Midsummer Bash

Setting: Floor 25, July 5, afternoon
Format: Open
Summary: Lancer throws a party for midsummer, since the Tower obviously needs a breather.
Warnings: None so far.

[To be honest, Lancer wanted to have the party in the evening, sometime around twilight. That would have been the most romantic time for it. Unfortunately, when in the Tower, one had to account for things like monsters. As a result, he had to hold it during the afternoon. But it wasn't too bad of a compromise.]

[This was, of course, a more simple affair than Diarmuid's birthday. For food, he had hauled a couple of tables up here and lined the table with dinner food. The centerpiece was a cake which had a heart drawn on it in red frosting. In one corner of the meadow, he had used some boxes and tarp to make some sort of booth where people could hide from the sun (and steal kisses off of each other). In the center of the meadow, he had piled a large stack of wood, perfect for lighting a bonfire by the party's end. The structures had all been surrounded with wreaths made from the meadow's flowers.]

[As soon as he's done with the setup, Lancer will sit down next to the firewood pile, waiting for people to come.]

...You really think so? I do not mind wearing it as that robe is a friend's.

Yeah, I think so. But it's really up to you to decide. If it makes you feel better to wear the robe, go for it.

I have been up for change, so maybe I will. It is certainly easier to fight in since I will not have to worry about tripping over my robes.

[puppy_lancer]

Sounds pretty nice.

Fight, huh? How about sparring?

[immortalia]

Sparring I am fine with. I should warn you that I will not hit softly.

[puppy_lancer]

I'll be careful. Just make sure that I don't hurt you either.

[immortalia]

You would have to try very hard to hurt me.

[ Considering the fact that she, you know, doesn't have pain receptors, though? She won't feel it even if you do. ]

[puppy_lancer]

Interesting.

[There's something bestial to his grin now.]

It'll be a fun fight, that's for sure.

[immortalia]

It will be.

[ A pause. ]

What is in your arsenal?

[puppy_lancer]

Well, I've got my fists. And I've got the strongest spear.

[immortalia]

What sort of spear is it?

[puppy_lancer]

A special one that symbolizes me as a hero. Gae Bolg. Ever heard of that one?

[immortalia]

Gae Bolg... I do not believe I have heard of that weapon.

[puppy_lancer]

You haven't? It was pretty famous back in my place.

[immortalia]

You have to keep in mind, my world is known as Quaeda. I do not come from Earth.

[puppy_lancer]

[He nods.]

Man, I keep on having to remember that. Place where I come from doesn't really deal with other planets out there.

[immortalia]

It is not a problem.

[puppy_lancer]

What was your world like? Lots of science?

[immortalia]

Affirmative. Humans could go back and forth from space to the surface as often as they wished, and it turns out that they preferred staying in space instead. The surface is rather barren, but prosperous all the same.

I was born in Elpis Sector Beta, the second biggest space colony around Quaeda.

[puppy_lancer]

[He whistles.]

Sounds pretty grand. Were androids really common there?

[immortalia]

[ Notice how she's quiet, Lancer? And how her book's now resting on her lap? ]

...No. No, they were not.

[puppy_lancer]

[His expression becomes a little more serious.]

Oh. Then...you're a pretty special gal, aren't you?

[immortalia]

[ And then, a sad smile. ]

Yes. I am pretty "special", I suppose.

[puppy_lancer]

[He's silent for a while.]

I remember you saying something about you being a killing machine once. Is that what the people of your world use androids for? As weapons?

[immortalia]

That is what my creators did. They...sent me to kill countless men, women and children. I was the only one who survived out of the CXEV Program and I killed for years with no emotions.

[ A pause. ]

It makes you wonder how I was able to develop them in the first place, right?
