Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

"It's okay. I didn't want to bother you. I... thought most of us could use some space." He had been a little hesitant to approach Minato and Jin after... that... and he hadn't been sure how to really approach Chidori after the whole mess.

Ken shifts a little uncomfortably. He didn't mean to make her upset...

Chidori only sighs and shakes her head a little, reaching out to settle a hand on his shoulder.

"It's understandable. It hasn't been... the best time. For any of us, really."

She musters a slight smile, and gives his shoulder a squeeze, trying to be reassuring.

"But you can always ask me for anything, Ken. Really."

"I know. But I don't want to push too hard." He's not... the best with people, and he knows it. But he's trying to be considerate of their needs.

"I didn't expect to see you here. I wouldn't have thought you would show up."

"I see."

Such a good kid, really. And a lot more considerate with them than he thinks.

"I wasn't going to but... you were all heading here. I thought I should..."

'I thought I should make sure nothing goes wrong again' is something she doesn't finish saying, but she's pretty sure Ken understands as much.

"... Yeah. We can leave if you want, though."

He looks down at the piece of pie. "Your pie is better than this. I don't think the person who made this knew what they were doing."

"No, I think I'll stay."

After all, there was still Minato and Jin to keep an eye on, even if it wouldn't do them much good if she interfered. She paused, and then blinked down at him, surprised- then shook her head, amusement evident on her face.

"I am sure they did the best they could."

"I guess. But yours is still better."

He offers her a bit of a wider smile, allowing himself a moment of childishness to reach up and squeeze her hand.

Chidori lets out a quiet laugh, and squeezes his hand back.

"I've had more practice doing what I can with what I've got. That's all."

"True."

He doesn't say anything for a bit, just holds her hand. It's... nice, being here. Still...

"Some of the girls here are kind of... cute..."

Don't mind him he'll just be blushing and hiding his face against Chidori's arm.

If there's anything Chidori isn't expecting, it's that particular change in the conversation- but when it happens, she can only blink for a moment before looking at Ken, trying to keep the keen interest out of her expression.

"Oh? Well- I suppose some of the younger girls are adorable, yes."

And now she's looking around to see who looks around Ken's age that he could possibly be looking at.

No she is not plotting, excuse you.

Well he was looking briefly at Sayaka, but now he's looking around at some of the other young girls. Namine, Jade, Feferi, Haruna...

It's not helping his blush at all.

Chidori only reaches up to pat his head, inclining her own toward the girl he first had his eyes on.

"Do you know her?"

"Sort of... I mean, we were all in the pod together. And I think Jin knows her. But she's always been nice to me..."

Why is he talking about girls his face is just turning completely red now.

"Ah yes... I remember. I didn't know Jin was learning to be social, though. Such a nice surprise."

When in doubt, make fun of Jin.

"Do you know her name?"

Always the right answer.

"Uh... Sayaka Miki. She's part of that... group Romeo made for people who are younger..."

He's not calling it a kid's group, okay. He has his pride.

Obviously.

"Oh? So you've known her a while, then."

She is intrigued- tell her more, Ken.

"Not that well... I dunno. She seems pretty cool, though."

How does he even talk to non-Chidori girls, anyway?

Carefully. And probably without mentioning monster-killing at first.

"Do you think she's pretty?"

The absolute most subtle.

Probably, yeah.

"I... uh..."

Dammit Chidori can probably tell what he's thinking anyway.

"... Yes?"

It sounds more like a question than a statement.

And don't mention the fact that your siblings are all murderers.

"Hmm..."

Chidori looks down at him, then at Sayaka, and then ruffles his hair a little again, smile quirking once more.

"She's cute. You've got good taste."

He hasn't mentioned that part, just like no one seems to have mentioned him attempting to become one too.

But laskjdf hair ruffling why. He looks back up at her and blushes a little.

"Th... thanks."

Smart boy- there's a reason Chidori's so proud of you.

And hair-ruffling because you're absolutely precious, that's why.

"Of course." A beat, and then with a hint of slyness- "Have you told her you think so?"

Noooo not precious.

But. But. He pauses, and then shakes his head. "N... no way. She'd probably think I'm really weird."

Definitely precious. She reaches down and pats his cheek, chuckling quietly.

"Girls like getting compliments, Ken. Especially from such a handsome boy."

Bwuh. He doesn't understand though...

"I'm not handsome..."

He's blushing again Chidori why...
