Midsummer Bash

Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

My creators suppressed me from developing anything that was not a part of their mission. At that point, they were nothing but mindless barbarians who wanted to see me perform optimally.

However, it all changed when I met a cherished friend. He helped awaken my AI to where I can feel and interpret emotions. He is the one who gave me hope, too, that I would be able to be free one day.

Your creators were all assholes. Even weapons should be allowed their own dignity.

[A pause.]

I'm really glad you met that one friend of yours.

They still hunt me down to this day--er, well... their descendants do. My original creators are long dead as it has been thousands of years since then.

Kinda stupid, if you ask me. If they had the time and effort, just build another weapon.

They did. CXEV5002 was programmed to terminate me with a virus. She succeeded and she and I fought for a long time while the virus corrupted my programming to where I would act berserk.

Eventually, it was flushed out of my system. but I was so tired of everything at that point that I did not care.

[ A pause. ]

Joshua. He was a prophet.

Wait, I thought your world had a lot of science? Where'd the magic come from?

You do not know the half of it.

Magic--? Oh, no. He preached what he believed and was awfully good at doing it.

[puppy_lancer]

A persuasive guy, huh? Was he the one who taught you how to be so motivational with your words?

Sort of. This book I have is filled with his teachings. I have read it thousands of times, but there is always something new to learn from him, even when he is not here.

"Help those who were in trouble and be persistent so that they are not left helpless," is one. I am not entirely sure what other passages you may be looking for as he had a lot.

On the topic of love, he said, "honor your beloved. If you truly do love them, you would not cheat on them with another."

He did not focus a lot on it, mainly because he preached about peace.

[ She has a straight face, but it's also hard to tell if she's joking around here. ]
