Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.

The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.

Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.

Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

So, uh, you said you didn't know what type of reel this is; how many types are there?

I dunno. One for every kingdom in Ireland?

[Congratulations, Lancer, you've managed to take Sheena's mind of the dance with the mention of one word.]

Ireland? What's that? Is that the name of your planet?

Nah, just the name of the island I'm from.

...You're one of the people not from Earth, are you?

[She shakes her head and seeing his expression, slows down and stops.]

No. I'm from a planet called Tethe'alla.

Te-the-alla...

[It takes him two or three tries, but he understands the name quickly. Definitely less of a tongue-twister than some other things.]

Nice. What's that planet like?

[Sheena waits patiently for him to get the pronunciation, smiling in encouragement each try.]

You got it. And yeah, it is a nice name.

[The planet's not what it once was, or she wouldn't be here, but he obviously knows that. So...]

It's not too bad. There's a forest near the village where I grew up that I used to play in a lot.

Ah, nice. It sounds a little like my place. There was a forest near my uncle's fort too. People could play and hunt there.

[She scratches the back of her head, her cheeks pinking slightly.]

Welll... "Playing" involved a lot of monster fighting. When I wasn't climbing trees!

[Yes, she's a tomboy.]

Did you climb trees? And what did you hunt?

Of course I climbed them! Even the biggest, tallest ones!

Oh, you know, stuff like deer and rabbit and birds.

[She looks him up and down critically and nods.]

I can see that. And honestly, so did I, but I think I liked hopping from branch to branch better.

[Then she becomes puzzled.]

You hunted birds to eat? [They had chickens.]

From branch to branch? Man, your agility must have been great!

[He shrugs.]

Yeah, when I can't hunt down anything else.

Yep! Well, thanks to my training, it was. But doing that only helped improve it.

[She shakes her head.]

But they move so fast, don't they?

[She's now looking up, revealing where she thinks he hunts them.]

I can down them with a sling. Or wait until they're on the ground searching for food. Or, hell, find them when they're in the water.

[She literally smack her head on that one.]

I never even thought of waiting for them to land.

[She gives him a contemplative look.]

You must have been pretty good if you didn't scare them off as you approached.

I guess I was. It was pretty common in my world, so maybe all of us were good.

[She tilts her head and regards him a moment before shaking her head.]

No, I don't think so. Different people can be taught the same thing, but not everyone can be good at it.

They can get good with practice. I know some of my friends sure practiced a lot for the things they know now.

Exactly! But then again, there are people who practice and practice, but they never become good at what they're trying. Not that there's anything wrong with that, that just means they're better at something else.

Because honestly? Having everyone good at the same thing or things can be kinda boring.

[Not to mention lead to a loss of individualism.]

I know what you mean.

...I'll tell you a secret. My brother is much better at singing and art than I am, though we're both good at lots of things.

[Sheena nods and tilts her head.]

Yep, just like that. And I bet there's something you're better at than your brother, right?

Yep! I'm better than him at metalwork, if I have to say so myself.

Metalwork? You mean like making weapons? Or jewelry? Or even both?

[Is it odd that her first thought is of weapons?]
