[Christmas Party Log] || [I wish you a Merry Christmas~] || [Open]

Characters: Everyone ever.
Setting: Floor 38- On Christmas Eve and Christmas.
Format: Action or prose, whichever format you prefer.
Summary: CHRISTMAS PARTY! Now that the Jason!Flu is finally over, all the characters can celebrate Christmas in peace (nearly?) and eat some acceptable food that was cooked by the volunteers. The 38th floor is, as usual, the floor where the party happens and has been entirely decorated for Christmas. The Christmas Party will be open for Christmas Eve and the entirety of Christmas. For characters who wouldn't check this floor, the party has been advertised on the network.

As is usual with these party logs, it's free game! Feel free to post a mingle thread for your character as they spend time in the party or an activity (singing, dancing? playing game? gift giving? anything). Add to that, you're free to start as many threads as you want, be they open or closed! Please put in the header your character's name or the activity's name. If a prompt is closed, then please make sure to write it in the header too!

Warning: Fun times?

The lounge on the 38th floor has been entirely decorated with ribbons, tinsels, Christmas balls and many other things- All hand-made of course. The first thing that can probably be noticed upon entering is the majestic Christmas Tree sitting near the entrance, decorated as well and with wrapped boxes at its feet. There are a lot of empty spaces in the room for people to dance if so they wish as well as empty tables to organize games or sit down, in short everything needed to run an activity. Oh, and there is mistletoe hung at the floor's entrances. Nothing bad really.

Most important there is a lot of food in here, placed on a couple tables. Most of that food comes from the tower's restaurant-- Someone must have done a lot of work for the tower these last days. At least here and now you don't have to risk a limb to get some quality food. Aside from the restaurant food there are also cakes, yule logs as well as many cooked meats and fruits.

Last but not least, this floor isn't as cold here as the rest of the tower. There are a total of what appears to be four fireplaces (hand-made as all the other decorations) in the room, one against each of the walls with fires lit within them. Of course these are not exactly normal fires and a lot of resources and energy has been spent to make them so they will last for the entirety of the party- After this they will be unusable, but at least until then they will keep the room at a normal temperature.

You've never heard of rubbing alcohol...?
marchwarden: (❧ as frigid as ice)

[personal profile] marchwarden 2012-12-25 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ Honestly, who would wish to rub alcohol upon their skin? That sounds rather unpleasant. ]

I cannot say that I do, but Elven medicine is quite different from that of your kind.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-25 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ She raises an eyebrow, although she does manage a small smile. ] Alcohol eliminates surface bacteria, which causes infection; it's not... a medicine. It's more like a disinfectant.

...Elven medicine?
marchwarden: (❧ what was that just now?)

[personal profile] marchwarden 2012-12-25 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
A disinfectant?

[ In all truth, he honestly doesn't really know what that means. The march warden wasn't a healer or a doctor of any kind. His knowledge of the healing arts was quite limited due to his warrior upbringing. ]

I see. [ He must've seemed a tad thoughtful now. ] You choose to clean the wound with alcohol rather than water. Odd, I suppose.

[ He smirked somewhat. ]

My people are quite fond of herbs and oils, you see. I have never heard of one utilizing alcohol for such treatment. It sounds as if it would be rather painful.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-25 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
It.... does sting, yes. But-- [ Hm. How to explain with her limited knowledge. ] Let's see, think of it that there are life forms invisible to the naked eye, just on the surface of your skin. About a little over a century ago they've discovered it's those things that cause many illnesses. [ Especially with past wars. More people died from infection than the wounds themselves. ] Pure alcohol tends to kill most of them. [ A pause, and then a sheepish smile. ] I suppose it's a bit scary, thinking that such tiny things can be-- or used to be-- so deadly.

[ Some reminiscing there, yes, although she does look up at him at the end. ] Oh, yes, herbs and oils are more timeless than alcohol. Although I know some people that would call them outdated all the same.

...Invisible?

[ Nice try on her part, but her explain may have baffled him more so. ] I did not know of such things until now, although it's known that the more grievous wounds tend to lead into sickness.

Who would dare call such methods outdated? [ He frowned somewhat. ] I see no reason why anyone would think so even with the usage of alcohol. Many plants and oils have aided in the wellness of various patients for decades now.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-25 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. Invisible to our sight, at least. Although if one has a certain type of high powered lens, you'd be able to see them.

Herbs are good for symptoms, yes. I myself find that chicken soup and tea is good for the cold but... as for killing the cause of the illness, it won't do much damage. [ Wait... ] Although one fungus has been known to do as much. Even the ancients knew how to use it as an antibiotic, can you believe that? Today it's called penicillin. [ And then thinking aloud: ] I do wonder if they have any here in the tower.

[ Gesturing for them to sit, Haldir lead the girl over towards the nearby cluster of chairs. He never once confessed much interest in the healing arts, but something about this odd conversation held his attention.

Perhaps it was because of how worldly this young maiden seemed to be. She spoke of so many different things, almost as if she's a scholar in the subject. Her fondness for the topic both unnerved and intrigued him. There's something oddly different about this woman that sets her apart from the rest. ]

A fungus, you claim? [ Goodness, he knows nothing of this. ] If you are in search of things, then why not journey towards the forest above? There are many healing herbs and mushrooms available to us here that could suit your cause.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-25 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ She'll follow him, sitting down. Alcohol, infections, and antibiotics-- really it may seem as if she is a scholar, but it's just basic first aid. Her supposd worldliness comes more from experience. There had been a time when she hadn't just been a maid; out in the world, knowing a little bit of everything came in handy. Surprisingly enough, that same knowledge is helpful even as a maid. ] A type of fungus, yes. I've been lucky to find it grown on trees in the regions I used to travel through.

[ But something he says surprises her. ] A, ah, forest? ...I suppose I haven't seen it just yet.
marchwarden: (❧ as frigid as ice)

[personal profile] marchwarden 2012-12-26 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, there is. You would find many different kinds of herbs and animals alike there.

[ He smiled at her. It would seem that this maiden is rather new to this realm. ]

'Tis a forest upon a floating island that I frequently haunt alongside my companion. We typically hunt there for wild game whether they be pheasants, rabbits, or even deer.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-26 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah-- that sounds almost... normal for this place in terms of what is there to hunt, I mean.
marchwarden: (❧ under the watchful gaze of a silver mo)

[personal profile] marchwarden 2012-12-29 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He smiled somewhat. ]

There's plenty of wildlife here, but sometimes I feel as if out choices are limited. Then again, that's just me lamenting over my lack of palate for different kinds of foods.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-29 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm rather new here, so-- if I am to go to the forest to look for anything, perhaps you would accompany me?
marchwarden: (❧ We smelt the brine)

[personal profile] marchwarden 2012-12-29 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be my honor.

[ The march warden said with a curt nod. ]

I shall teach you what I know of the creatures here, that is as long as you're willing to listen. However, be advised that certain areas of these woodland realms are quite dangerous.

[personal profile] red_tea 2012-12-29 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall; and it's all the more to not to alone.

Is there anything I should know in advance, such as... if the creatures are immune to any kind of attack at all...?
