We're Gonna Party Rock Till The Day Comes Up!
Characters: EVERYONE
Setting: Floor 38
Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.
It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.
At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.
Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.
As Eikichi had said, no pressure.
...Except for coming, of course.
Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol. As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.
On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.
The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.
There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.
All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.
It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.
[OOC - Hello and welcome to the party log! Let's mingle and have fun because the tower doesn't let us have much of it. You can start a brand new thread when you are blind dating and mark them (EIKICHI AND MIYABI ), or if you want to do something like "JADE DJs A FEW SONGS FOR YOU" and people can reply to that. You can make multiple threads to a reply to, so if someone wants to talk to Eikichi, then someone else does later. Just make sure any closed threads are marked with [CLOSED] so other people know they can't pop in! Otherwise...it's free game.

Clearly because there was nothing better to do in this gods forsaken tower! And at the very least there'd be more pleasant foods than what the subpar cafeteria offered.
Maybe it wouldn't be too bad, if anything he could summon a meteor to crush them all like gnats, or stop time and mark them as cattle. In the meantime however, he'd make sure to keep an eye out for this secret encoded message on his piece of paper... That's what it was for right?
no subject
It's an odd feeling. Nice, but odd. Different. She's different. For one thing, she can't remember the last time she'd been on a date. Not even a romantic date, just...a date, with her and someone else who actually wanted to be with her. Everything else in the tower thus far had been chance meetings and plans and necessity. Nothing like this.
She could have not come. She could have stayed in her room or pulled up weeds in her chosen patch of garden and, really, who could have stopped her? The pain of losing Willow had faded to an ache in her chest, but it was still there and she knew from painful past experience that it would be a while before it faded entirely. Really, if she had any idea who'd signed her up for this thing, there would be Words.
...even so. It's been so long. She needs to be out, needs to be with people. Sometimes, that's the best way to start the healing. Besides. She's been a long time without love, real and honest and true love. A girl can dream, can't she?
Tara will dither by the door a bit, her card held tightly in both hands so that only the little flower symbol is visible. Gnawing on her lip, glancing nervously around as though expecting or hoping her match for the night to just present themselves, it's clear she's out of her element, and that the waiting is pretty hard on her. She might catch your eye, clearly wondering if she should come up and ask to see your card. Finally, she will:]
Um...h-hi. S-Sorry. D-Do you mind...?

He had no intention of actually coming until Eikichi had shoved this symbol thing into his hand. (Maybe he had been avoiding the guy after that network post.)
Still, he was determined to enjoy it. Hey, it was free food, and he had a small bottle of vodka to liven things up, too.

When he spotted Reno, he turned to him and looked down the paper he himself had in his hand. Welp...

So, he waits a few feet away from the doorway for Sakuma and Genda, arms crossed and an eyebrow slightly raised. (For the record, he, Sakuma, and Genda are all wearing these uniforms, Kidou's cape tied around his shoulders.)]

He wouldn't have come actually; if only it weren't for this dear Princess Zelda. She, who felt necessary to whine and complain on the Network about him being in those blind dates, about him being evil and dangerous. Well then, if only to spite her, here he was. He didn't look all that different from usual. His clothes were very similar to those he was usually wearing, if anything they looked new.
That was a special day after all, wasn't it?
He looked at the small piece of paper with a symbol he had been provided with, and then shook his head. This was ridiculous, but he forced himself to look, if not happy, at least normal and not too angry. And looked around.
no subject
...And then does a double take.
It's funny, he's less angry that Ganondorf is actually here and more surprised that he'd even show up to a party, because from what he's seen so far, Ganondorf seems like he's Lord of the No-Fun Zone, so seeing him here is kind of surreal.

So he had to come. He wasn't going to let down whoever that was that may have been waiting for him. ... Considering how quiet he generally was, it might have been better for them if he had not come. Like usual, he looked very formal- Full black suit on together with his sunglasses.
He stared at his piece of paper once more... Whatever. He looked around, searching for familiar faces, trying to gauge what other people were thinking about this party. Not looking for his date though. If he had a date with someone, they'd find him soon enough.

She couldn't help but giggle when that piece of paper was handed to her. Her sign? She could so handle that.]

Blonde hair was braided much more neatly than usual, although he had considered leaving it loose, and he wore the clothes he had been left after he had gotten out of the pods. They may be his fathers back home but he was given them here and they were by far the nicest pair he had, aside from what he had worn to Aragorn's crowning.
In his hand he held the piece of paper he had been given, carefully folded into a small square. He remembered exactly what symbol it was so he didn't give it more than a single glance before folding it and going inside. The prince was still a bit curious, and dismayed, about being signed up for this but he wouldn't complain. If it made someone happy then he would be happy. He didn't pick up a corsage though, since he really had no idea what they were actually for.
Gamzee ==> Be pale chauffeur.
[It was harder to move today. Usually after a pie and a half, fluid, dreamlike movements came naturally to Gamzee because he felt simply weightless. ...Now, there was a distinct and quite hard-to-ignore weight. Specifically, on his arm. Karkat reminded him of an unwilling barkbeast being pressured for a walk. Honestly, he couldn't say that that analogy couldn't be applied to his moirail at pretty much any time of the day or night, but this time, he had good reason, Gamzee supposed.
Well, not a good enough reason for him, anyway. Which is why Gamzee took the initiative to sign Karkat up for the blind dates under a FOOLPROOF DISGUISE THAT TOTALLY DIDN'T END IN DISASTER, and then made sure he actually showed by dragging him here tonight. Awesome moirailing skills, he knows, he knows.]
Come onnnn, brother! You be harder to fuckin' tote around even than when I all gotta get the move on at my motherfucking pile, you all is. Ease the fuck uuup!
Karkat ==> Be the unwilling barkbeast
he can still try though. ]

She pulls out all the stops.
Sure, she's not one of the (un)fortunate to have been set up on a date, but that hardly means she shouldn't try to look her best, right? Who needs escorts, anyway? She enters without much ceremony either, glancing appreciatively at the array of flowers but ultimately passing over them. Better to leave them for those for the 'couples,' after all. Besides, she's not entirely here for fun and games, though that is a benefit she will happily reap.
She's here to make sure certain people don't ruin what very well may be a rare moment when the people of the tower are truly happy.]

She improvised by wearing her tanktop under her jacket and no tie. That way if she got too hot, she could just throw her jacket somewhere and worry about it later.

Best of all? No Shinra Company.
Still, she had cobbled together a sort of simple dress in the workshop, remembering the lessons she had as a very small child standing next to her mother. It brought back fond, if a bit melancholy memories.
She looked at the crowd, wondering who she could have been given, and a small thrill rushed over her. Who knew what would happen?
I'm so sorry, Tifa; I hope this is all right?

He supposes it's going to be pretty short-lived anyways, at least that what he's planning it to become.
At least he had the presence of mind to leave his cloak behind for once, and while his other set of cloths isn't exactly festive either, it's probably still more fitting for this occasion.
Unlike the last party he attended here, he doesn't linger around the entrance, but is quick to join the mingling. He's got quite a few things to do after all.]
