We're Gonna Party Rock Till The Day Comes Up!

Characters: EVERYONE
Setting: Floor 38
Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol. As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

[OOC - Hello and welcome to the party log! Let's mingle and have fun because the tower doesn't let us have much of it. You can start a brand new thread when you are blind dating and mark them (EIKICHI AND MIYABI ), or if you want to do something like "JADE DJs A FEW SONGS FOR YOU" and people can reply to that. You can make multiple threads to a reply to, so if someone wants to talk to Eikichi, then someone else does later. Just make sure any closed threads are marked with [CLOSED] so other people know they can't pop in! Otherwise...it's free game.

To say Equius was ‘scared out of his wits’ would be an understatement.

He never signed up for this. He distinctly remembered making an effort to keep away from that message that had been put up on the Network. If someone else wanted to have their own fun, fine, he had no qualms with it; but not him. He didn’t need a quadrant filled, thank you very much, he was perfectly fine with Nepeta, even though she wasn’t… here… at the moment. That, and he was kind of a giant social catastrophe waiting to happen; by the end of the night, he knew, he would be huddled in the corner wishing that the darkness would swallow him up entirely. So yes, it could be easily said that he Did Not want to be here. But he was here anyway — why? Well, the short answer was, he didn’t want to be a bother. For all he knew, the entire operation could fall apart if one person neglected to show. He didn’t want to cause such an uproar.

Equius already knew what his identifier for the night looked like; it was an herb or leaf of some kind, with vines curling around it. A Unicode symbol, of course. Looking around, it seemed that whoever had arranged this event went with whatever patterns he could make up on the terminal keyboard, because everyone else had something that could be found in Dingbats or Miscellaneous Symbols.

Well, he wasn’t going to show his, at any rate; just keep it in his pocket and look for whoever held the other half. It was safer that way, right?

"Why are there two circles on this piece of paper?" That was a stupid question - he already knew. Why was he signed up? Nobody knew. Maybe it had something to do with that "Operation Babe Hunt" those guys on the network were talking about? Kakariko Village didn't really have any women Link really cared about in "that way". "Say, where are you?"

Link called out meekly, holding up the piece of paper.

...Oh, that would be it, then.

Link, enjoy the guy walking over to you holding up a matching slip of paper. He looks about thirteen years old, but he also has gray skin and orange horns shaped like arrows. Welcome to the wide world of alien romance. He found with some surprise that it was one of the people dressed in green; there were several he had seen around the tower in more or less the same outfit, but otherwise never looked exactly the same.

no worries :)

"Oh, hey."

Huh. A boy? He kinda looked like something the Dark World would've spat out. "I'm Link. What's your name?"

By the looks of it. it was a boy, at least. As far as he could tell. Link wasn't too good with the opposite sex, much less the same sex - which is why he pretty much didn't talk a whole lot. But a date was a date - not like they were expected to marry or anything. Link simply smiles at his companion for the day.

Spawn of the Dark World would probably be a good approximation for the monstrous species called trolls. ...Not that Link could tell it looking at this whimpering specimen, of course. But at least he could speak. "Um, Equius. Equius Zahhak." He was far too on edge to attempt something dangerous like a smile, so instead he shifted his weight a bit and looked down at the boy.

Well, it wasn't like they had to... do anything... right? Oh God, he hadn't asked. Watch him be forced to fill a pail with this human (did humans even use pails?) by the end of the night. Ahaha. Oh god. Oh god. "So, from here we're just supposed to... talk," he said. "I-is that right?"

[personal profile] zelda_is_your 2012-07-15 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess?" Link shrugged. "Back in my world there wasn't a term for 'date' - mostly arranged marriages. And they certainly weren't for people of the same sex - it was for preserving bloodlines. Or something. I never really bothered with it since my family isn't exactly rich."

Huh. This was the most he spoke in a long time.

"So. What's your name?"

"Oh," he said thoughtfully. That was actually interesting. He didn't know all that much about human culture, he realized, and Link's words had definitely come as something of a shock. "Does that mean you can't reproduce with others of the same gender? We, um... bloodlines are strange, because generally trolls never see the people who conceived them. Fertilization always happens in an external source, and the genetic material gets kind of... mixed together, to see what happens, so no one really knows how related they are by blood to another individual. I mean, some highbloods think that there are others who have identical genetic material to them somewhere else in the timeline, and they are related more intimately that way, but... well, we're not really sure if it's true." That last sentence was the polite, fearful way of saying 'they're just doing it to make themselves feel special'.

Also, don't worry if you don't speak much, Link. Get Equius on a topic (or sufficiently upset) and he never shuts up.

"...Wow. Uh. I'm sorry, I... sorry." Pause. "Equius Zahhak."

"Your world sounds. Entirely different to mine." Yes, Link, that was the understatement of the age. "Sounds like you don't find it odd, though, so I guess neither will I. But yeah, as far as I know, children require both a mother and a father. Unless they were stolen, I guess." As far as Link knew, immaculate conception didn't exist.

"So. What do you want to do? Drink, dance, party?"
geometry: <lj user=murkrows> (> Equius: Explain. Gesticulate excessive)

[personal profile] geometry 2012-07-22 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I don't know." He folded his arms, then, and looked around uncertainly. Truth be told, he wasn't exactly sure what one did at a party, but he wouldn't allow himself to ask Link out of some flickering shadow of pride. "Er... what did you want to do?" When in doubt, throw it on the other guy.

Smooth. "We could go and shout profanities of exultation at the band...?"

Yeah, that sounded good.

"Let's go and do that."
geometry: <lj user=murkrows> (> Equius: Run.)

[personal profile] geometry 2012-07-22 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
The smoothest. "--What?"

Why would you even do that??? PROFANITIES ARE EXTREMELY UNCIVILIZED, LINK. And he, for one, would not be caught shouting them in public, certainly not at the people who were presently giving up their own time and effort to entertain him.

"Well, I also have this magic powder that turns people into green blobby things for a limited time..." Link scratched his head. "I mean, if you're giving me that look you tell me what we can do for fun."

He just dead-eyed Link for a second there, realizing with slow-dawning horror exactly what kind of a person he got dropped in with via luck of the draw. "How is... how is that fun?" Granted, his idea of 'fun' was locking himself up in his workshop for hours on end, but at least that doesn't hurt anybody!

"Well, for one, people really freak out when they don't know what's going on!" Link grinned. "And with this many people form so many different worlds, they got to have different reactions to it!"

"You just want to watch them get upset?" Wow, um, that sounded... too close for comfort. From the way this conversation was going so far, Equius would have guessed that this Link person would fit better on his home planet than he did.

"Well, if there were cuccoos I'd throw them in the midst also to see what happens. Don't you have any sense of curiosity at all, Equius? Or, what do you want to do for fun?" Link was getting a sense that his companion wasn't all to enthusiastic about his suggestions.

No, he... really didn't have a sense of curiosity. Or, he did, but he had just gotten too good at malnourishing it. Honestly, if Link met up with almost any other troll, they would probably be happy to indulge in his 'curiosity'... but Equius kind of sucks at being a troll. "Um, I don't know. What about something... not destructive? Is that alright?"
zelda_is_your: (lantern)

[personal profile] zelda_is_your 2012-07-31 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Link gave this some thought. He spent most of his time bombing walls, mowing grass, ramming into trees, stabbing enemies in the face with his sword, throwing bombs at creatures, and using various magical rods to set things and people either aflame or frozen. There wasn't a single thing he did that wasn't destructive in nature!

"Well, like I said before: dancing, cheering on the band, or other party stuff. Or we could. I dunno. Draw stuff on pieces of paper?" He seriously wasn't used to not doing things that involved incinerating the object in question.
