We're Gonna Party Rock Till The Day Comes Up!
Characters: EVERYONE
Setting: Floor 38
Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.
It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.
At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.
Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.
As Eikichi had said, no pressure.
...Except for coming, of course.
Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol. As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.
On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.
The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.
There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.
All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.
It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.
[OOC - Hello and welcome to the party log! Let's mingle and have fun because the tower doesn't let us have much of it. You can start a brand new thread when you are blind dating and mark them (EIKICHI AND MIYABI ), or if you want to do something like "JADE DJs A FEW SONGS FOR YOU" and people can reply to that. You can make multiple threads to a reply to, so if someone wants to talk to Eikichi, then someone else does later. Just make sure any closed threads are marked with [CLOSED] so other people know they can't pop in! Otherwise...it's free game.

Futomimi <- ❀ -> The Dolorosa
no subject
A few minutes later, he approached a tall woman with grey skin, black hair and orange horns, dressed in a jade robe. "Excuse me. Do you have a card with this flower on it?" he asked, showing her his card.
no subject
She hadn't expected the man's approach, and flustered a little as she dug out her card and showed it to him with a nervous smile. "Ah, it...appears that I do, yes." She placed a hand to her heart and gave him a bow. "I am The Dolorosa, and it...appears we have been assigned each other's company for the evening."
no subject
"I brought you some flowers," he said as he showed her the corsage he had chosen, "but it seems you have already picked some for yourself... maybe I misunderstood the tradition?"

oh whoops i switched tense on us, sorry
s'okay

"Forgive me if I assume too much, but I'll suppose that, if you speak of your planet in the past tense, it is no more?"
no subject
"But yes, regardless of what news our wardens share upon arrival, I have been assured that my planet has died, some indeterminate number of sweeps following my own lifetime. The children bore witness, sadly, but were among the few survivors."
no subject
The Dolorosa had an interesting story. One that much reminded Futomimi of his own world and its cruelty. He decided to ask, hoping for the best but fearing the worst for those survivors.
"Have you ever heard of a Vortex World?"

"The Vortex World," he began, "is a world between the death of one world and the birth of the next. Everything in it is organized around allowing the handful of surviving humans to each establish a Reason, which is a philosophy according to which each believes the next world should be built around.
"Of course, those are pretty words to mask that the survivors will be left on their own without food or water in a world overrun by demons, most of which are more powerful than them and hostile to their presence. The will of a Reason bearer is forged from the shards of his shattered mind, to say nothing of the state of his heart, soul and body."
He squeezed his lips briefly there. "Each of the Reason bearer will then attempt to summon a god to sponsor their philosophy. This is accomplished by offering the gods a large amount of magatsuhi, life energy, which can be found in small quantities in each living being. This means indeed that countless are sacrificed to the Reason bearers' goal.
"At this point, the trials have still barely begun. The new world will be created according to a Reason; however, only one of these Reasons will be chosen. Again, an euphemism to hide that the Reason bearers will engage in a merciless war from which only one of them can emerge victorious. If they simply massacre each other, then the world will never be born and the Vortex World will eventually fade away.
"If one succeeds, however, the Vortex World is destroyed and a new world is born in its place. Needless to say, all inhabitants of the Vortex World, who are forbidden from creating a world, die."
no subject
His familiarity with the rules and frequency of this process left her with a question, however. "What was your role in this Vortex World?"
no subject
"I am the leader and prophet of a people called the Manikins. Because we are created to resemble humans and have emotions, we are the prime source of magatsuhi in the Vortex World. Needless to say, we have been enslaved and tortured to produce the precious energy by feeling fear and pain. I tried to establish a Reason were everyone would be equal, using the magatsuhi stored in our sacred birthland, but..." he lowered his head. "I failed."
no subject
What really took her aback was the familiarity of Futomimi's tale. It could almost be her own, her Signless', any of those who followed alongside them. To witness the injustice inherent in the world around you, and rising against hopeless odds to change it...only to be ultimately unsuccessful. She knows that story all too well.
Her face weighed with empathy and memory as she placed a hand on his own. "And your fate was then sealed, I expect. The punishment dire beyond comprehension."
no subject
He was a bit surprised when she touched his hand, but one look at her face made Futomimi's heart swell, as much as remembering these dire days hurt. She understood. He could only nod at her last words, not having the strength to retell the tale of the massacre, not even wanting to think about it. Not tonight.
"You too?"
no subject
"The caste divisions in my culture are stark and vicious. We made our attempt to have them dissolved, to encourage our neighbors to look beyond their shackles, but those who benefit the most from such configurations do not look kindly on those who would have them made equal. We never stood a chance."
no subject
"I apologize for making you recall. Despite our tragic stories, I'm glad we have met tonight. It gives me hope. Perhaps someone like you and I, in another world, will successfully free the weak of their burden." He smiled at her, soft but genuine.
no subject
She clasped his hands in both of hers with a sad smile. "I am likewise delighted to have made your own acquaintance! Just having the awareness of such like-minded individuals, even despite our unpleasant mutual setting, eases my worries somewhat as to the purposes which can be accomplished in this tower beyond simple survival."
