To Drown Out

Characters: Enoch never intended it but, everyone who's up for drinking!
Setting: Cafeteria, throughout the day (sorry team indigo)
Format: Party, do what you want!
Summary: With Riki being generous with the food again, Enoch decides to see, first, if he can still get drunk at all, and second, if being drunk will help keep his new headmate quiet. A (not-so-) surprising amount of people are likely to be interested in drinking with him.
Warnings: Drunken shenanigans. Possible angst because he might actually talk about Eleven under the influence. Might also talk about gory details of the meeting with Ruana. Did I say drunken shenanigans? I think I need to say that again.

*Much like just before the glamour failure, Enoch sits with several bottles of red wine from the kitchen stock. Unlike then, he has no extra glasses out to share with. He is not drinking to a plunge into the unknown. He is drinking to drown things. Mostly, the voice screaming in his head.

But nothing really changes the fact that any modern wine is of much higher quality than anything his time could produce, and he's savoring its flavor too, in long sips. It's almost a distraction, itself.

Speaking of distractions, he certainly won't object to any company, and if it turns into a larger gathering he may get so caught up in it he'll forget how much he's had.

And so might you. Care to grab a drink for yourself? He won't mind if you ask for some of the wine he has.*

((ooc: Of course you can approach Enoch like any other log, but due to interest expressed this is actually more of a mingle! Start games and contests if you'd like or just hang out and have your characters get drunk or bodyguard or spectate. Please identify new games and contests in the header to make it clearer to people scrolling through! Naturally there can be several threads of the same game, considering this isn't organized at all.

[Aleph may be the heaviest drinker of any less than two year old anyone has met.

He's not terribly irresponsible about it, but wine on the menu means Aleph will definitely sit around and drink. He's used to finding information at bars, but just the alcohol itself is certainly a plus...

So, when he spots the drinking party forming, he'll happily take a seat and a bottle from the kitchen.]

[Wearing something like a hooded cloak that looked suspiciously like a piece of fabric with a button sewn into it, a man whose face was covered sat nearby, a can of beer in his hand.

He was looking around at the gathering crowd without comment, seeming to take in the surroundings carefully.]

[April may not be the most social person ever, even if she is getting better at it, but there is no way she could resist when she saw that a drinking party was happening.

She's still the kind of person to sit by the sidelines and watch, but she's grabbed herself some wine to drink and is already happily drinking away.]

*Whether April stops to talk or not, Enoch will give her a smile and a raise of the glass in greeting, and in approval of someone new joining in, as she comes out of the kitchen with her wine.

He hadn't expected this to become so social, but he certainly wasn't complaining. Drinking was always better with other people, regardless of immortality or psionic imprints.*

Lancer - Open!

[Lancer pokes his head in to find Enoch sitting in the cafeteria surrounded by bottles.]

...Woah, gonna drink all that?

[Of course, while he's marveling at Enoch and the bottles, anyone else can come up and talk to him.]

[ From a few tables off, Raven snorts mildly, though his tone is light. ]

Be rather pointless to bring it all out if it wasn't meant to be drunk, don't you think?

[Rick's never been one to drink in a vacuum, so he hasn't had the chance to really savor the new beverages Riki has provided them with. Now that he's in good company, though, this is a perfectly legitimate excuse to not only enjoy fine wine but also the people that it's brought with it. He finds himself sitting in the center of a shifting crowd, not exactly engaged, dropping in on conversations and laughing at passing jokes. He finishes his steak and the wine bottle comes his way again, he tops off his glass, sips idly, tops it off again...]

[He leans back in his chair and smiles, eyes closed in vacant tranquility, while the blush slowly takes over his face and remains a permanent fixture. Considering the large volume of people around him, Rick seems remarkably relaxed. Approachable, even.]

[Zoe is a lightweight, and she is very aware of this. However after getting killed before, she really needs a drink. Or two. Or ten.

Either way, the white-haired woman seems to be really working through her drinks, and she's doing a good show of not looking as drunk as she actually feels.]

[Guess who found that the cafeteria was serving "European" beer and is incredibly excited about it? Prussia, that's who. With a can of beer in hand, he zips up to Enoch, radiating excitement.]

Hey, Enoch! BOOZE! Isn't it wonderful? I think Riki's my new favorite admin. Uh, if I had to have a favorite, that is. Riki should be in charge right now, right?

[ Oh, good, they finally have some form of alcohol in stock again, nevermind that it's all really just water. Sure, they'd had some in May, but he hadn't much a chance to indulge much then, and quite a lot has happened since then.

Considering the psychelesis phantoms of only a few weeks previous, he's a little disinclined to keep to his regular habit of stopping by the eleventh floor in the evening, so.

So. (Basically, he really needs a drink.)

Instead, for the night, he'll be found in the cafeteria nursing a bottle (or more) of wine, idly watching people (and the involved shenanigans) pass through during dinner and afterwards between sips from his glass.

...Someone who looks that lithe shouldn't be able to pack away so much alcohol. ]

*As night begins to fall, Enoch is having trouble even sitting upright. It took at least four bottles considering food and water intake, and the stalling of talking to people.

"At least" because that's all that can be counted at the table in front of him. Who knows how much he had from bottles being passed around?*

This...was more than I expected.

*He smiles faintly, inebriation adding an extra warmth to it.*

[Naoya has plenty of experience with alcohol. He's lived more than long enough to get drunk in interesting and inappropriate ways.]

[Unfortunately, in this body, he was born a skinny Japanese man. They are not particularly well-known for holding their alcohol.]

[That's why Naoya is swaying a bit, three empty bottles of beer next to him and working on a fourth.]

[One not!daughter is just gonna place a steadying hand on his shoulder when she spots him swaying. Even if she's swaying a bit herself.]

[With all the delicious milk-even if it was oddly colored and different from what she was used to-Yotsuba was spending a bit more time in the cafeteria..but she hadn't expected to see the huge party that was going on here. Upon seeing a few cans of booze, she gave them a puzzled look.]

I wonder what these have?

[So, curious, she opened up a can and started to drink some of it down. It..was pretty bitter and disgusting to her, so she would grimace and stop before looking around at everyone around her. Why did they all seem to like this?]

[Instead of switching it like the others Lucifel took the can from her.]

[After he has ruined the fun of a few children who tried to drink - enjoy the trolling kids - Lucifel approaches Enoch, tilting his head at him.]

... What are you doing?

Trying to drink enough.

*Enoch smiles up at him, a warm, lazy smile. It suggests he's already a little drunk. There is already a fully drained wine bottle in front of him and a second only about a quarter full.*

King's Game

[After some drinking has been going on by people not Zett because his uncle is stupid, Zett disappears and returns with several slips of paper and a hat.]

If anybody wants to play a game, now that some of us are drunk...

This is King's Game. One of these papers is labeled 'King' and the rest have numbers. The person who draws the king paper, gets to give an order to any number he wants, and the person who has that number must follow the order.

Then the papers go back in the hat and everyone draws again.

[For better or worse, Yotsuba wasn't drunk, but she liked playing games, and she liked Zett, so when he started explaining a game that everyone could play, she would smile and wander up to him, holding a glass of chocolate milk.]

That sounds like fun! Yotsuba would like to play!

[America has always been kind of curious as to what beer and wine taste like. England had alcohol a lot, after all, and from what America knew of France he seemed to like wine. There had to be something interesting about it, then, and America was going to at least take a taste.

He has to climb up the table to reach it, but he examines the beer with a bit of uncertainty. It can't be bad, but he knows he's not supposed to have any anyway. But a little sip wouldn't hurt, surely?]

[Lancer looks down at the child reaching for drink, but doesn't make any comment.]

Go ahead. It's pretty much a free-for-all here.

[ Avenger, surprisingly enough, has pretty much never touched brooze in his life.

But he knows the taste and while he'd have normally missed this drinking party since it's taking place in daytime, 'Shirou' had been absent from the cafeteria for several days now and when he wanders in to find wine on the menu with plenty of people already inebriated, the Servant snags a few bottles for himself before taking a seat. Why pass up free shit?

We suppose this means you can go bother the asshole whose drinking in the corner alone, and occasionally laughing crassly at others' progressively more drunken and stupid antics. ]

[Sola-ui too had started drinking alone, but the more wine slipped down her gullet, the more social she became. So now, she's walking around the cafeteria, sometimes stopping to watch the antics of others.]

[She waves to Avenger.]

Boy. Have you seen Diarmuid?

[ As Doc had come to the cafeteria for a short break from his researches, needless to say he was quite surprised at seeing all the people gathered around, as well as all the drinks available. He grabbed a small glass of wine. Why not after all? It couldn't hurt.

If you happen to find Doc before he drinks the wine, you may be able to hold some sort of discussion with him. Otherwise...

Immediately after drinking the wine, Doc will stand still for maybe, five seconds? Before brutally collapsing on the ground, totally unconscious. After a single, small drink. You have here someone who can't hold his liquor. ]

[Richtofen, who'd been standing nearby, calmly leans over and quirks an eyebrow as soon as the man hits the floor. He stares for a few seconds, takes a delicate sip of his white wine, and raises a hand to signal the other party-goers.]

...I do not think this one has taken too well to the beverages.

[chaos, for better or worse, could not get drunk. It was impossible for him, but that didn't mean he couldn't drink liquor and enjoy it with his friends. He just couldn't get tipsy. So, when he saw the large drinking party forming, he would smile at everyone and nod at Enoch-whom he owed an apology to, due to the way he acted during the Shadow invasion-before grabbing a bottle of wine, sitting down in a chair, and drinking.

Of course, chaos also looked to be about fifteen or sixteen, so people could harass him about that if they wished.]

[ Sertoria was content to just be a wallflower during this event. After all, for the past few ones, that's exactly what she did here. She looks around every so often before finding chaos. A smile crosses her lips and she makes her way over to him, beaming merrily. ]

[In this life and the last, Archer has preferred his wines red. He's very appreciative to see the return of alcohol with this new month, and he's quick to help himself to a good few bottles.

...And he's not at all surprised to see several others making use of the alcohol as well. This seemed like a good opportunity to watch people.]

[ This one, on the other hand, would not know good alcohol if somebody smashed him across the face with it.

But Avenger is people-watching too from the table he's sitting at in the corner, and drinking from a cup of wine in slow sips that tastes bitter on his tongue. ]

[Sola-ui was not a big drinker, but recent events would have driven anyone to drink. So she can now be found in a corner, pouring herself cups of wine and gulping them down. She doesn't make any gestures for anyone to come sit alongside her.]

[Kachessa is going to partake in this opportunity. Getting something to drink with others around. She won't really hang out with anyone specifically, but she's grabbed a bottle and is drinking right from it. Who cares that it's wine? She needs the buzz.]

Beer is an adult thing, but the way Romeo sees it they might all be dead by the time he's fourteen so he should be allowed to try some. So he stands on tiptoes to grab a bottle and then goes to find his friends (or anyone really, anyone who wont confiscate his drink anyways).

Guess who was not having any of that right now, Romeo? This girl. When she saw Romeo wandering around holding a bottle, she sighed and..tried to pat him on the head.

"Romeo, you shouldn't be drinking that. It won't taste good, and you'll get drunk. The adults here are drinking quite a bit more than they should too, but it's more dangerous for you if you get drunk and run into a monster later on."

The new monthly rotation is only days old and already it seems a significant proportion of the Tower has already found the glamored alcohol. Sephiroth was on his way towards the stairwell up to the Library, when the drunken party had drawn his attention.

He'll sweep around the Cafeteria, observing others without even a drink in hand. Once the source of the 'festivities' is found; Enoch is scrutinized from a distance, an eyebrow raised in light disgust. Any respect he holds for this other man seems to spiral downward even more every time Sephiroth comes across him. And after the last time he'd shared a drink with others in the Tower, Sephiroth has no inclination whatsoever to be joining in.

Let them kill off as many of their fake brain cells as they like, there are much more important things to be concerning himself with. Sephiroth once-overs the entire room again before turning for the stairwell as intended. unless, of course, anyone has a problem with that]

[somewhere along the line, a well dressed midget with an axe in a shoulder sling has gotten her hands on a bottle of wine]

Ah, I remember this! Is for playing games, yes?

[The line is delivered with a certain undercurrent of well, obviously. Nue is a little curious about this girl, though, if only because of the axe, so... She kind of has no compunctions at all about leaning in and invading her personal space while she looks her over.]

[(For the record, attempts to examine Nue in the same capacity probably won't yield particularly accurate information, seeing as her appearance is distorted by her Seeds of Unknown Form, as usual.)]

[Much like his older self, Sephiroth sees absolutely no purpose in drinking alcohol. The beverages are not genuine, and he doubts they would have any affect on his physiology regardless.

However, since the alcohol seems to be attracting attention, Sephiroth decides to sit and wait, studying those who arrive and observing their actions: the smallest, palest people watcher.

He quite gravely begins to eat a sandwich. As has been his habit lately, he's still wearing the tattered red headband the admins had given him. It's bright and stands out, compared to the rest of his plain, gray clothing.]

[Sephiroth was not the only one watching the others. Merciless had wandered down into the cafeteria to grab a hot meal for a change, and found herself in the middle of an unexpected drinking party.

She knows perfectly well what those drinks are, and has no interest whatever in them. So she is just standing and watching the scale of the party with a bemused expression while wondering if some occasion for celebration exists that she had no knowledge of.

Then she notices the eating child. Which reminds her and, after looking over the menu, she orders a corn dog, a few sandwiches, and the chicken salad, then sits down and sets to eating her large meal. After a while, she speaks.]

Would you know the cause of this? [A sweeping gesture at all of the drinking going on.]

[It's nice to see everyone drinking and having a good time for once. He's enjoying the sight. If Kariya tried to drink, with his stomach, he would almost instantly become sick, so he makes no attempt to partake, nursing a cup of tea instead.

As usual, there's not much he can eat this month, so he's having some very plain, very watery oatmeal, more like oat soup. Yes, even though he's been here a while, Kariya is stuck eating the oatmeal. He has all the luck.

He's weak and only has one whole arm (his missing one still not having been returned to him, as he hasn't died again), but he's quick to nod and smile at anyone who looks in his direction.]

[The first thing that Lancer does when he sees Kariya is to rush up to him and clap him on the back. Maybe a little too hard since he's rather excited and less than sober.]
