Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba

The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.

Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.

Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

True, and there's nothing stopping those weapons from falling into the wrong hands, if they're made available.

[Not that Ganon hasn't dug up those weapons already. Placing one hand against his brow, Riku sighs. There goes that idea.]

You think it'd be better to spread them out? Not gonna name specific floors or anything, but it worked with the chips a few months back. Don't see why it couldn't work with weapons.

Yes, I think that is the best option we have for now. We will lose some to discovery. Unfortunately, there is really nothing we can do about that, not until we find a way to free ourselves from the time suspension that lets them move around while we can't. Lets hope current research finds a way to do that sooner rather than later.

[His eyes flick the the walls again and he frowns. As much as he would like to talk about the collar research more than that, it is one thing he takes zero risks with. Weapons can be replaced. That fluid and the tools, not so much.]

Ugh, don't get me started on time suspension...

[He reaches up and rubs one of his temples.]

Guess it'd be best to just keep rounding them up. The more we've got stashed, the harder it'll be for them to replace them.

Exactly and maybe once we are free of these...

[Diarmuid taps at his collar and the fluid that so controls their actions.]

...we will be able to do more. Having the stockpiles available and ready to go means we will be able to start moving against the Administrators that much faster.

It'd be great to have real powers. I just wonder if we'll ever be able to get our bodies back on top of that.

[Then again, if they did, it's not like they'd be able to return to new shells, right? They'd be dead... gone. It's kind of a tradeoff.]

[So much of this is a double-edged sword with how they have become used to living.]

Since restoring our world involves restoring bodies to those who have them...

[Not all of them do, like Diarmuid.]

...I remain optimistic that we will since that is the goal most of us are striving for. Of course, as much as we want our bodies and our true powers back, I think it's also important that we think about the consequences of such actions, so we can be prepared for them. For one dying will become a lot more permanent, but perhaps more importantly if we get our true powers back, that means everyone in the Tower will have them back. That includes those who might not have the best interests in mind for the rest of us.

Well, we still don't know all the steps to regaining our powers...

[He reaches for his chin, casting a glance at the floor.]

Who's to say it'd affect everyone at once? We could always be more selective about it, but then you might spark a conflict. People could complain that it's unfair, the villains could try to seize the means to getting their strength back... No matter what, it's a gamble.

Everything in this place is a gamble, I swear...

[Diarmuid runs a hand through his hair, frustrated.]

There are some people who I would love to prevent from getting their powers back, but as one of my friend's has said, if we cut them out we might very well be cutting out the person who can actually solve this whole puzzle and then as you say, the villains will think nothing of banding together and doing anything they have to in order to get their own abilities back. I have a feeling some of the things the Administrators do to us will be kinder than what the villains of this place would do to get their powers back. I don't know if we can afford to fight a battle on two fronts.

True. And at this point, we kinda have to prioritize.

[Breathing a heavy sigh, Riku scans the crowd, just in case one of the villains lurks nearby.]

The admins are a mutual enemy-- someone we all want to crush... well, except for Zo and maybe Riki. Even then, we're still kind of the underdogs. I'd argue that it's better to put our issues with Ganon and his buddies on hold until we deal with Ruana.

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-11-24 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I...don't even know if I trust Zo and Riki...

[Diarmuid frowns slightly, but doesn't press the point. Most people haven't agreed with him on this, so he doesn't linger on it expecting Riku's response to be the same as the others he has gotten.]

Normally, I would agree with leaving them be for now and I have been happy to do that for a while. However, wouldn't it be my duty to act if I found out that one of them was planning something that could hurt everyone in the Tower?

[personal profile] keybearer 2013-11-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess for me, it's more that I trust them above the other two. That doesn't mean they're on our side, but they seem at least a little less crazy than Ruana.

[But, chances are, their loyalties still remain with her. They might even be scared that changing sides will lead to another Dax incident. To that end, it's probably best not to rely on handouts from them.

As for the villains, Riku nods and crosses his arms, turning away from the surrounding mob.]

And I'm not saying we should just ignore them when they act up, more that we shouldn't make them our ultimate priority. It's kind of a juggling act. We've only got a few months left, so we've gotta act carefully.

[Diarmuid cannot help but smile slightly at Riku's answer.]

That point I will not argue with you on. They are less crazy. Zo is anyway. It is just a shame that of all of them, he seems the most devoted to Ruana. At least, that is the impression I got when I talked to him during his last visit here.

[As the subject switches back to the villains, Diarmuid's smile becomes a frown again. A troubled look also enters his eyes.]

I will be careful--too many lives depend on it--but I believe something must be done. It is just deciding what...
keybearer: (it's go time!)

[personal profile] keybearer 2013-11-27 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
...Point. He probably doesn't see the problem with her at all.

[He breathes out a laugh-- a halfhearted one, at that, closing his eyes and giving a slight shake of his head.]

I've seen that happen before. A friend of mine once believed so strongly in someone that he never stopped to consider her real intentions. He just assumed she was his friend, that she was there to help, when all she really wanted was power and control. To her, he was just a tool.

[It makes him wonder if that's what Zo is. Another unwitting pawn? Something about that rubs him the wrong way, given his apparent age.]

I think the hardest part about acting against people like Ganon and even Ruana is staying one step ahead of them. You kind of have to stay alert, keep your eyes on them and making the right moves. It's tough, but if you ever need a hand.

[He extends his arm, willing his Keyblade into his grip in a flash.]

I'm always up for a little action.

Unless he is playing a very elaborate game with us, I imagine that Zo is in a hard spot right now. The other Administrators are his family in a twisted way, but he does seem to want to help us. It is why, aside from my inability to completely trust that he is what he seems, I dislike those who seem to actively be trying to turn him against the others. If he is just a confused boy with a amazing powers, how does turning him into a tool against the others make us any better than the Administrators who use us to satisfy their whims everyday?

[Diarmuid frowns as Riku mentions his friend. This is something he has seen happen too many times and that experience is clear in his voice when he speaks.]

To those with pure hearts, who wish to only see the good in others...Fate is far too cruel so many times. They are often stronger than we give them credit for, but that doesn't help when we see them in pain because someone has hurt them. Because their trust has hurt them.

[He shakes his head, lost in thought for a moment, though is attention is drawn back to Riku fully when the boy summons his weapon. In fact, a curious look crosses Diarmuid's face, since he has never seen a weapon quite like that before, though he pushes away his questions for a moment. Instead, he summons his own spear to return Riku's salute. Once he has done so, he dismisses the weapon as so not to draw too much attention to them.]

I greatly appreciate your offer. I will remember that as I hope that you will remember me offering the same to you. Now, if you don't mind, may I ask about your...blade? It is a type of sword, correct?

[personal profile] keybearer 2013-12-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Riku nods. Trying to force someone to choose sides causes just as many problems. It happened with Sora, creating a ton of friction, even if at the time he felt it was necessary. They need to tread carefully, and it's something he'll keep in mind.

But since they're on the subject, Riku might as well focus in on his Keyblade.]

Yeah, the Keyblade's basically just a souped up sword that's got the added bonus of opening and closing any locks, even the ones leading to the hearts of worlds.

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-12-09 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
The hearts of worlds? I know it was believed that the world was alive when I first lived, though that has changed as time passed, but an actual heart?

[Diarmuid gives the weapon an impressed and admiring look.]

How amazing. A great deal of power and a great deal of responsibility, I imagine. It is good you have one like Sora to help you bear that responsibility.
