Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

Legolas [Open mingling]

Legolas wasn't the best at mingling. Every celebration he had been to, he had companions to talk with and places to relax. He could have played music or sung songs but this wasn't any celebration he had been to before and there were far more people than he was used to, aside from Aragorn's crowning.

So he simply browsed the food table and saw what was available, grabbing a few pieces of fruit that he recognized and liked. He even tried a few new things And then the elf simply found somewhere to sit and relax, more than happy to watch others have fun.

[This would be Minako in her maid outfit standing behind the food table, making sure everything is stocked and kept neat.]

Would you like a drink?

[Legolas smiles, she looks quite cheerful doing this. And everything does look very neat.]

Certainly. What might you recommend?

Well, the fruit punch is good. Or any of the juice we have, really, since we're not offering alcohol.

That's sensible, there are children here.

[And he's not talking about everyone younger than himself, like he might usually.]

Fruit punch sounds delicious.

That and I don't think this party really needs it, you know? This is like a get-together, meet-and-greet party.

[She pours him the drink with a flourish.]

Oh sure, I'd love to! The food table should be okay without me manning it. [She steps out from behind the table and then pours her drink.]

"Um..."

If Legolas happens to look up at the sound of that "um...", he'll find Tara, standing nervously by the table's other unoccupied chair. On the one hand, she feels awkward as hell just standing here but, on the other...well, she wouldn't blame Legolas if he didn't want her to sit down. Their last meeting had been a bit unfortunate.

"H-Hi." But, she offers him a happy smile. Just presenting herself so he'd be able to be certain she was alive, and all that.

"Tara."

The elf smiles, standing up and moving to pull the chair out for her. He was always a gentleman, after all, and it would have been rude for him to remain sitting if she wasn't.

"How are you?"

Zelda had mentioned she was alive and looking healthier than when they had been in the pods but it was much better for his peace of mind when he saw her.

"Good. Um, pretty good. I-I mean...better, at least. A lot better."

All right, she'd been attacked and nearly killed half a dozen times in the interim, or so it felt like, but using magic to defend herself hadn't sent her into an immediate spiral downward again.

She smiles broadly and gives a brief thumbs-up, just for the added effect. And then, something like amusement sneaks into Tara's expression, and she casts an almost surreptitious gaze around at the party.

"So, um...are you here with s-someone?"

"I'm very glad to hear that. I was quite concerned after everything that transpired in the pods and I was a bit indisposed after returning so I had no chance to seek you out."

And he'd gotten enough good news after he returned that he didn't die again straight off, once he woke up again. And the tower didn't seem any worse off than it had been, despite their loss.

The elf doesn't quite understand what the thumbs-up is supposed to mean but he does grin. And then laughs because-- haha, being here with someone.

"I am and yet I am not. It seems my date turned out to be none other than my good friend, Gimli."

"F-Friend? Well, um, hey. Friend dates are good. Th-They can be a lot of fun."

She wouldn't know, as Tara has never been on one. Tonight certainly doesn't count, because April is currently bringing up Complicated Feelings.

...Tara is going to take what is, for her, a phenomenal leap of confidence, and actually sit down in the other chair, at this point. The elf seems to be in reasonably good spirits. Even if she'd finally stopped carrying the necklace she'd made for him around, there was always the option of getting his room number and leaving it there.

"I'm, um, kind of more with the 'blind' thing. I-I only met her the once, after I got back."

"Gimli keeps things very entertaining, even in combat. I couldn't ask for a better friend than he."

Half the reason Legolas was even able to remain cheerful during the war of the ring was because of the competition they had made of killing orcs, goblins and ever other servant of Sauron.

With a smile, he pushes her chair in slightly after she sits down before returning to his own seat right by her. He turned a bit so he was fully facing her.

"I, admittedly, had to read that network message explaining them. We've nothing like that on Middle Earth so the concept was confusing to me."

"Oh, um, th-that's okay. I mean, they can be kind of confusing even, um, even when they do exist back home. There's, um, there's dates you go on with friends, a-and just one friend, a-and a girlfriend, o-or a boyfriend. There's speed dates, a-and blind dates, and first dates..."

Tara realizes that she's acting like a dork again, and presses a hand to her mouth to stifle a happy little laugh.

"So, um...y-you and he fight together a lot? Sorry, I, I know this might be kind of a weird question, but...w-what sort of things did you fight?"

Tara had technically fought vampires and demons and their ilk, in defense of the world. However, before Willow had died, she'd only ever successfully killed one, and that had been in the heat of the moment.

Legolas listened and his mind swam with what she told him. Suddenly, he was very much glad that he hailed from Middle Earth. Things were much more simple, or easier for him to understand, there than where she came from.

"It certainly sounds confusing. I'm very glad to have the simple life I do."

Even if it's not so simple.

"We do, fairly often in Middle Earth and we've done a bit of fighting here. We fought orcs, goblins, trolls, wargs and whatever other servants that Sauron had at his disposal. It started out as pure rivalry, our races didn't get along very well but it soon turned to friendly competition on who could kill more of them."

"Look out--!"

Having an inherent wind affinity was usually pretty awesome! And then sometimes when you were at a party, it resulted in you rushing and accidentally flinging a small fruit pie through the air headed straight towards some blond guy on the other side of the room whoops.

Needless to say Ven's trying to rush over as fast as he can, but even with his speed it's hard to beat something with a way small center of gravity--!

As soon as Legolas heard that yell, he turned to look and quickly dropped to the floor, elvish reflexes reacting just a bit more quickly than the realization that it was food flying at him and not a weapon.

At least he was clear of a fruity mess ruining his clothes, and then looked towards the voice and saw Ven. Had he thrown it?

"S-Sorry...!" He finally tells him once he's close enough to not have to shout. At least he had enough stamina to not be panting after that jolt of speed.

"You OK?"

"No need to apologize, there was no harm done." Legolas chuckles very softly, rising to his feet and brushing his clothes off. At leas the young man had thought to apologize, most wouldn't, and he was concerned about Legolas' wellbeing.

"I'm quite alright, thank you for asking. Why exactly happened that I had to doge a flying pie?"

Well, he was glad that the guy didn't seem too annoyed or at all injured or anything. But Ven diiiid kind of go sheepish at the question.

"Uh... I was just trying to cool it off...."

It probably was not that hot though.

If Ven was sheepish at the question, the laughter Legolas released then probably didn't help. It was a friendly sort of laugh though, not even near of being mocking or the like.

"Quite a creative way of cooling it off but it seems that it may be no good to eat now."

Still sheepish yes, but the laugh actually made him feel sort of less stupid! Sort of. Well either way, he's at lest grinning to stave off his own awkward.

"Probably not. I'm sure it wasn't that great anyway." Lies

"Oh-- uh, my name's Ventus. Sorry, again about the whole flying pie thing."

"I could not tell you, I saw it only in passing." Badumtsh.

Legolas grinned and smiled politely, nodding at the introduction. He still found the situation amusing but the less discomfort he caused the child, the better.

"A pleasure, Ventus. I am Legolas, of the Woodland Realm. It's quite alright, I was not harmed or covered in food. And it seems that no one else was either."
