[ Evatrice is.. well, pretty annoyed by all of this would be an understatement. Sure, she's not surprised or freaked out to see any of this, but it's still annoying, so annoying-- how could they do this to a great witch like her, huh?!

So the best way is to watch people who are worse off than her, maybe she can at least get a little bit of schadenfreude that way. It's the only thing that can satisfy her right about now. So as she sees him falling to the ground like that, she's standing next to him. ]

Wha-t, can't even handle something like this? [ But her tone's not gloating as usually. It's very obvious she's bothered by all this too. ]

[Barnaby stared at her blindly, not comprehending the entirety of what was going on. A woman that he couldn't recognize stood before him, but there was only person he had met so far who had that voice and that particular speaking habit.]

...I don't think even thousand year old witches would know what to do with this.

[His tone was flat, the struggle for some scrap of control evident with every syllable. He could handle this, with time. Barely.]

[ Well, he's right about that, at least. It's all so annoying to her, she really can't handle it in that sense either, but it's not as much of a breakdown as much as it's just pure anger. It's why she frowns down at him. ]

Well.. [ She tries to keep her tone airy though. Trying being the keyword here. ] .. I guess I did learn the people in charge here are all useless scum.

[There would be much trying in the coming days, a rational voice hidden in the back of his mind noted. It was lost in the chaos that suddenly stilled at her sentiment.

[ Her tone is still not up to its usual par. It's almost calm now, eerily so considering how she's so emotional usually, maybe it's a storm brewing underneath everything. ]

At first I thought they were fun, you kno-w? They were super creative about making people suffer, so I thought they were sort of cool..

[ Just like with Beatrice, huh? That witch had been so cool and cruel, but then she just had to go and get all soft, that dumb granny! ]

But to involve a powerful witch like me in it like this?! To take away my powers?! [ There her voice raises already until she's yelling. ] Like I'll ever forgive them for thaaat..!

[Barnaby, unflinching, took the verbal assault in utter silence and watched her from behind a layer of frost that that had settled over him at her words.]

This is what it feels like to be at the bottom of the totem pole. [His tone was sharp, like fractured ice.] You're no different than the rest of us.

[ Like she can accept that.. like she can accept that.. being like everyone else is what she absolutely doesn't want, it's an idea she's hated even before she became a witch. ]

[Two words, spoken without malice or rage, were his only responce to this tantrum. If the girl couldn't, then she truly would be a child in his eyes.]

[ Prove it..?! She grits her teeth - or what would be that motion in her normal body, either way. How can she prove it like this?! She doesn't have her powers, she doesn't have her body, she.. doesn't have anything at all..

So in the end she can't do anything but scream. ]

[ A little over the top there, Evatrice. But she always is, especially when she's emotional - it's why she's actually being a little more open than her usual smug high-and-mighty mode. ]

[Her irrationally poor habit brought out one of his own in turn: cutting logic.]

We discussed this before. The powerful can fall before those who don't have anything but their wits and their will.

[ At least she isn't on the verge of rage anymore, but it's still there, just boiling beneath the surface. As if the wrong word could set her off right away again. But for now it's just a frown. ]

There's a reason why this happened. We don't need to take a physical approach if we can figure it out.

[It sounded like an inhuman wail. It was why he suspected that this was'nt part of any plans.]

I thought it was part of all this. [ Because not one bad thing can happen at a time, right, clearly you need to have an annoying sound to go along with it. It makes some sort of sense. ]

I mean, why would anything seem off in a weird situation like this, huh? Anything's possible!

Then it's possible that they're just as unhappy as we are, don't you think?

Nobody would create a situation in which they suffer just as much as the people they want to suffer! [ Evatrice sure wouldn't, at least. ] I won't deny that the people in charge of this place are total morons who deserve to die ten times over, but they should be a little smarter than that, right?!

[The heated conversation with this girl had him thinking a little more clearly than he was, and his mind had immediately jumped to analyzing what he could of the situation. He regarded the girl coolly, neither judging nor approving.]

Have you thought that there might be more to this situation than you might think? No one expected this, which means that a third party had a hand here.

If there is something like a third party, then why haven't they showed up before all this time? It's not like the tower just started existing yesterday.

[ At least she's being a little more reasonable than usually - mostly that she isn't just talking about killing things. Mostly since she can't as she is now, but still.. ]

I've only been here for a month. Why don't you tell me?

[It was a sincere request, now that she was a little calmer. Perhaps they could work together, if she didn't continue the death threats.]

Aren't you a little too old to lecture people when you don't even know better yourself?

[ Of course it's not like she'll suddenly stop the insults, since she just has a sharp tongue, but it's better than.. well, how she usually is. ]

The people in charge here seem to fight among themselves all the time too. If there's any "third party" or whatever, then it's just one of them working against the rest.
