Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

[Minako really had to hand it to Eikichi-- this was turning out to be a pretty amazing party. She'd been hoping to help plan it, to be honest...but her run-in with Minato had left her a little too banged up to be of help to anyone.

She's mostly healed up now, smiling to herself as she ladles out juice into plastic cups for the other party-goers. Thanks to Kanji's miracle-working, she's in a new dress for the occasion. She had wanted to go in her maid outfit to kind-of-sort-of help play the part of being a caterer, but Shinji had absolutely foot his down against it.

Which is why she'll be sneaking out sometime in the middle of the party to change and come back in the maid get-up. People will probably catch her flitting around the dancing area asking if anyone wanted drinks.]

Maid outfit? MORE EASILY RECOGNIZABLE...

[He had heard it was a party, so he had dressed up. He was... somewhat curious as to how these mortals celebrated, but stopped when he saw the style of dress of those heading into the party. Less formal it was, then.]

[That's why it's only now that he's headed inside, having changed back to his normal outfit. There would be an occasion for the other in due time. He did spot the girl in the maid outfit, however, and approached her.]

What manner of refreshments dost thou hast for this occasion?

[She glances up from behind the food table and grins a little.]

Mostly juice! We have apple and grape. Oh, fruit punch too! Which one would you like?

[He's quiet for a long moment, and then -]

Art... such manner of celebrations common amongst mortals?

[She pours a liberal amount of juice into the plastic cup before offering it to him.]

You mean the party? There are different kinds of parties, but this one is kind of a general get-together kind. It really depends on the person who's throwing it.

[He takes a sip of the juice, thinking.]

[Well admittedly he hadn't been expecting that dress on her. It was...pretty cute. A little too cute, Shinji realized, as he found himself staring, then looking away so it didn't seem like his gaze lingered on her for too long. The orange matched her hair nicely too and....urrrrgh.

Well it wasn't the maid outfit. Why had this stupid dumbass tower even GIVEN her that in the first place? The world ends and that's what they give her? Not that he was any better...oh of course, it just had to be there, hadn't it? That damn butler outfit that the entire team had gotten. As a joke, they said. "Hell if I'm wearing this," he had said.

Ending up wearing it cause she asked, in the end. For a single night in Tartarus. No more. Never again. So much complaining for that hour...

But now that there was a party, he had been asked to wear something nice. Sadly, that was the closest he had, baring the school outfit that would not be very fitting...besides he just didn't have to wear the gloves and no one would think twice and assume it was a suit.

He felt naked without his hat. Too used to having it on his head, he kept twitching his neck and rubbing it awkwardly. In one of his hands, he held the corsage, at first not taking one, but then realizing she'd be expecting one, he had. Yellow too, without realizing its meaning. It just...fit well with her dress.]

Hey. You...look really nice.

[WAS THAT A COMPLIMENT? WOOOHAAAAaaaa no surprisingly he hadn't drunk anything.]

[She looks up from her work, a small, warm smile going over her lips when she realizes its him. Minako had to cajole him a little to come to the party, but she knew in the end he would come, if only to please her. He has always been like that, and she always enjoys their little game of convincing and resisting. But she hadn't been expecting him to come in a suit today.]

Thank you. You do too.

[...now that she's getting a closer look at him, she thinks it's the butler suit she made him wear so long ago. It makes her smile even more, but she hides it by reaching back and removing her clip from her hair to let it down.]

I'm officially on break from handing out drinks. Let's go dance!

Wait, wait. If I hadn't caught you at the right moment I'd need permission to get you out? Tch.

[Don't worry, he's grinning...and also holding one of those weird corsages flower...things. Shinji is not the very emotional kind, after all. It took him forever to give her a watch, much less something that seems to have been made for everyone and is...flower...y.]

Hold out your hand, I'll put it on.

[Or attempt to anyway.]

Hmm, you're not the type to ask for permission though~

[She laughs and steps out from behind the table. Oh hey, lookit those legs, Shinji.]

Oh-- [Her whole expression softens when she sees the flower, and she raises her arm for him.] So that's what they were giving out at the entrance. Was I supposed to get you something for your suit too?

Exactly.

[Regardless, he didn't quite do kidnapping either. So he would have just grumbled it up like he always did---ghhh! You did that on purpose didn't you. Distracting him with your...womanly curves, and he goes back to pushing the flowers in without hurting her.]

...Tch. Don't bother. It ain't really my style.

[Mission accomplished! The corsage is on her hand.]

...you want something to eat?

[Shinji was not...good at dates....]

[Perhaps it's a simple attempt at mingling, perhaps it's a subconscious effort of regaining something precious that she's lost recently, but either way, Zelda finds herself striking up a conversation with the cheery girl on the other side of the food table.]

This is quite an impressive display. Did you aid in creating it, Minako?

Hi Zelda. [Minako gives her a small smile. Minami had been getting harp lessons from her, right? She didn't know how close Minami and Zelda were, but she could get a sense of how deep their friendship was. Having the same face as Minami probably didn't help the loss.

Damn this Tower.]

I wanted to, but I was kind of holed up in bed for a while.

Oh?

[She tilts her head, the slightest bit of worry creasing her brow. It does still hurt, like a persistent ache in the bottom of her heart, but she's determined not to let her grief get the better of her. Not today, when people are so happy for once.]

I hope you are alright now. [Please don't be pushing yourself for the sake of the party, Minako, Zelda will snatch that ladle from your hand--]

I'm fine, don't worry. [She laughs a little, looking sheepish.] It's nothing I couldn't handle.

Anyways, enough about me. Have you been having fun? [She grins a little.] Did you have a blind date?

[She's about to ask what happened, but then Minako changes the subject and ahaha...]

Hah, no, I was one of the few who managed to avoid being signed up, it seems. But I have been enjoying myself all the same. It is hard not to, when surrounded by such a cheerful atmosphere.

Post maid get-up!

[Tara does an impressive double take when she suddenly finds what appears to be an actual maid standing next to her. Pardon her while she stares in mildly stunned disbelief, Minako.

...and then, recognition dawns. Tara frowns, trying to recall the name. After the fantastic job another Minako had done healing her up on her first day, she wasn't likely to forget the face any time soon.] Um...is there any tea?

Hi there! [This Minako doesn't show any recognition of Tara, only smiling in greeting.]

We have iced tea, both sweetened and unsweetened. Which one would you like?

Um...s-sweetened. Thank you. [And then, before the girl can turn to go, Tara's memory flips a card.]

M-Minako? Um...y-you look really nice. [The maid outfit, suffice to say, works for the girl.]

[Minako blinks a little before turning sheepish. For more reasons than one.]

Oh, um. Thank you. [A pause.] I'm...really sorry, do I know you?

You...

[Tara looks decidedly surprised, at this, and stumbles in an attempt to recover her composure.] Um, I mean, you might not remember, it was a while ago. But, um, it was my first day here, and I'd been attacked by something, and you healed me with...Queen Mab? I, I think it was Queen Mab. And, and then you told me about the night watch. W-Where, um, where Willow worked.

[With increasingly less hope:] ...remember?

[He approaches the drinks table but the sight of the girl in maid outfit makes him raise an eyebrow questioningly.]

So is wearing that required of you to be serving drinks?

[She gives the newcomer a little grin.]

Not really, I just thought it'd be fun if I did.

[He honestly doesn't know how that can be fun.]
