Characters: Everyone ever.
Setting: Floor 38- On Christmas Eve and Christmas.
Format: Action or prose, whichever format you prefer.
Summary: CHRISTMAS PARTY! Now that the Jason!Flu is finally over, all the characters can celebrate Christmas in peace (nearly?) and eat some acceptable food that was cooked by the volunteers. The 38th floor is, as usual, the floor where the party happens and has been entirely decorated for Christmas. The Christmas Party will be open for Christmas Eve and the entirety of Christmas. For characters who wouldn't check this floor, the party has been advertised on the network.

As is usual with these party logs, it's free game! Feel free to post a mingle thread for your character as they spend time in the party or an activity (singing, dancing? playing game? gift giving? anything). Add to that, you're free to start as many threads as you want, be they open or closed! Please put in the header your character's name or the activity's name. If a prompt is closed, then please make sure to write it in the header too!

The lounge on the 38th floor has been entirely decorated with ribbons, tinsels, Christmas balls and many other things- All hand-made of course. The first thing that can probably be noticed upon entering is the majestic Christmas Tree sitting near the entrance, decorated as well and with wrapped boxes at its feet. There are a lot of empty spaces in the room for people to dance if so they wish as well as empty tables to organize games or sit down, in short everything needed to run an activity. Oh, and there is mistletoe hung at the floor's entrances. Nothing bad really.

Most important there is a lot of food in here, placed on a couple tables. Most of that food comes from the tower's restaurant-- Someone must have done a lot of work for the tower these last days. At least here and now you don't have to risk a limb to get some quality food. Aside from the restaurant food there are also cakes, yule logs as well as many cooked meats and fruits.

Last but not least, this floor isn't as cold here as the rest of the tower. There are a total of what appears to be four fireplaces (hand-made as all the other decorations) in the room, one against each of the walls with fires lit within them. Of course these are not exactly normal fires and a lot of resources and energy has been spent to make them so they will last for the entirety of the party- After this they will be unusable, but at least until then they will keep the room at a normal temperature.

I guess she's just being careful. Never know what might happen in this Tower when the experiments start stirring up.

And I'm fine. Just...run into some weird things.

[It was like the entire Tower had gone crazy and left him to be the voice of reason. A feat that should have broken reality.]

Maybe. I do miss her. [He misses Sakura and Aoi, too, but it's not as if they're here--which is probably for the best.] She said we could do something together again, so I might see her soon. [These are the little things, the little hopes, that allow him to keep living.]

Strange things? Like what?

You know how a while back, everyone was getting sick? Well, some of the people started going crazy too. It was...weird.

[People yelling at inanimate objects. Mistaking others for those they knew. Even attacking each other in some cases.]

I remember. I didn't get sick. But it might be because I am already.

I'm not surprised. It's like with the candy, before. Whatever happens, it gets worse somehow.

It is like an experiment.

Yeah, that's what all the admins call it. Jason even put a note up saying when it ended.

[It still didn't make him hate Jason any less.]

Except Ruana. It's games to her.

I thought so. So we're just here to be experimented on, again and again. [It's like something Zouken would think up, only he'd be draining magical energy from it somehow.]

I remember... She's like a child, isn't she? She might not know what she's doing, really. [Kariya finds it hard to be angry at anyone who is or is like a small girl.]

That thing with Dax seemed like an honest mistake.

[And he had worked hard to restore the languages back to how they usually were.]

Ruana...someone else put it best. She cares and wants us all to have fun, but she doesn't know how to care.

[He sighs.]

She's kinda sad if you think about it.

That was different, but it's usually worse.

[He nods.]

It is sad. Maybe there was no one to love her, so she never learned how. Every child should be loved. [His own family hadn't loved him, but at least he'd had Aoi.] She must have been alone.

[puppy_lancer]

[He snorts.]

If only she was left alone. There were people doing experiments on her.

[vermicompost]

You don't think that's the same as being alone?

[He frowns. This conversation isn't putting him in a holiday mood. But nothing that reminds him of his childhood would. He looks down at his camera, sadly.]

You feel more alone than ever when you're surrounded by people who don't care about you.

No one should do that to a child. [There's a vicious edge to Kariya's voice, unlike his usual tone.] I hope they were punished, for what they did.

They're dead now.

[And to him, that's all that matters. It doesn't matter who killed them or how they died. Just that they were all already dead so he no loner had to kill them.]

I'm glad.

[Kariya's smile is unlike his usual one, harsher. He's more than willing to kill someone, if they deserve it. He can feel the worms stir, responding to his anger, so he tries to keep it down.]

But it's still going on. What's happening to the children here.

[Lancer notices how harsh the smile is, but he doesn't mind it. After all, they share the same opinion.]

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what the fuck Jason and the others are trying to get out of this. Except for shits and giggles.

[Though it's a small consolation that Ruana doesn't like Jason either.]

[He may be weak, but he still has enough power to kill, with the worms.]

If it's an experiment, they might be scientists.

But sometimes it is more like a cruel joke. It seems like there's nothing we can do to stop it. [His lips twist. He's still trying to keep his emotions under control. He looks down at his camera, trying to remember happier times, with Aoi, to keep himself calm.] I hate it.

...I do too.

[Not just for the experiments, but for being here in the first place. For being saved when he should not have even continued to exist. It was just a bit better now that Ayaka was here.]

But there's people trying to figure ways out of here. I'm not sure how far they've gotten yet. I only know what doesn't work.

[And it frustrates him. He knows that just charging in won't work, but he doesn't know enough about anything else to draw up a plan for any other sort of action.]

[A drop of blood appears at the corner of his mouth, but he doesn't seem to notice.]

But it's not enough. It's never enough, is it? No matter what we do.

[No matter how hard he tries. He has to get back and win the War. But he also has to help the children here. But he's so weak. It isn't fair.]

There's been...progress. At least the peopl taking notes have a shitton of information.

[He stares at the blood.]

Hey, you okay?

[vermicompost]

[Kariya coughs, which results in a fine spattering of blood spraying from his mouth, though he puts up a hand to hold it in. His face twists, the "veins" in his face pulsing. He hardly hears what Lancer says about gathering information. Suddenly, he isn't thinking very clearly. It's like with Zouken, and Sakura. He hadn't been able to stop it.]

I just–hate it so much. I hate being powerless. I can't do anything.

[puppy_lancer]

Calm down!

[It seems the more emotional Kariya was, the worst his worms acted up.]

Look, I think we should get to the infirmary and talk over there.

[He knows the medicines over there probably won't help, but it just feels like Kariya would be safer over there.]

And...you can do something. You're not that powerless.

...You can make Rin smile.

You're right. I shouldn't– Not at the party. All right.

[He coughs again and nods, agreeing that they should go, trying to calm himself down. He doesn't want to ruin anyone else's good time.

When Lancer goes on, he blinks, and smiles with his bloody mouth.]

Yes. That's what I want to do. To make them smile...

[He puts his hand on Kariya's waist.]

I'm gonna carry you, okay?

[Because Kariya looked too frail right now to walk on his own, especially since he was already excited.]

All of them? You really are a nice guy.

[Meanwhile, Lancer's taken to prioritizing Ayaka. He can't lose another Master.]

Oh. Okay.

[Being carried wasn't something he was used to, but he didn't disagree. When the worms acted up, it was harder for him to move. He nodded, reaching up to wipe the blood still oozing from his mouth.]

Rin and Sakura especially. [And Aoi.] But the children, yes. They shouldn't have to be in pain. They should be happy.

[He doesn't want anyone to experience anything like his own childhood.]

[puppy_lancer]

[He scoops Kariya into a bridal carry.]

I never did do a count of all the kids here. But by the way you're talking, it's a lot.

[And at least one other inhabitant in this place kills kids for shit and giggles.]

[He makes a slight noise upon being picked up, as being moved causes him some initial pain, but he settles into Lancer's grasp.]

I don't know how many either. Children and young people. But I'm so– weak, I can't help them.

[There's more bitterness in his voice, and some blood leaks from his eye.]

Maybe not in a fight.

[He's not gonna lie about that point.]

But you can make their lives happier in other ways. Like organize a storytelling session or something. You've got the network.
