Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.

The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.

Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.

Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

Hmph.

[Mostly Sephiroth doesn't agree with that statement, but it would be hypocritical of him to dismiss it entirely. He has been working with others in one form or another, in the Evil 'Alliance', even before the great science project. One thing never changes though, and that's Sephiroth's ability to 'talk easily'.]

[Indeed, there was that. Sephiroth has never had any doubt in his capability in dealing with the collar fluid, despite his personal reservations that had to be put down to start with. A little extra-study, a few more notes. His visit to the graveyard had buried a ghost a little.]

I'm only concerned that progress is taking too long. As you know, the longer it takes - not only will we have less time to act, but there is more of a chance that or intentions are discovered.

[ Hidetoshi's posture shifts slightly. He didn't need that reminder, that their days were numbered and that number was steadily shrinking. The span of time they could devote to precautions was dwindling even as the research teams worked hard to crack the collar fluid's secrets.

His forehead crinkles. The teenager huffs. ]

Tch. I know, I know. That's a viable concern. But our luck in evading that discovery has held out so far. We can't move things any faster than we already are doing, even if the process is not as swift as most would like. It's an annoyance, however it is a risk that cannot be avoided. [ A pause. ] I'm are everybody is involved is contributing the best they can, as you have.

[There is not a day goes by that Sephiroth isn't painfully aware of said countdown and what it could mean for him at the end. If it cannot be stopped, then it must be prepared for, post-haste. Releasing his core from the grips of the Tower being the first, logical step of course.]

That's right.

[Even if Hidetoshi has already surmised that there is a calculated, specific point to which Sephiroth is willing to contribute, he makes the comment regardless. To that effect, Sephiroth adds a further comment.]

As much as you understand it pains me to be unable to fathom this on my own.

[ You know, Hidetoshi was being a passive-agressive teenager dick for once in his life with the last remark, which was aimed at Sephiroth's ego, but feel free to chose to interpret that as him pointedly stating the obvious instead.

He smiles faintly. ]

Clearly. You have your own agenda... It's only right to respect that.

[ Moving on! Hidetoshi politely offers (even if he strongly suspects the likelihood of being declined), thinking that as roommates and fellow participants in the collar research project, it was best to pool information as the purpose of this meeting: ]

I'm going to take notes on the discussions when I can. Would you like to peruse them afterwards?

I have no more my own agenda than anyone else in this room.

[Ruthlessly blunt, as usual.

Despite popular opinion about Sephiroth and his motives, after all everyone does have their own reasons for refusing to submit to the Tower. Whether that be embroiled in finding a way way home and/or to restore their worlds - or simply to punish the Administrators for what they have done. To Sephiroth, he would argue that even acts of kindness and friendship are all personal agendas really.

But the topic has moved on.

Sephiroth spends a moment carefully inspecting Hidetoshi's expression at that offer. Out of all the people to expect such an invitation from, and it comes from someone he's been sharing a room with all this time. Resolving not to think too into it, Sephiroth lightly inclines his head in agreement.]

That could be most useful, yes. Who knows, we might find a correlation somewhere that we have both overlooked.

[ "A personal agenda other than the one we all share in common then, that of escape from the administrators' control," Hidetoshi mentally amends.

When Sephiroth is scrutinizing him, Hidetoshi's facial expression is one of guarded honesty, though the wariness comes more from the side-effects of his stay in the Tower than any unease inspired by the older man. ~~one day he will realize Sephiroth's an insane mass murderer, not just an egoistic soldier-person, but not today~~

The teenager blinks and then looks pleased by the agreement, mildly surprised by Sephiroth deigning to work with him even in a small way. He doesn't think of his invitation as anything out of the norm or unexpected. ]

Excellent! Very well, it will at least help in productiveness. That's that then.

[As a resident assigned to another collar fluid team, it couldn't hurt for Sephiroth to put out as many other feelers as he could. This farce has gone on for quite long enough already and there is very little that Sephiroth wouldn't concede to if it could somehow help him to climb to his rightful position.

A smooth smile of acquiescence creeps across Sephiroth's mostly passive expression. He follows with a further nod, to reinforce.]

We shall discuss this in more detail then, later.
