How can you call something like this "just an experiment"..? [ It doesn't help that this is the first one she experienced, huh.. she was only passive during the whole rumor thing aside from that one encounter with the boogeyman. ]

[ That doesn't really help, Romeo, even with the best of intentions.. it only gives her a second shock right now. ]

T-they did that to you..? [ But he's still so young..! ] But how can they?! How could they-- that.. that isn't right..!

Because they are bad. [He explained patiently] But if you keep your spirits up it will be okay, you just got to be brave.

[ Usually she can. Usually she's Asahi, brave Asahi, the one jumping in first in any line of fire just to protect her friends. But her friends aren't here. Her world is so far away and she suddenly feels so small and insignificant and lonely because of it. ]

Not like this...

I bet you can miss. [He steps closer and takes her wire hand in his, raising them both into the air] This is what you do when you can't keep your spirits up!

That gets him an incredulous look for a moment, as if she can hardly believe what's going on here. In fact, it takes a few moments for her to realise what he's doing.. and it's just.. so weird. To think that in a situation like this, a little kid is trying to cheer her up by doing something silly..

She still feels like she could cry if her body allowed her to, but at the same time she can't help but smile. ]

Ah, is that it..? I'm sorry, I forgot all about it. I guess I needed you to teach me.

[He nodded] It's okay miss, sometimes things are so bad it's hard to remember to keep your spirits up. But it's good to remember again.

You don't easily get down though, huh? To be cheerful that easily even in a situation like this.. that's pretty admirable.

[ Especially considering his age and all. ]

Well my friend once said that when all else fails the only thing you can do is keep living. Keeping our spirits up is important especially when things are really bad like this!

[integrous]

I think your friend sounds like a really smart person. [ Isn't it right..? The only thing you can do.. is keep living. Keep trying. Keep helping out others.. ]

She is! She is very smart and brave.

[integrous]

[ Normally at this point she'd reach out and pat his hair, but.. yeah.. considering the circumstances, it isn't really easy. All she can do is smile at him, and that might already be difficult to make out. ]

It's Asahi, Asahi Yuki. [ This kid has more of a western name though, huh.. right, like that whole "Romeo and Juliet" thing. ]

Nice to meet you. Hopefully we can meet sometime better again though.

[ If it'll even get better, but she doesn't want to fall back into her pessimistic thoughts again. Just hold on to what you have now, Asahi.. ]
