Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba
The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.
Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.
Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

Doc chose to remain silent for the time being but if asked, he would have quite a few things to say-- He could speak of the way he had managed to contact Ruana through the network and got the video about Jason Summers from her back in July, but most importantly he could keep people updated as to how the collar research was going.
Slowly, but details. ]
no subject
They do seem to have hit something of a wall of late though. Despite the pages and pages of Sephiroth's own personal notes which live in his sauna locker (and he hasn't brought with him), he's no closer on his own than the rest of the teams.]
Any further developments, Doc?
[It's his prerogative to ask, after all. Albeit quietly.]
no subject
Upon being called out Doc turns, but unlike most people in the tower who probably scowls or runs away upon seeing Sephiroth, Doc just stays there and answers very calmly. ]
Sephiroth, lad! [He beams-- Doc must be the only person in the tower happy upon seeing Sephiroth.] It's slow I'll concede, but I think we're getting somewhere! I have good hope we may be done by the New Year celebration if all teams are having similar results!
[ Only an estimate, so this may be off
Which it is since it may be done a little bit earlier. ]no subject
He'll even allow the 'Lad' to pass.]
Not so slow considering the limited, circulating nature of the means we have had available to us, either.
[He nods.] I am confident that as soon as this latest hurdle is gotten over, it will be smoothly advancing from then on.
no subject
Indeed! I wish we could have gotten our hands on some computer...
[ He nodded as well. ]
I agree! It is imperative it goes smoothly from now on, otherwise we will never have the time to put the results into practice! Even if it is done by new year, you all will have only six months left to act!

[Rei waves at Doc and bounces over to him.]
So how's the research going? Are you ahead of our group?
no subject
[ He smiles but shakes his head at the question, though he does not look annoyed. ]
It's not a competition! It's a common effort-- I don't know if our team if further than yours, but we're getting there, slowly!

So he comes over to say hello to the old scientist in his white lab coat and his dog. And check to see if any breakthroughs in the research efforts had been made recently he could've missed. ]
Good afternoon, Doctor. Do you need any help carrying those papers?
[ Politeness! ]
no subject
[ ... Nothing to be alarmed about, really. Although the (arguable) care with which Doc was protecting the documents indicated they were probably doing pretty well in their researches-- Only a matter of month at this point. ]
Besides, it seems as though there are some sort of entertainment in the form of a friendly rhythmic and civic ceremonial ritual about to be held, why don't you participate in it?
[ In English: a party. Hidetoshi was an excellent assistant, but Doc was very aware that people his age needed to distract themselves with such things once in a while. ]
no subject
[ He accepts the refusal easily. And he can agree with Doc's caution regarding the documents, considering they were the fruits of their months-long research efforts. It would be a disaster if a foul individual stole them or much more likely, they were just so careless as to lose them. ] That's right. We don't want those sort of people getting hold of these papers.
[ He'd grown to like Doc while working under him as an assistant in the group; sure, he was an... oddball getting on in years, but he knew his stuff and was stubbornly determined to do his part to help everybody in the Tower. It even only takes a second or two to decipher that last sentence into Japanese. Hidetoshi doesn't actually know what 'civic' means, but he can guess.
He shakes his head. ]
I'll do that later, once I've got everything important [ Hidetoshi gestures at the rest of the people gathered for the meeting and disclosing plot-relevant information ] written down for later reference.
no subject
[ Someone really ought to point out to him who the people in charge of the violet teams are someday. Sephiroth, Ganondorf, Zeal and Kiryu didn't exactly qualified as good hearted people, but details, probably.
He nodded at Hidetoshi then. ]
Alright, just make sure not to do too much! I had a friend your age in my homeworld-- I remember how he really didn't like paperwork. [A pause before adding something on an absentminded tone.] And he had that weird obsession with the Earth's gravitational pull.

[A familiar young man approaches Doc, giving Einstein a smile before turning his attention back at the scientist. And that impressive mess of papers.]
Do you need help with that?
no subject
[ Doc smiled brightly but then shook his head at question. ]
No thanks, I-- Wait, I actually have something for you! [He looks (painfully) through the mess of paper and takes out a file addressed to the blue research team, which he hands to Minato.] It's a copy of the results from my research team so far as well as directions.
I know your team has the suffered the most loss from disappeared people, but this should help you to continue the researches smoothly!
no subject
[He haven't die recently. That counts for something.
Minato blinks, before reaching out and accept the file from Doc with a smile.]
Thank you. I know Shion will appreciate this. We're a bit stuck at the moment. [And he can tell it's stressing the blue team's scientist out.]
no subject
[ He then nods-- Well, he couldn't tell this surprised him. The researches were something very hard even for professionals such as them. ]
It's understandable, even for me it is hard so I imagine it must be even worse for Shion. Unfortunately, there are no other scientists in the tower. I wouldn't be surprised if Ruana specifically avoided bringing more of us here!

After a few moments of just watching, Elena finally decided it was time to make her move and approach the good doctor.]
Excuse me.. but are you Doc Brown?
no subject
Yes I am indeed! And you are, Miss...?
no subject
Elena. I was told by a man named Enoch that you were involved in a little project. I'd like to offer my help.
no subject
Oh you mean the research project? Of course, of course, any assistance would be more than appreciated! What are your qualifications?
(no subject)
no subject
Doc, I got a question to ask; why did you let Sephiroth have control of the violet team?
no subject
Why? I don't see any reason why I wouldn't have! [He's a perfectly fine human being, what do you mean.] He's one of the only scientists we have in the tower and he accepted to share the violet fluid he retrieved months ago, as well as an instrument set.
In the end, he was the most logical choice to handle the violet team.
no subject
[Rubbing his hands over his head and down his face, his fingers clung to his cheeks, pulling his lower eyelids down a little. Seriously, Doc, this isn't curing his belief scientists were insane.]
He's not a goddamned scientist, he's a genetically engineered alien buttnugget super soldier. And he tried to destroy my planet with a giant meteor.
no subject
[ Sorry Reno, you're gonna have to try harder than that because that's Doc. He raises an eyebrow however and shakes his head. ]
Reno, people don't use meteor to destroy planets! [What's this, a bad video game?] Yes yes I know, he, Zack and Cloud told me about Hojo's doings last year! I had promised to try and work on a way to reverse the effect of the experimentation, but unfortunately I never had the time to do so!
