Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

April had been to a few parties before, but she usually tended to know most of the people of them. And while she did want to meet new people, she... well, she was a bit too much of a wallflower.

Which is why for now, she'll simply be watching everyone else as she munches on a piece of cake. She'll be more social... eventually.

Aleph knew April better than anyone else in the tower, which is to say not very well. But he knew her well enough to stop by her.

"How's the cake?"

[technologic]

It seems like she's surprised that he stopped by her, as she blinks at him and quickly swallows the piece of cake she was chewing.

"Oh, um... It's pretty good! It's simple, but it tastes nice..."

[alephbet]

"Then I'll have to have some. How are you doing?"

She seems fine, if a little shy.

[technologic]

April tends to get nervous around crowds, especially crowds of strangers. But she does at least manage to give Aleph a smile.

"Ah, I'm fine, besides the few encounters with the monsters I've had... How've you been doing?"

[alephbet]

"Good. I've been talking to people, mainly. Trying to get my bearings," Aleph explains. He always does this in new places.

[technologic]

"Ehe, that's good. I'll admit, I've mainly been info gathering on my own, though looking into the network hasn't really explained much about this place." She sighs quietly; she didn't like the feeling that her hacking wasn't able to get her the info she needed.

[alephbet]

"That's a shame... Still, it's good that we're all in one piece and can throw a party like this," Aleph says. He considers patting April's shoulder but decides against it. That worked with drunk people, or people he knew for more than a conversation.

"Yeah, that's true. And hopefully this place won't do anything again for a while." She munches on her cake again, silent for a few moments.

"... Have you been to a party like this before?"

[alephbet]

"Not one in a tower we were all trapped in, no. But I've been to disco parties."

[technologic]

Blink, blink. "... Disco?"

[alephbet]

"Dancing." His smile turned the tiniest bit wicked. "Want to join me?"

[technologic]

"H-huh?" She blinks up at him again. She does like dancing, but she isn't exactly... well, graceful. "I-I'm not too good at dancing, but if it's alright with you..."

[alephbet]

"I'm not going to mind. Come on."

With a smile, he leads her over to the dance floor. The current song is just the right thing to groove to.

She quickly finishes the rest of her cake slice before following him. Though her nerves quickly get the better of her and she fidgets, looking unsure. Most of the times she had danced before, she was around people she knew and she still can't shake her anxiety of being around strangers. But she's willing to try, at least.

April just watches the furious dancing, blinking a few times, before grinning.

"Wow, you're pretty good!"

[alephbet]

"Thank you," Aleph answered, not stopping in his dance. "Want to try?"

[technologic]

"Um..." On one hand, she's a bit awkward about all this. On the other hand, it does look fun.

So she pushes back her nerves and gives him a nod. "Ah, okay!" And she'll watch his dance for a moment longer before trying to do the same.

[alephbet]

"You're doing really well."

Actually she probably wasn't doing as well as Aleph, but nobody compares to Aleph in fabulous dancing except maybe Gimmel. Gimmel was something of an exception.

[technologic]

Yep, she isn't nowhere as good at fabulous dancing as him, but she's trying.

"Ah, thanks! I haven't really danced much before, so I'm hoping I don't trip up."

[alephbet]

And that was the important thing.

"I'm sure you'll do fine."

[technologic]

"Hopefully. I was also a bit drunk when I danced at parties before, so maybe I won't be as bad as I usually am."

[alephbet]

"In my experience, being sober usually helps."

[technologic]

"That's true!" She laughs quietly. "Though drinking tended to make me less nervous about dancing, even if it made me more bad at it."
