Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba
The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.
Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.
Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

it's okay! ;o;
Little else mattered, really. The undeserved kindness of a stranger, a friendly hand offered when nothing would be gained from it. The things Lorelei really loved in humanity, and Ion did them without thinking about it.
The reassurance at least does seem to settle suddenly frayed nerves at least. "Okay. Good. Some people know but not everything and it's probably.. better that way." Extremely so! He brightens right back up; it seems he can't keep a dim mood for long. "I really am glad you helped out that day. Even a bowl's hard to manage at that size."
There's a pause, and then he points. "Those round things are also pretty good but I don't know what they are."

He still had a hard time reminding himself that he wasn't the same Ion as the one Mohs and Van had forced him to pretend to be.
"And I'm glad I could be of help. If nothing else, at least it gave me a good start to making a new friend." As he says this, Ion looks down at the round things indicated on the platter of assorted treats Lorelei offered him. He picks one up, turning it delicately between his fingers. "I think this is a cookie," he explains, then takes a careful bite of it. "They are rather good, aren't they?"
((I don't know if they were actually meant to be cookies they were just the first round things I thought of LMFAO))

"It's good to have friends, isn't it?" Lorelei didn't have many, but he cherished the ones he had. If Ion considered it a good start to making a new friend, well, he's more than happy to promptly stick the young Fon Master right into the appropriate Friend category. "And it gave me a good excuse to come say hello today, so there's no regrets." Not for him. Not about that.
The cookie Ion picks up is scrutinized. "Is it? I thought those were longer, and skinny, with chocolate in the middle." A different KIND of cookie. "They are good, someone's made a whole lot of them. I'm not sure who though. If I find out, we should thank them." Because good things deserve thanks!
((Cookies work for me!!))

His smile only widens as Lorelei continues. "That's true. And I'm glad you did decide to, as well."
It's with delight that Ion watches Lorelei proceed to stare at the cookie in an investigative nature. "Cookies come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. Not all of them have fillings or coatings. This one tastes like a peanut butter cookie." He laughs cheerfully and nods. "We should! So much work was put into preparing food for the party; those responsible definitely deserve thanks for being so considerate."

There were lots of them.
He had a lot of cookie'ing to do. "I wonder if cookies come in any flavor, or just the sweet ones. What would you call a savory cookie, anyway?" A .. meat cookie, no that sounded weird. It had to be something else. "Do you know who's making them? I know some of the residents were doing quite a bit of cooking but not who's doing what or when."

Ion looked down the line of food on the table then gestured at one of the plates. "He made those sandwiches over there, I know that much. His name is Rick, have you met him?"
At the thought of his bashful roommate, he can't help but smile.

Mention of Rick gets his attention quickly. "Blond hair? Glasses, stammers a bit?" Or a lot as the case might be! "Oh yes, I met him once. He needed to have some glasses repaired so I made him some new ones. I should find out if they're still intact actually."
Possibly more will need to be made by now. "He seemed like an awfully nervous person. Mmm, maybe shy? Is he better, with just his roommates like you?" Lorelei rather liked Rick, he seemed like a nice guy. That the people Lorelei didn't like could be counted on one hand with fingers to spare was irrelevant; Rick was friendly and genuinely happy to get his glasses again, that's all that's important.

His eyes soften in a remorseful way as he considers the word shy in relation to Rick, however. He wouldn't use that word, personally. "He doesn't give himself the credit he deserves, but he's a great friend to have. I do hope you find more opportunities to talk with him!" Truly, for all of Rick's stammering and self-doubt, Ion had yet change his idea of the blonde as a man who was both compassionate and sincere.

"I'm sure I will, sooner or later. There's so many worthwhile people to meet still in this place, and he's definitely on the return list. And you said he cooks a lot of this stuff?" Maybe he'll have to visit a little sooner. A meal bar wasn't something he was much anticipating dealing with for long.
There's a pause, and then a thoughtful look. "May I ask something personal, Fon Master? It's about this place, and thus may be painful, so please feel free to refuse if it's too uncomfortable."
no subject
"Yes; I ran into him earlier and we talked about the food he had made for the party, a little. Ah..."
He trails off, looking a bit taken off guard at the sudden change in topic. Still, Ion smiles, his expression gentle. "Of course you may; I'll answer anything you'd like. Please, don't ever hesitate to ask."
no subject
And it's easy to tell someone they cook really well. It might not help on anything else, but appreciating good food surely won't be a bad thing! "Oh, what else did he make?"
Now that Lorelei has some idea of who did some of the cooking, he'll probably go investigate that specific item. There were so many flavors to try, and figure out if he even LIKES. There's a moment's pause; his subject changes could be quick, and probably he should stop assuming everyone else can keep up just because he can do it. "..You know, last time someone said that, I asked something and shortly later spent the next two thousand years at the bottom of a gravity well."
He doesn't sound even remotely upset about this. It amused him.
But the amusement fades quickly; this is a serious question. "You've been here for some time, as far as I can tell. How have you maintained any semblance of hope and sanity after what this Tower can do?" There was probably a trick to it. Something he could teach other people maybe.
