Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

Why in the blazing hells of the Void had he agreed to this mockery and nonsense!

Clearly because there was nothing better to do in this gods forsaken tower! And at the very least there'd be more pleasant foods than what the subpar cafeteria offered.

Maybe it wouldn't be too bad, if anything he could summon a meteor to crush them all like gnats, or stop time and mark them as cattle. In the meantime however, he'd make sure to keep an eye out for this secret encoded message on his piece of paper... That's what it was for right?

After seeing the sign that explained why she'd ended up with a yin-yang symbol on a scrap of paper, she has to admit it's a pretty neat way of setting this up.

She's pretty sure she'd appreciate it more if she wasn't a direct participant, but hey!

..and she's here for another reason, too. A secret mission, as it were. As is, Sayaka sidles about as casually as possible while the lounge starts to fill. It's kind of.. comfortably familiar. Nothing too terrible happened last time someone endeavored to throw the tower a party, right..? Maybe that luck will persist. Okay, sure, so there wasn't the hilarious element of blind dates in the mix that time. But still!]</sub>

[ Okay, so Leon was pretty sure he hadn't signed himself up for this. Unless he did and somehow completely forgot about it, but he doubts that really could've happened, right? Why would he have random amnesia.. And while he isn't sure who did sign him up then, he isn't going to complain. It's a blind date, after all, a blind date. As if Leon would complain about going on a date ever, nope siree. Finally he has a chance to score again with a chick in this tower, it's better than most other stuff that has happened here so far.

At least he bothered to change his usual punk rock gear for.. a different set of it. As if Leon would ever dress formally at a party. Nope, he's just standing there in a different set of clothes from his truck - something akin to this outfit, to be precise.

He's looking around to find the other person with the heart sign on their paper, probably looking pretty eager.. ]

[Ryoji had done what he could to make himself look all nice - kind of difficult when he suffered from a lack of clothes here, but he had at least made sure his hair lay flat. Clutching his paper with the symbol, he looked around the room, trying to find the cute girl who had the matching mark!]

[Excited though she was, Yuko couldn't shake a sense of foreboding that came with having to look for someone labeled with a biohazard symbol. Still, they'd set things up pretty nicely, especially for what they had to work with. She almost felt bad for not necessarily going all out the way everyone else had, since she just as easily as anyone could have contributed.

Well, always next time for that.

She'd gone for a sort of dress-casual look for the event, with Kanji's help, of course, customizing an underused blouse with some spare materials into something a little more date-worthy. Hopefully, it wouldn't go to waste.

As she looked out for her match, she held up the sheet of paper with her own warning label on it, in case he, or less likely, she, spotted her first.]

Lelouch Lamperouge <- ⚜ -> Fi

[Much as he hated the concept of being invited into the party right as his plan is nearing the beginning phase, he had to keep his face in order to not cause any suspicion to arise from the ones stuck in this tower. Therefore, here he is, waiting for his date partner with a bored look in his face.]

[He might not have signed himself up, but somehow Yosuke had convinced himself to try and make the best of the night, no matter what the situation was. Besides, even if his life was complicated as hell right now, the prospect of meeting someone new was at least a little exciting - even if he didn't expect anything to come from it]

[With that in mind, Yosuke had dragged himself to the party - not going so far as to dress himself in anything out of the ordinary, but at least making sure his ordinary looked its best. Every strand of hair was neatly in place, and despite himself, he found a smile just wouldn't leave his face. Even the blind date method was clever, and he couldn't help but love that his secret symbol was an eight note. But what to do with it? He'd been briefly tempted to go all out and ask Kanji to stitch an eight note into his jacket sleeve or something, but he didn't feel like spending the effort when it was likely the team seamstress was busy anyway]

[So the obvious answer was to clearly nick a bit of tape and tape it to his back. Problem solved! Now all he had to do was wait to be found while he grabbed a drink]

Already part way into the party and Reno still didn't see his supposed "date," and he was wondering if they had even showed up for it. Didn't matter to him either way, there were plenty of people to talk to and plenty of food to eat.

That was sort of hard to do though. He was used to eating so little, saving all the stuff they had gotten during June for the kids, the sight of all that food made him stare at it mournfully, standing next to the tables. He couldn't eat anymore. After several bites he had gotten full and didn't want to go back to his room with a bellyache.

[Surprising thing, Naoki had a coat on. However, he didn't have anything fancy, so he came to the party dressed in a simple pair of pants and a shirt that he had found in his trunk.

It itched. He really didn't like wearing shirts anymore. But he'd do it for tonight. His hand held a symbol and Pixie stood on his elbow, looking around for him to see if she could find the missing symbol, giggling the entire time and telling him to look faster.]

Ammy watched the people milling about with interest; this was an even bigger festival than the one at Kamiki! Not so much with the fireworks, though, sadly, but maybe she could fix that later.

For now, she had a corsage of white violets carefully held in her mouth. She'd given the paper card a good sniff earlier, so it should be a simple matter to track down the owner of the other card. AND THEN THE PARTY WOULD BEGIN.

[ Gamzee had signed Karkat up for this. he hadn't planned on arriving either. Karkat's idea had been to ignore the entire thing and just sit in his room and read. or go watch some movie if he could stomach it.

his moirail obviously had other plans. Gamzee had swooped in like some friggin ninja and snatched Karkat up. that's why he's here now and looking none too pleased about it. there's that paper in his hand, but he's not really actively seeking the other out.

but his eyes are scanning for its match. just in case... ]

The party wasn't anything like the parties she'd been to back home. It was much more modern than that. It was surprising to see so many people in one place, then again she had no frame of reference for how many people actually lived in the tower.

With the piece of paper in her hands she floats around looking a little lost. The only reason Wriggle signed up in the first place was because everyone else was, she wanted to see what the fuss was about. The problem was, now she was here she had no idea what to do.

The sign would have been helpful if she could actually read.

Instead she inspects the paper, holding it up to the light to see if there was anything else, any secret codes or messages that might clue her in.

[Illusions were extremely handy at times! Now, for instance, when he could make himself look like he was wearing a blue button-up shirt and dress slacks. No need to change - though he did make sure that he had dried completely. It would probably put his date off if he smelled like wet fur.]

Dave was wearing his red, plush suit to the party. He didn't really care for this whole date thing, but he guessed it couldn't be too bad. Plus, he said he'd help with music so he was going to be here anyways. He pinned a pink rose to his suit jacket before walking farther into the room. The slip of paper was also pinned to the front of his jacket to make it easier for whoever he got paired with to see it.

For now, he was just looking around. At least Eikichi put effort into making it look party acceptable.

Welp... Time to find her date, whoever had the cloud symbol given to them. By now she had tossed her jacket somewhere and was just walking around in her tanktop, pants and boots and her insanely long hair was not tied back. It was never tied back.

So. Yeah. Lina's not too pleased about this whole blind date thing, and if she ever figures out who put her up to this, she's probably gonna light them on fire. Or punch them. Something painful.

She's not making any effort into looking around for whoever else has the umbrella paper - she's too busy partaking of the food, and her own paper is half-crumpled some distance from her plates. She still thinks this is a terrible idea, but there's food to be had. Maybe it's not all bad.

The suit Rusty's wearing isn't the Turk one, and his shirt's red instead of white. It's a suit he's worn to a party before, but not in the tower. He's not too sure who, or why, he was signed up for this nonsense but he's willing to go along with it.

Hey, it might turn out for the best after all.

It is with drink in hand that he finds himself under the weird little sign that matches the one on his card.

The hell even was this? A box with an X in it? Oooo-kay.

Beat was pretty sure he didn’t sign up for this stupid thing, and he had a pretty good idea of who did it in his place. Dates of any kind had never been his style. But, you know what, it was a free chance to spend a night with a lady paying attention to him, and Beat was not about to turn that one down. So onto the floor he goes, having made no attempt to look more presentable; he still looked more like an alien than most of the actual aliens in the tower, but you know, whatever. He didn’t have another outfit.

Douchebag McGee was basically slouching around with the paper attached to his shirt, because he didn’t really want to keep holding it up like an idiot the entire time. He probably looks like kind of a dumbass with headphones on while the music is blasting from every available orifice, but they have antennae on them. Bitches love antennae.

[ Jade is about 99% sure that there has to be some sort of mistake. After all, she just got here -- how could someone sign her up for a blind date without her knowing? Aside from that, she already had a boyfriend, albeit one from one that wasn't...here right now...but that was totally beside the point! She couldn't date someone else, that would be like cheating across universes! And that was bad!

Still, it would be rude to leave another person just wandering around in a horridly awkward fashion, so she decided to go anyway. Maybe they could have a friend date!

Clutching the cross symbol paper so that it faces outward, Jade is kind of awkwardly standing off to the side. ]

[ Rude had whatsoever no idea who it was he had to meet. To be honest- He wasn't doing much effort to find out. He still thought this whole thing was ridiculous and he would leave if there was no sign of his "date" after a while.

The Turk was standing near a table, impeccable in his dark suit. And like always, he was wearing sunglasses. That didn't help to make him look friendly really. If anything he looked like someone on a job, and that was not so far from the truth. He held the piece of paper in his hand, and anyone paying attention could easily see the symbol on it.

He was looking at the people passing by the table, more specifically he was looking at their paper, but it was the most effort he would do to find them. ]

[ Aphrodi is fairly curious as to who his Blind Date is, so he's actively looking for whoever it is who has the same symbol on the piece of paper as he does.

He decided to put his hair up today, curling it and sweeping it to one side with the help of copious amounts of hairspray and jeweled hair pins. Oh, and he's wearing a dress -- beauty knows no gender, after all. He wanted to look his best, whether his partner is a willing one or not. ]

To say Equius was ‘scared out of his wits’ would be an understatement.

He never signed up for this. He distinctly remembered making an effort to keep away from that message that had been put up on the Network. If someone else wanted to have their own fun, fine, he had no qualms with it; but not him. He didn’t need a quadrant filled, thank you very much, he was perfectly fine with Nepeta, even though she wasn’t… here… at the moment. That, and he was kind of a giant social catastrophe waiting to happen; by the end of the night, he knew, he would be huddled in the corner wishing that the darkness would swallow him up entirely. So yes, it could be easily said that he Did Not want to be here. But he was here anyway — why? Well, the short answer was, he didn’t want to be a bother. For all he knew, the entire operation could fall apart if one person neglected to show. He didn’t want to cause such an uproar.

Equius already knew what his identifier for the night looked like; it was an herb or leaf of some kind, with vines curling around it. A Unicode symbol, of course. Looking around, it seemed that whoever had arranged this event went with whatever patterns he could make up on the terminal keyboard, because everyone else had something that could be found in Dingbats or Miscellaneous Symbols.

Well, he wasn’t going to show his, at any rate; just keep it in his pocket and look for whoever held the other half. It was safer that way, right?

[He's not sure how he ended up here. ...that's a lie, he knows why he's here. Because he's a doormat and the way Eikichi worded his post and the fact... arg. He hasn't worn the suit in a while, but he supposes he might as well. It's a party and all.

So there he is, all sharped dressed in his alien glory, hiding behind his sunglasses and wondering how to go about asking people to see if they were the person he was supposed to go on a date with.

This coded message wasn't getting him anywhere! What was he supposed to do with this so called 'date'? It wasn't a calendar or time measurement so what else was there? Clearly these minions didn't know how to explain correctly as per usual.

Ad why did his secret icon have to be a flower?! Why not an explosion? Or skulls? Or POWER?!

This probably wasn't kosher. It certainly didn't count as a "necessity, and Tara had been attempting to use magic only for necessities, to not rely on it quite so much and manage difficult situations on her own.

But, after enough time to realize that her feet felt as though they'd been glued to the floor with the fear of venturing further into the party, Tara had given in. A quick incantation had brought the familiar green light floating in front of her face. She'd shown in the card and given it one, simple, clear instruction - "Find the person holding a card with this symbol."

After that, the little green light had begun to float away. Proceeding was slow going, through the growing crowds of the party, but the little glow matched her pace so that she could always keep it in sight. It might lead her on a roundabout way, it might not even work if her date hadn't shown up yet, but eventually, this little light of hers' would lead her to her match for the night.

It did pause long enough for Tara to, after some further dithering, grab a corsage of white acacias from the table. She didn't need the meaning spelled out. At least the spell meant she couldn't dither long over the meanings. Too long casting this spell with an uncertain mind tended to cause the lights to multiply, and they were a bit too single minded to make a decent light show.
