We're Gonna Party Rock Till The Day Comes Up!

Setting: Floor 38
Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

[Without any work to do or brats ~~or goddesses~~ to bother him, Adachi's actually managed to loosen up pretty well. He's enjoying the refreshments, he's sampling the food, he's even snapping his fingers like a dork in tune with the music.

All things considered? Tonight really isn't so bad.

And so long as those twerps stick to the kids' table and keep their noses out of Adachi's affairs, it'll stay that way.]

Excuse me-- Adachi, is it?

[Jun was standing next to Adachi at the refreshments table, with one hand folded behind his back, and the other gesturing as he spoke. He was smiling pretty nicely and his voice was perfectly cheerful and calm, but there was something a bit.... off about his whole countenance.]

Can you come with me for a moment? It won't take long.

Whaffat?

[Unfortunately, Jun, you've caught him mid-chew, but he forces the cake down with a big swallow. How does this kid know his name...?]

Er, sure, I guess.

Don't worry, I just need to speak with you about something-- it's rather urgent. And It'll be much easier to speak away from all this noise.

[He turned away from him to start walking towards the entrance, ushering for Adachi to follow with a wave of his hand.]

[Okay...? Well, he can't say this is really the weirdest thing that's ever happened to him, but if it won't take that long, then Adachi will follow.]

[Near the entrance is another student that he's probably seen around the stage area, messing with the guitar and generally being unsociable.

When he sees the two of them heading over, he stands up a bit straighter and gives his knuckles a good crack. He looks like kind of a punk, albeit one who's better at keeping up appearances than, say, Kanji.]

[Speaking of punks...Eikichi isn't too hard to miss, what with the fact he towers even the human Bulldozer by a good few inches, and his blue hair. When he speaks, there's the usual Eikichi jovial tone...but something a little more sinister under it. The type of speech that got him into Kasugayama High for delinquents in the first place.]

Adachi Tohru is it? We spoke over the network. I'm the one who paired you up with Gi--Lisa.

...We just thought you should know what you got yourself into.

[Yes just to talk. About. What. You got yourself. Into.]

She's our teammate after all, and we're very protective of her...

[Once they had gotten outside, Jun stood in front of the entrance, effectively blocking the way back into the party for now, but never once losing the serene smile on his face.]

We've heard some unsavory things about your history, and Lisa is very important to us. We just want to make sure she'll be OK. You understand, don't you?

[Well. This sure isn't an awkward or uncomfortable situation at all. There's no way out of this one, no escaping these two punks or this grinning joker at the door.

He swallows, laughs nervously to try and lighten the mood but that chuckle quickly becomes a choke at Jun's words.

Unsavory things about--- How the hell would they know anything about his history?! He doesn't even know these punks. So how do they know him? Who are they?

"No one who'd start anything unless you pull the trigger, first."

Wait. Was this what Narukami had meant...?]

Th-That's... I, uh... I'm...

[Tongue-tied. That's what he is.]

[The guy who's been silent during this whole thing casually stalks over to Adachi and leans a bit closer to him.

Staring...]

...Hi. [His voice is unusually deep, but he thankfully walks a bit away from Adachi and isn't all in his face. Of course...he's starting to pace now, and he suddenly reaches into his shirt pocket, taking out a Zippo lighter and flicking the lid idly.]

...Do you know what being a man is all about?

...Is that a serious question?

Oh he's very serious.

[He pauses and he idly cross his arms, his fingers tapping slowly one after the other.]

We're all. Very. Serious.

[Now both his hands were folded behind his back and his tone was almost sickeningly nice. He should proooobably answer the question.]

[More than any of them, he wants to say. But something tells him that's probably not the sort of tone he wants to establish in this little chat of theirs. He stands his ground, crosses his arms.]

It ain't all that hard...[He starts pacing around him, his red eyes never leaving Adachi's gaze]...apart from following the bro code, real men respect women and their wishes. They don't act like spoiled kids when they don't get their way either...

[The pacing stops, and he touches his face for a second before looking at him again, cracking his knuckles together.]

Jun d'you want to add anything to that? He might not be getting a clear picture...

[Jun brought a hand up to his chin, looking up in thought for a moment or two.]

Real men don't keep ulterior motives. And... [He moved his hand from his chin and pointed, as if he had just realized something, and returned his attention to Adachi properly with a smile.]

...real men don't kill innocent people for the fun of it.

[...Well, that settles it. Yu Narukami is fucking dead.

It takes a lot of restraint for Adachi not to fly off the handle right now, and given the look on his face, it obviously shows.]

Listen. I dunno what you guys have heard about me, but...

[...it's not true. No, given how much they already seem to know, playing dumb would probably be the worst move he could pull.

...that's none of your goddamn business. No, what Adachi's done isn't any of their business at all. But they're not gonna take too well to that sort of attitude, he can tell.

...you shouldn't push me around. Magatsu-Izanagi's managed to conceal itself pretty well this evening, but Adachi can still hear the rattling hiss in his ears...

No, no, no, if anything, reacting like this will never get them off his back. He'll just have to take it, for now. He forcibly contorts that snarl into something a little more neutral.]

But take it easy, all right? You guys don't have to worry about me trying anything stupid. Really.

[It's just like a laughing party of slightly-demented teens at this point. Eikichi does the same an his laughter sounds like the one someone would do before punching someone else's face in.]

After all, we know she won't let herself be pushed around.

Look at it this way; no matter what we had known about you, we would'ave given you this talk. We're just being extra....[crack goes his knuckles again] ...careful.

As the man said, you treat Lisa nicely, don't do anything shitty, and we won't have any problems between the four of us. But if you make either her or Maya upset...

[He grins. It is the grin of The Boss, the guy at school who made you feel like you weren't worth his time if he just looked at you wrong.]

...well we might just have to be a little more forceful.

[He brought his finger to the side of his head, tapping his temple, and even if his whole disposition had been slightly off, here there was an easily detectable air of malevolence from that stare.]

And don't think that'll give you the advantage over any of us. Compared to what we've seen before, you're just a small fry.

[And now he joined the chorus of unsettling laughter with a sinister chuckle of his own.]

[He's really not liking this. At all. But if he was able to stomach this much so far, Adachi's able to keep down the bile that threatens to spill out of him, teeth still clenched like a dog without its claws.]

[Fucking cocky brats, that's what these three are. Just like the others from Inaba. He hasn't even done anything. But even if they know this much about him already, they have no idea just what he's capable of.

All right, boys. This is your win. For tonight, anyway. So just keep on thinking Adachi's a small fry, if that's what you're so keen on believing. But be careful. Because it could wind up biting you in the ass someday.]

Great. [This would normally mean that they're done here but no. No, Tatsuya decides to take it step further and strides over again, giving Adachi's pathetic excuse for dressing himself a little fixing up. Dust the dandruff off his shoulders (ew, gross), make his shirt somewhat less wrinkly, maybe button up the jacket part a bit.]

If you're gonna play make-believe at being a cop, at least pretend to care about how you look.

[...That might seem a little odd, but he's used to the other detective in his life keeping up impeccable appearances, so the way Adachi was carrying himself was rather insulting.

Seriously, get that shit outta here.]

[And guess who always carried around a can of emergency hair gel; this guy. In a swift motion, the can had been taken out and the top opened, as he put a generous dab to Adachi's hair, slicking it up to look a little more professional. Eikichi might not be from a family of cops like Tatsuya, but his dad was all about keeping up neat and tidy appearances. As much as he had problems with his old man, he did listen when he talked.

Funny...now Adachi almost looked presentable! If it wasn't for the whole threatening him part, you might almost thing those guys were doing him a big favor.]
