the moment.

Once I have a better grip on things, I will come to find you. If nothing else, I may need a sparring or hunting partner so that I can get my mind off things for a while.
