Characters: Anyone and everyone
Setting: Cafeteria, Noon, Nov 7th
Format: Anything
Summary: A party/discussion mingle after calling a meeting of the residents.
Warnings: tba
The anonymous post on the network was an invitation to gather, discuss and share information. Maybe they would get incredibly lucky and get to the bottom of things, such as who was behind the bombings or the strange things that went on during Quarantine.
Someone has been at work down here in the dining hall, moving the tables around to create a space in the middle in case people felt like dancing. Most of the chairs are around the outside and facing the middle, for everyone to see each other better. There was another space and some chairs for musicians, and a couple of the larger tables were set up with a large buffet of normal cafeteria food (because Zo wasn't likely to poison them) and resident prepared dishes, both clearly marked.
Of course, there was always the oatmeal.

Is it good to discuss anything here if you go by that? Don't worry. There is a reason I keep my voice down when I talk of the real important details, and I have no intention of mentioning where I have hidden anything. Besides, they already know we are gathering real weapons. When the large group went down a couple of months ago, they took some with them. Not nearly enough, but I am sure the Administrators caught on.
[Diarmuid nods at Riku, his voice dropping in volume slightly to make sure that the other conversations in the room mask their own.]
As for stashes, as much as it might seem like a good idea to have communal ones, I would advise against it. If we went that route, it would be too easy for one mistake to cause us to lose everything we gained. There is a lot to be said for organization, but chaos can be useful as well. If you are getting to the point where it's getting hard to store what you have, maybe it would be best to switch to distributing what you have gathered and making sure those you give them to know how important it is to hide them?

[Not that Ganon hasn't dug up those weapons already. Placing one hand against his brow, Riku sighs. There goes that idea.]
You think it'd be better to spread them out? Not gonna name specific floors or anything, but it worked with the chips a few months back. Don't see why it couldn't work with weapons.
no subject
[His eyes flick the the walls again and he frowns. As much as he would like to talk about the collar research more than that, it is one thing he takes zero risks with. Weapons can be replaced. That fluid and the tools, not so much.]
no subject
[He reaches up and rubs one of his temples.]
Guess it'd be best to just keep rounding them up. The more we've got stashed, the harder it'll be for them to replace them.
no subject
[Diarmuid taps at his collar and the fluid that so controls their actions.]
...we will be able to do more. Having the stockpiles available and ready to go means we will be able to start moving against the Administrators that much faster.
no subject
[Then again, if they did, it's not like they'd be able to return to new shells, right? They'd be dead... gone. It's kind of a tradeoff.]

Since restoring our world involves restoring bodies to those who have them...
[Not all of them do, like Diarmuid.]
...I remain optimistic that we will since that is the goal most of us are striving for. Of course, as much as we want our bodies and our true powers back, I think it's also important that we think about the consequences of such actions, so we can be prepared for them. For one dying will become a lot more permanent, but perhaps more importantly if we get our true powers back, that means everyone in the Tower will have them back. That includes those who might not have the best interests in mind for the rest of us.

[He reaches for his chin, casting a glance at the floor.]
Who's to say it'd affect everyone at once? We could always be more selective about it, but then you might spark a conflict. People could complain that it's unfair, the villains could try to seize the means to getting their strength back... No matter what, it's a gamble.
no subject
[Diarmuid runs a hand through his hair, frustrated.]
There are some people who I would love to prevent from getting their powers back, but as one of my friend's has said, if we cut them out we might very well be cutting out the person who can actually solve this whole puzzle and then as you say, the villains will think nothing of banding together and doing anything they have to in order to get their own abilities back. I have a feeling some of the things the Administrators do to us will be kinder than what the villains of this place would do to get their powers back. I don't know if we can afford to fight a battle on two fronts.
no subject
[Breathing a heavy sigh, Riku scans the crowd, just in case one of the villains lurks nearby.]
The admins are a mutual enemy-- someone we all want to crush... well, except for Zo and maybe Riki. Even then, we're still kind of the underdogs. I'd argue that it's better to put our issues with Ganon and his buddies on hold until we deal with Ruana.
no subject
[Diarmuid frowns slightly, but doesn't press the point. Most people haven't agreed with him on this, so he doesn't linger on it expecting Riku's response to be the same as the others he has gotten.]
Normally, I would agree with leaving them be for now and I have been happy to do that for a while. However, wouldn't it be my duty to act if I found out that one of them was planning something that could hurt everyone in the Tower?
no subject
[But, chances are, their loyalties still remain with her. They might even be scared that changing sides will lead to another Dax incident. To that end, it's probably best not to rely on handouts from them.
As for the villains, Riku nods and crosses his arms, turning away from the surrounding mob.]
And I'm not saying we should just ignore them when they act up, more that we shouldn't make them our ultimate priority. It's kind of a juggling act. We've only got a few months left, so we've gotta act carefully.

*At least, he'd barely caught glimpses of his own stalker at all during the masquerade ball...*

Thank you. I thought that is what I had heard, but in this place you never know how that could change. All things considered it is better to be safe than sorry. Now if only we could find a way to free those of you with 'friends' from them...

*It's hard to read when you're being watched. It's why reading isn't one of his more common distractions.*

[It's why he's so glad that he's been able to avoid gaining one so far. Especially, since Waver is so involved with the collar fluid research.]
At least they can be dodged for a little while, but never for long enough I'm sure.

*He tries to smile, but it's really only halfway joking. When he remembers it's there, it's so irritating...*

[Diarmuid's thoughts travel back to Tohko who had done that very thing to hers.]
I mean, there is really no way for us to find out if it has some kind of name or designation of its own. They don't communicate with us. Why not give it one yourself?
no subject
..."Sharar".

[Diarmuid repeats the name as it is unfamiliar to him.]
An interesting name. May I ask why you picked that?

[Diarmuid falls silent for a moment and then adds.]
It's kind of a shame the word means enemy. It seems too pretty for that.

It's quite easy to say harshly, though.
*...Though Enoch's voice was itself not harsh at all. Of course it would come out nicer-sounding when he said it, with his soft consonants.*
no subject
[Diarmuid laughs softly.]
And it's a silly thing to comment on really. Especially when I don't know much about the language of your world. For all I know, that is harsh.
