Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

[ .. oh man, a girl called him handsome. Sure, Leon might say stuff like that about himself, but he doesn't really fully mean it.. or either way, he's always looking for confirmation, so he's just flipping out (in a good way) on the inside at hearing it. Dude, dude, dude. ]

Heh, you've got a good eye! [ KEEP COOL, LEON, PLAY IT COOL.. ] There aren't many guys as cool or handsome as me in the tower.

[ Leon is just swallowing her words as truth either way, he's that desperate to feed his own ego. ]

No way, man! Just imagine a cute chick like you getting paired up with some loser for the blind dates.. that would've been awful, right? [ but Leon, aren't you the very definition of 'some loser'..? ]

Aww, you're sweet, Leon!

[Another giggle, and a hand reaching out to pat his knee.]

Why don't you tell me about your world? I'm always curious about that!

[ .. Sweet.. that's good, isn't it? Yeah, he's sure that's good, he's totally going to score here so he grins to himself, even if he does manage to look almost (slightly loser-like) flustered at the compliment. ]

Well, things were pretty normal until a little while ago.. I'm a really famous baseball player back home! And soon to be a big time rock star too!

Oooh, that's so cool! Does that mean you play an instrument?

And she's uncovering his weakness with one question. ]

Uh.. not yet? [ 'yet' being the keyword here, apparently.. ] But it doesn't matter, since I'll just be the vocalist for a band! That means you don't have to play an instrument, all you have to do is sing!

That's alright, learning to play an instrument is just a matter of practice, right? And there's a ton of them in that floor...

[For the first time, she frowns, somewhat.]

Aww, if only we had a karaoke floor, we could sing together!

Man, a karaoke floor would be the best thing! [ he seems to genuinely mean this, actually. ] Clearly we'll have to try karaoke together if we can find any place at all for it here, just you and me.. [ hint hint, nudge nudge.. ]

Mmm, I'll ask the administrators, if you want!

[She likes the lot of them, weirdly enough.]

And then we can have our second date in it!

You would? [ not that the idea of a second date doesn't appeal to him-- it totally does, but at the same time, talk of the administrators puts him a little on edge.. ] And they won't.. y'know, get mad and do something bad to you instead for it?

Don't see why they wouldn't!

[She smiles easily, unafraid.]

So long as you're polite, they're always glad to be helpful.

Well, I never talked to them.. [ he's hardly even seen them, in fact, but since she seems so absolutely sure about it he still has to think about it. ]

I didn't know you were such good pals with them! Man, maybe they have a weakness for cute girls.

[theresnosuchthing]

Don't be silly!

[She giggles lightly, not mockingly.]

All you have to do is be polite.

[tsunball]

[ .. Ah, see, that's the problem here, Leon probably doesn't even know how to be polite. ]

And then they give you anything you want? Anything..?

Well, they have a request board, don't they?

[She shrugs.]

If you ask nicely and they can grant it, I don't see why they wouldn't!

Man.. well, then maybe you could! And then we'll go have some karaoke, just the two of us.. that sounds just perfect, doesn't it?

I would like that very much!

[tsunball]

Then it's a deal!

[ he.. might be scooting closer to her a little.. but it's Leon, so he's not subtle about it at all even though he thinks he is. ]

.. So, won't you tell me a little about yourself too? Y'know, to get to know each other better and all..! [ and so he can know how to impress her. ]

Hmm, what would you like to know?

[ .. Ah, this is the difficult part, what should he ask about that could be useful in learning how to woo her.. ]

Maybe stuff about your hobbies? Do you have any clubs after school back home or something?

Mmmm, I like cooking!

[She smiles, thinking it over a moment before she starts numbering with her fingers.]

And sewing and walking in the park and Itoshiki-sensei's class, and hanging out with Chiri-chan and going grocery shopping! Aaaaaaaaaand... going out with friends, for karaoke or food!

[ Pretty normal stuff?! Yup, clearly he's gotten the right target here. ]

That all sounds pretty good! .. Except class, that's usually just a bore, huh. Is your teacher that interesting? Can't think of any interesting old farts at my old schools..
