Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

"I-It's okay." Really, it's kind of nice. People tend not to take an interest in Tara. She's an easily overlooked sort of person, and so having questions asked about her is really sort of flattering. Besides, compared to all the other horrible secrets of her past, discussing her college hopes is fairly minor.

Unless...

"Um, unless I'm boring you. I-I don't mind talking about something else, if I am. I mean, um, compared to some of my friends, m-my life is, is kind of boring."

She blinks over at Tara and quickly shakes her head. "Huh? N-no, you're not boring me at all! I'm actually pretty curious, but, um, I sometimes have a habit of prying and I don't wanna do that..."

Now she looks apologetic, and she looks down at her hands as she fidgets with them.

Oh god. Oh god, think of something else, Tara. Think of something else.

And then, as her gaze drifts back down to the floor, Tara spots the little arrangement of white acacias she'd picked up on the way over - the corsage. She brightens, slightly, and manages to turn to face April properly and hold up the little bundle of flowers. "Corsage. Um, I picked up a corsage for you. Th-There were a bunch, on the table. I-I thought they looked nice."

Unspoken but implied, of course, is the question of what April thinks of it. Is white not her color? Well, there's pink, and yellow. Tara is certainly not too proud to go and pick out one April might like better.

April blinks over at her, glancing at the bundle of flowers with a surprised look. She examines at them in silence, before smiling brightly.

"Wow, they're really pretty! Thank you so much!"

"Oh, um...it, i-it's nothing. I didn't make them, or anything, they were just, just on the table."

Even so, Tara looks equal parts relieved and elated. Well, it probably makes sense. If April comes from the sort of world where cake isn't a thing, it's probably likely that fancy flower arrangements like this had been equally scarce.

"I, I-I'm glad you like it. Um, here." She holds up her other hand for a demonstration. I put it on your wrist. Or, um, I-I can pin it on your shirt. W-Which do you want?"

Where April's from, flowers and plants are pretty much non-existent. So she holds out her hand, still smiling happily.

"Ah, my wrist... Oh, should I get you one of these corsage things, too?" She casts a look at the table, looking to see which other ones there are.

"Y-You don't have to." She looks surprised by the offer, but...also, a bit like she'd actually really like to get given a corsage, no matter what she's actually saying. Tara is normally big on the honesty, but...well, this is different. "I mean, um, usually just...one person wears them."

But this isn't 'usually', is it?

"At least where I'm from. M-Maybe it's different, somewhere else."

[technologic]

"Maybe, though I wouldn't know..." April frowns faintly, taking note of how Tara looks like she would like one despite her words.

"... Are you sure, though? I can go get you one if you want."

"Well..."

It's a mark of the odd mood the party has put her in that Tara nods. "Um, okay. The, the white ones, I think they look pretty nice."

Besides, Tara was not entirely ignorant of the meanings the flowers carried in this particular arrangement, enough to know that white acacias were the least...complicated.

"Thank you, April."

"You're welcome!" She gives Tara a bright smile, before going over to pick up the arrangement of white acacias and quickly coming back.

"Um, where would you like me to put it?"
