We're Gonna Party Rock Till The Day Comes Up!
Characters: EVERYONE
Setting: Floor 38
Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.
It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.
At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.
Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.
As Eikichi had said, no pressure.
...Except for coming, of course.
Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol. As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.
On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.
The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.
There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.
All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.
It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.
[OOC - Hello and welcome to the party log! Let's mingle and have fun because the tower doesn't let us have much of it. You can start a brand new thread when you are blind dating and mark them (EIKICHI AND MIYABI ), or if you want to do something like "JADE DJs A FEW SONGS FOR YOU" and people can reply to that. You can make multiple threads to a reply to, so if someone wants to talk to Eikichi, then someone else does later. Just make sure any closed threads are marked with [CLOSED] so other people know they can't pop in! Otherwise...it's free game.

Riku <- ♈ -> Naminé
no subject
He's burrowing one hand in his jeans pocket, the other one holding his sheet of paper. The sooner he finds his 'date' and resolves this, the better.]
no subject
[She can only hope it'll be someone who'll understand she doesn't intend this to be romantic, for a lot of reasons obvious to her but difficult to explain to others without letting slip things she'd rather not. So when she enters the party, paper clutched carefully in her hand, she's quietly nervous. She'd like to get this overwith as soon as possible, but then she catches sight of Riku, and-- well, she can't very well ignore him, right? (And really, she's glad to see him out and about and actually around other people.) Heading his direction, she tries to focus on greeting him rather than the situation, and works out a smile that's a lot more genuine than it could be, thanks to him.]
Riku...!
no subject
He is only actually only actively avoiding a selected few. And well... if he happens to... not run into anyone else, that's really just fine by him too, he supposes.)His expressions lightens a little (or a great) bit when he hears her calling for him and then catches sight of her]
Naminé. [He glances down to where she is clenching her paper, an eyebrow raising slightly before he tilts his head a little.] So you've been roped into this as well, huh?
no subject
(... Which is precisely why she sees fit to be pleased about him making an appearance at the party.)][Her eyes find his paper as she approaches - though she can't see what's on it yet - around the time he sees hers, and her lips part slightly in surprise. Still, by the time she looks back up, her smile is back in place, although it's a touch more sympathetic now. She comes to a stop near him, seeing his reaction and glancing down toward her own paper. Realizing she's squeezing it a little, she forces her hands to relax.]
... Mm. [It's very slightly guilty, and so is the nod that accompanies it..] I didn't even know it until they told me. I'm still not sure whose idea it was, but.... [She shakes her head, but the awkwardness of the situation is inherent in her expression while she does, and her meaning is clear; she believes that was a bad idea.] ... Well, I guess there's no help for it now. [Her eyes were threatening to lower, and so she forces them back up toward his, her head tilting a moment later.] Have you found your... 'date' yet?
no subject
even if he ends up having to help it just a little. He understands her discomfort though; he might not think that it's a bad idea for her to get out more, but a blind date of all things... Yeeeeaaah.
He shakes his head at her question-] Not yet. [-and turns his paper towards her... who knows, maybe she has run across his soon-to-be-rejected-date already.]
no subject
[She glances down at the paper, smile still quirking her lips, but the second she recognizes the symbol, her lips form into an 'o' instead, her expression otherwise freezing. When she finally looks up at him again, it's with wide eyes.]
Riku--....
[She falters, then slowly shifts her own paper so that he can see the symbol on it.]
[They match.]
no subject
Oh...
Oh.
...
He blinks down at the matching papers, surprise written over his features
and if it looks like his cheeks are starting to flush very, very faintly then that's just a trick of the light, really! But uhm... awkward. Maybe.
...It doesn't have to be though... because well... he can't say he isn't maybe a tiny bit glad about this. He far from minds her company and she does deserve having a nice time - especially given the last few months.
So after a moment he starts smiling, even though it's hesitant and maybe just a little unsure. He isn't quite certain how she feels about all of this.]
Well... that's an interesting turn of events.
[About the last one he would have expected, given his luck stats. Or there lack of. But as said... it's not one he's unhappy about. Far from.]
no subject
Surely, surely! That's what she takes it as, anyway. Her eyes switch between his face and the paper, torn between disbelief and the necessity of watching his reaction.][That smile, though - that's unexpected. (It wouldn't startle her so much if she had more faith in her own value, but in that she is and always has been more than a little blind.) It's hard to tell what she's thinking aside from her obvious surprise and careful observation of his expression. Truth is, she's not sure WHAT to think. The whole situation is a thoroughly unfamiliar one, and that's what makes her so uncertain. Once she's had time to process it, though, part of her relieved. He's not the only one who doesn't mind the time they spend together. And, ironically, she thinks the same of him - that he deserves to have a nice time... only, in that sense, they differ where the method of achieving such a thing is concerned; surely he'd have more fun with someone else?]
[But... slowly, very late, she smiles her own faint smile.]
... Yes, I suppose it is.
....
It's... lucky? [And of course she's watching closely for his reaction to that, too.] This way, things are less--... [She falters, then,] ... complicated. [
Or more, perhaps, but that remains to be seen.]no subject
Oh uhm. Good. He, too, keeps a careful eye on her reaction - while he doesn't mind how this turned out, he knows that she might, and if she's uncomfortable with the situation then there is really no sense in pushing it.
He's just about to tell her to forget about it all, when she starts to smile herself and he can't help but chuckle quietly at her description of their... situation(?) or the grin the grin that steals its way on his face.]
That's one way to put it.
[The grin disappears as he straightens and clears his throat, left arm slipping behind his back as he attempts something similar to a formal bow before offering her his right arm
and this time, the blush on his face is probably just a little more obvious.]Well then... ah... may I be your escort for the night?
[Or well. Day? Whatever.]
no subject
[Her lips do start to flatten out (though they don't relax all the way) when he straightens, and she blinks up at him, at first benignly confused. The gesture seems to take a moment to register; she doesn't even realize what he's got in mind until he's halfway down in that bow, at which point her mouth shifts into an 'o', her eyes just a little bit wide. Her gaze shifts once between the offered arm and his face. She doesn't miss the color there, though she doesn't think much of it; surely he's just embarrassing himself? Not that he has anything to be concerned about in her opinion, really - she's quite pleased.]
[It's true that she has her doubts. It's true that she thinks she should at least offer him the chance to back out, make sure he knows it's okay and that he doesn't have to do this. There's the slightest of hesitations, but, unable to help herself, the girl giggles behind a hand (though whether she thinks him silly or is just flattered is debatable. Perhaps it's both?) and when she removes that hand her smile is wide. There's the slightest touch of color to her cheeks, but that's probably most easily blamed on her laughter.]
[Bobbing some loose approximation of a curtsey, she presses her fingers together happily with a,]
I'd be honored.
[Even though she still intends to offer him a way out, it just... seems wrong to leave him hanging. So, she extends a hand to gently take that offered arm, though it's more like she's just placing her hand very very lightly against it; it's hardly a touch at all, since she's intent on hearing his answer without unintentionally pressuring him. Her skin is just as soft as ever and her hand just as small, and she smiles even as she says,]
But you know, you don't have to be, if you'd rather not. I'd understand.
[No hard feelings, it seems, if the look on her face is any indication.]
no subject
It really is, isn't it?Embarrassing himself? Well, maybe just a little if this attempt to maybe show her something like a proper date - or what he guesses might be - fails (even if they are spending this evening strictly as friends, there is no harm in... playing along with the event, is there?).
But no that blush is really not at all connected to this possibility. Though given that giggle and that smile, he does seem to have succeeded, so.He blinks at that offer of hers, an eyebrow raising, though he's still smiling.]
You know I wouldn't offer unless I wanted to, right?
[She should know that, right?]
no subject
[He'd find himself hard pressed to truly screw things up, although it may be for the best that she isn't aware of precisely what he has in mind; she's her own biggest blind spot, after all.]
[That eyebrow has her looking half-jokingly ashamed of herself before he even answers. She falters a moment, eyes lowering almost shyly.]
... Of course. [It's cheerful but also a little guilty. Almost morning once more,] You're just too nice to me, I guess.
no subject
Maybe it would take a lot, but considering just how long Riku's list of screw-ups is, he doesn't dare to assume that he won't. Though it's not like he plans to tell her what he is up to, because that would be well... just awkward.
He just shakes his head, he isn't being too nice - she deserves so much better - but he knows that saying this out loud would just have her disagree again. So he just takes a step forward to lead her further into the room.]
Let's just have a good time.
[Given recent events, that should be a nice change of pace... even if it lasts only for one afternoon.]
no subject
[That's much easier for her to along with; she makes no fuss about it, following his move once her eyes move upward again, glancing at him and then their path.]
... Mm. It shouldn't be too hard, right?
[Her attention returns to him, and if that smile is any indication? It's not just the party making things easier she's talking about; it's the company, too.]
That is what we're here for.
no subject
Right.
[He smiles and nods, trying to figure out where to go - he is kind of winging this whole date-thing (what else is he supposed to do given that he has so absolutely zero experience with this? Twilight Town doesn't exactly count after all. That was just friends hanging out. Wasn't it ?).
Hmm...
Food is always a good idea. Or drinks at least. Right?]
Do you want to pick up some food? Or a drink, maybe?
no subject
[She's just as lost as he is, if not more, and so after she smiles back, she stays where she is. After a moment, she glances around at the party, looking thoughtful.]
[Right. Goodness knows this girl obviously doesn't get enough of it. She's as skinny as ever. She blinks up at him when he speaks, smile spreading.]
Sure. [There's a place set aside for such things, so clearly this is an appropriate Party Activity, yes?] Sounds good.
no subject
Well, then all the better. Time to occupy that area for a while.
He answers that smile with one of his own, stomach fluttering a little as he takes the lead over to the nearest food table. Slowly of course. No need to rush anything. Right?]
no subject
[It's certainly of interest, even aside from its purpose - always gotta check out what possibly interesting looking things they have sitting around, right? For someone who spent so long deprived of real experiences, almost everything that she sees has some interest value to it.]
[No need to rush at all, it seems; she does glance thoughtfully at him when she takes notice of that, but she appears perfectly content to just stroll along next to him at whatever pace he sets, a small smile on her face.]
no subject
There may be just a flicker of question in his eyes when he catches that thoughtful glance, but it disappears a moment later as they reach the buffet tables.]
no subject
[She doesn't fail to notice, and there's a very subtle headshake; 'it's nothing'. It doesn't matter much, anyway, since now that they've reached the table, she's focused on looking around at everything.
She is probably more interested in their colors than their taste, at least for now.]no subject
He lets his eyes linger for a second before nodding lightly ('All right.'), and well since they are at the table now there are really other things to think about. Sorta. Riku looks curious as he peers down at the table, he's not really hungry either, but it doesn't hurt to check what the buffet is holding in store for later.]
no subject
[Naminé's making no move to actually try anything at first, more interested in visually surveying everything. Some of it is more or less familiar, at least vaguely; she never really did get the chance to experience very many different foodstuffs in her life, but she's at least seen memories of a few. Goodness, where is she even supposed to start?]
no subject
Anything catching your eye?
no subject
[Whoops. She smiles, laughing at herself just a little.]
I'm afraid I'm not sure where to start. I don't know that much about food. [Living off of sandwiches most of her life and all--] Is there anything you'd suggest?
